If you can say a few words about israel please. Thank you, mister president. I am honored to be here at this time, this event because this was a bipartisan issue, and previous administrations tried to do something in this area and we know college campuss, where you include people and have education. And not have something that is explosive and drives people away and generates hatred. I am so proud, something that is so bipartisan. She loved America First between the two places. This more than anything will do that. Thank you very much. I want to extend appreciation to israels ambassador, ron dermer. Thank you very much. As we gather this afternoon, turn to grieving families in new jerseys. A kosher supermarket, and killed four innocent souls including a brave Police Officer who faced down the shooter and bravely faced the shooter down. With one heart, america weeps for the lives lost. With one voice we vowed to crush the monstrous evil of antisemitism whenever and wherever it appears. We are working hard on that. I can tell you we have a lot of people on government working very hard on that. We appreciate their work. Joining us on stage are two Jewish American army veterans, jonathan morale us. [applause] as many of you remember both of these heroes were at the synagogue when a killer opened fire and Robert Robert jeffress, icu here, what a tremendous faith leader you are and tremendous man you are, so many people, so many great faith leaders here and i want to thank you for being here. We appreciate it, very much. They race towards countless american live, oscar and jonathan, thank you for responding to the worst evil with the best of american valor. This afternoon we celebrate the miracle of hanukkah, more than 2000 years ago ruthless tyrant persecuted the jewish people and desecrated the temple of jerusalem. A group of jewish patriots defeated a powerful army. We dedicated the temple and won back there right to worship Robert Jeffress robert god and freedom. Austin pawlowski from san francisco, california. In the letter us and summed up the meaning of hanukkah. It is a tradition to light the menorah and place it by the window, how we are not afraid to show who we are or who we believe in. In austins letter we asked if he could celebrate hanukkah with my family at the white house. We are thrilled to let you know austin is with us. Come on up here. Come on up here. It is only wants to say a few words . Come on, lets get with it. Thank you for having me at the white house. Very unexpected. My mom pulled me out of school, the white house called. I was in the middle of lunch, probably one of the first times i was ever speechless. Thank you for having me here. [laughter and applause] good job. He didnt know he was going to do that, considering we got you by surprise. Stay with the first lady. It is a trump yarmulke. Do you have that . Across our country Jewish American strength sustained inspired the nation. As president i will always celebrate and honor the jewish people and i will always stand with our treasured friend and ally, the state of israel. That i can tell you. Two years ago i recognized the true capital of israel and we opened the American Embassy in jerusalem. And we got it built. They were thinking where 1 billion 2 billion, i did it for 350,000. We got a building that was in beautiful shape and the best location there is. We got it done. It was opened in four months and i dont know, maybe someday they will build a more expensive version of it but it cant get much better. Cant get much better than we have. The best location. And order from 1 billion 2 billion and look for a piece of land, land in jerusalem is rare and expensive. Do you think we have a piece . David friedman, our ambassador did is fantastic job. We did a fantastic job. They want to spend 2 billion. I said go check it out. We can do it for 250,000, maybe 300,000 and we have a better location and any location we could have had and it has been open for a long time. Friends of mine like jerusalem stone, it cost a fortune. Over there it wasnt so expensive. I also recognized israels sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And what was bigger, what we did for israel in terms of moving the embassy to jerusalem, becoming the capital of israel or the Golan Heights which you have been looking to do for 52 years, you have been having 52 meetings in the Golan Heights. I said which is bigger, which is more important to the jewish people . Neither. What is happening . What you did by terminating the Iran Nuclear Deal is bigger. I think that is true. Could be true. I sort of agree with that. We are taking a historic action. In a few moments i will sign an executive order to combat antisemitism. This action makes clear that title vi of the Civil Rights Act which prohibits the federal funding of universities and other institutions that engage in discrimination applies to institutions that traffic in antisemitic hate. This is a very powerful document we are signing today. It has been a big story the last number of days, they have almost universal support in congress but didnt get it done. And there was a roadblock, it is much easier. And this is my message to universities. If you want to accept the tremendous amount of dollars you get every year you must reject antisemitism. My administration will never tolerate suppression, persecution or silencing of the jewish people. We have also taken a firm stand against the socalled divestment and sanctions movement or bds. You know that very well. Jared kushner and ivanka have been talking about this for three years, maybe longer than that. I go back three years where something i could do about it. Before that, not quite as much, just like you. Successful, doing nicely but not for this. They have been talking from the beginning of the administration, bringing this up but we forcefully condemned this antisemitic campaign against the state of israel and its we are profoundly a survivor of the nazi holocaust, the darkest chapter of human history. After the war rosalie came to america and started a great manufacturing business. Now she has written a book, started an awardwinning film and is going strong at the age of 102. You are looking good. Thank you for being here. It is an honor and you fill our hearts with hope and joy, so many people, we know of your story. In honor of rosalie and the millions of jews who suffered and thinkable persecution we renew our pledge now and always, never again, never again. Today we thank god for the jewish people whose love and loyalty, brilliance and bravery, resilience and resolve, spirited strength, bless america and the world, before i signed the executive order i would like to ask oscar to say a few words and jonathan will light the menorah. Thank you very much. This is a great moment. What i want to say, scripture teaches us that when the jewish armies went to fight, to conquer the land of israel, general speak to the men and say leave if you are afraid. I always wondered why it says this if youre afraid to leave because god was fighting for them. I came back with my own because you have no faith in god. Today i stand with a group of people who have tremendous faith in god and we are all of different faiths and are here with one thing in mind, to end hate. I am proud to stand here the day this was signed, this is a momentous moment in my life and i want to thank the president and the first lady for everything they have done for israel but more important, america is a nation of many many people and we need to remember whatever god you pray to, whatever. And you practice we are allamericans and need to love each other and that will conquer hate. Once again thank you very much. Im deeply honored. I appreciate it. I see Alan Dershowitz. Come on up here for a second and i would like to ask my friends, the pastors, to come up here. I have to say to the other pastors some of them have been very kind we never had such evangelical christians support. Come on up here. You have been doing such a good job legally to make sure all of this happens but Robert Jeffress, i watch him on different shows and say i like that guy and he talks really great about me and i like people that talk well about me. He was saying he may not be the greatest christian i have ever seen, he may not know the bible quite as well as the rest of us in fact he may not know it well at all but that guy is a real leader and i dont know if i should have appreciated that statement but i did and we have led because they moved us toward faith leaders. We got rid of the Johnson Amendment which was a disaster so i would like to ask robert if you can see a couple words and if i could ask Alan Dershowitz to stay and we will sign an important document. It is true. I believe donald trump is the most profaith president in history. When you look at what he has done for people of all faiths and jewish and christian believers alike believe what Robert Jeffress what god said to abraham, that god would bless those who bless israel and curse those who curse israel. I want to thank you for being the kind of president who has the courage to stand up and be when it comes to israel on the right side of history but most importantly on the right side of god and that is why you are not going to fail and we are going to stand by 100 . For 65 of my 81 years i have spent at universities all over the country and all over the world there is no more important event in those 65 years to turn universities away from being bastions of hatred and discrimination than this executive order being signed today. It is a game changer. It will go down in history as one of the most important events in the 2000 year battle against antisemitism. Thank you, you did a great great job. The people who helped you do this did a great job and you will be remembered by history for all time for having signed this very important order, thank you. [applause] should we do it . [inaudible conversations] [applause] i just want to thank donald trump for his leadership on behalf of america what we have seen the president accomplish the past few years has been extraordinary. When donald trump decided, and what they have never done before will do it all the expectations have been greatly exceeded. The plans to achieve has put in place under the president s leadership produced economic miracles for this country and im confident the best is to come. And keeping allamerican safe, keeping america free, keeping america respectful. I want to thank you for your amazing leadership and what we do to protect so many people. [applause] we will light the menorah. [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible conversations] happy hanukkah. It has been a great day, thank you very much. Thank you very much.
