Cspan2. Here we go. Excellent. Thank you so much for coming tonight we want to welcome you to our new home we are so honored and thankful that you are here. We are not here for us to probably the you know brian kill mead from his job on fox and friends. It is the mosthe popular morning cable new show on the planet 213 months two weeks and four days you might also know brian from his National Syndicated radio show the brian kill mead show which 150 radio stations across the country and was named one of the ten most talk radio host in america. Between tv and radio he is on the airwaves six hours a day five days a week but yet he has found the time to write bestselling book George Washington secret six Thomas Jefferson the tripoli pirates Andrew Jackson the miracle of new orleans each have reached over two. 5 million readershed around the world which is very impressive. His latest book which we are celebrating tonight is sam houston and the alamo avengers another bestseller that debuted last week at number three on the New York Times bestseller list. [applause] now is that not at number three now hes at number two you are in for a treat i have good news for you tonight you are taking home a a signed copy of his new book and he said he might take a few questions if you are kind to him so welcome back to the bestseller list thank you for being here. [applause] thank you for coming out tonight and really dont know. Anybody. But you all seem very nice and welldressed youre all wearing the same type of blue which is a little bit scary. Doing such an incredible job lead the way with the publicity you can have the best book in the best message and the best story but there are so many great books out there right now but you have to have the right plan to launch this is my sixth book overall i have never had things hit like this. We have been out for three weeksoi we are doing the best we can to get the word out. And it will be worth it to see this professionalism to know you are drinking and needing for free makes me feel better. Its also great to have a historyo book out with the impeachment trialen happening. And with those for major stories so my goal is to get away from politics there is enough bush and clinton and obama books there is nothing to bring new to this city. My goal is to tell an american story and in a way that mccullough and brinkley and meacham they did it comprehensively and i say i know one thing for sure i cant do that so i want to do is to know who is on the cover when you open it up to understand more about the people that made them great. Like many people in the room you do it without fame and claim america is made up of average people doing extraordinary things without getting a pat on the back they were known of their time but not our time. I love washington great when you close it you think of rosa parks and abraham and Thomas Jefferson in the tripoli herates hes a genius. Thats true you know about James Decatur and my goal is vethis if you are at the water cooler or ther sports bar when people challenge you to say americas history everybodys proud of their history. Everybodys proud of their past. I want to give you more proof to sit thereon in america i hit the lotto leakage play in the super bowl all we want is a chance to be successful. We dont want the outcome hocided we dont want guaranteed 1000 but the lands clay landscape cloud the best we can so if f i can tell thoses, stories so now we try to find another story of Andrew Jackson and the miracle of new orleans and go back to texas. Anybody from texas . You are so prideful of your past i didnt know there is such a big difference between American History and Texas History i didnt really look in 1800 texas was just wide open it was up to moses austin to cut a deal he cannot fulfill the deal but austin was believe it or not they wanted new shot after new shot and a chance to be successful to see what texas had to offer they got a gun and a rake and a plow and they made a living so now they could stand up and fight for freedom i thought that was a story important to tell if i could introduce you to sam houston this guy should have been president he was mentored by Andrew Jackson and now to do something of always wanted to do because i watch the liberace movies because i believe there based on a true story. [laughter] or on the rocky movies they flashback to the previous rocky movie its great now i remember why am in the theater. I can open up with Andrew Jackson to tell the story inle the battle that had to be fought if the british would have one they would have turned over the Louisiana Purchase and stopped us from going into mississippi but sam houston is fighting under Andrew Jackson so i will start from there and in 1814 sam houston talk about courage he thought he was impervious he was shot three times and should have died. Was time to get a commission he goes to washington pretty close to here according to the map it burned to the ground what does it learn the country is fragile and courage has to be calculated in some of the toughest man in america if you tell them to do something they dont want to do we have to win it and right now hes training them and gathering them shaping the battlefield so i thought if we could tell the story and i can arm you with another story about this great country even though we pull each other apart if i tell you how bad it was you will not overreact about Rudy Giuliani and ukraine. [laughter] [applause] so lets do a short timeout lets watch sam houston in the alamo avengers has it aired on fox news. 17766 days later this time it was mexico in the battle for texas. Texas happened to be an independent state the battle changed he immediately shelved liberty. Those who controlled san antonio word control that whole area of texas instead of colonel travis and the volunteers to make to the surprise of many to take over the alamo nation sam houston had orders to evacuate and also one of the most famous man in america. And it is freedom or death that most people are not courageous on their own look at what the people you are around for 13 days hundreds or 1000 casualties every texan killed as a way to intimidate sam houston. 1836 at the alamo massacre with 400 men to be engaged is that engagement that he never wanted to see happen but once again he hesitates in his car in the middle of an open field and sam entrusted but he did and then he was executed. Houston knew he had to get one of the most toughest orders in his career he had to retreat. This is now a war of attrition. From formation and strategy sam houston and the texas army to make this decision from santa ana and the mexican army after more celebration to finally fight the first and only time santa ana and houston would square off it was only 18 minutes. Thats the time the mexican army it went on for another two hours. T the group that god annihilated at the alamo was massacred it takes 18 minutes quick. They achieved the ultimate surprise in American History. Leading the fight to freedom and victory to change the country and soon the world. We have to get our reenactors in better shape. [laughter] the muscular john wayne characters but i give them credit for showing up thatwi day and then santa ana was a as we captured they hang him from then they decide to call up the reinforcements so courage has to be calculated revenge has to be calculated they pull up santa ana bring him to jackson in washington ultimately he oversees the fact he went back to mexico this went on 20 more years but that was the story. That is sam houston the alamo avengers because i believe that is what changed American History then remove south ande west also understand jackson firmly believed texas came with the Louisiana Purchase he could not believe secretary of state adams and monroe signed it over. We dont talk about that but back then that was one of the hottest issues in the country and i just thought by going back to reclaim that and understand it and explain it people would tap into their patriotism again i just hope people will be interested in Thomas Jefferson and the tripoli pirates i know people can relate to it and Andrew Jackson a 13 yearold who loses his entire family but by the time this book comes out i feel like the pushback for those who dont understand how great this country is and i have no problem saying that. We are not perfect but we try in the reason we argue and fight because we argue in front of strangers but when its all said and done we have the same goal we just want to make the country a better place. I would like to take some questions from you and tell you that i woke up at 230 and have to be on the air tomorrow if youre ever in orlando or virginia will be going for the next two months donald trump junior has a head start at the famous ad who is on twitter now. [laughter] a hes a great guy and its a b great book. Anybody have f questions. Let me explain something i am a mets fan. [laughter] i am not a yankee hater. So obviously they embrace that team on a serious note i used to do all sports radio and what happened in 2017 with the yankees about what the astros were doing i dont know how baseball will get on top of this because if im the dodgers im not too happy if im the yankees im not too happy. So with a hole sign stealing things a baseball cannot get out of their ownwnwn way. Thats a first. Thank you. I dont know. Im wide open i have to find something in the next four or five weeks then i will retire and have the Retirement Party [laughter] trying to identify a district you know the headline but not the details but fox let me do an hour special on the alamo while other channels are doing i could go sam houston so that was pretty cool also fox nation let me do this series so i got a chance to travel the country to do separate documentaries over the last 18 months on all the things you probably dont know or have forgotten and thats been a great experienceee. I started as a sports guy i thought that would be the quickest way to get on the airab and it probably was but when i want to take a break i open a history book thats that i was passionate for i never thought i would write whenever but one bill oreilly started his great books and encourage me so much when i told him i had this idea over 20 years and sgave him details he said you have to write that and i was handing him chapters as he hands them back to me and when it was done with said you should get out so i quit doing standup if you get a laugh before the low one the close then leave. So for 20 years little did i know i dont have a backup so what was so successful what you interested in i said we are kneedeep in binde laden anytime somebody writes a perspective why we are on this war jefferson dealt with at first thats what led me to the Jefferson Library where they could give me the original documents and i said let me try that next thing you know im doing jackson and now im standing here are talking about the alamo im an accidental historical author it. I is passionate about i know we were shooting each other back then i get it there were duels but there was a sense of service has to be more about the service of the country and we just decide to do this in the paperback sam houston told texas as governor were not going to civil war were not joining the confederacy and said i will provide troops and many if you take texas back we dont want texas in the confederacy because jackson ruled out keeping the country together first they wereso outraged the New England States do not want to join the war of 1812 because it was all about Country First he was outraged South Carolina wanted to secede think of politicians today have to say to the cells whats better for the country i have a belief that compromise will be in soon but if someone on the democratic side or somebody moderate winds that they will sit down to do immigration in healthcare we no matter how brilliant you think your healthcare immigration plan is as soon as the other one gets power they will tear it up you will tear up theres nothing will get done. So we have to compromise and it will become en vogue soon. Do you think im right . You dont. I wanted to go beyond the alamo but when i asked how to do this to our broader audience of 49 states and i felt as if i told it comprehensively there might be a market for it but i love the fact guys like bill collins phil collins and Stanley Mcchrystal join me at the alamo on the special and says military colleagues 8 still study at 180 guys can hold off 3000 plus for days with just a few more they could have one with the legend that he is if he didnt have Something Like tuberculosis or scurvy or whatever he suffered from a think he would still be alive thats how they wrote about the sky they wouldve found a way. Did you ever have a sparring match. He kicked me in the thigh really hard left half if you go to his house you make a right at the helipad. [laughter] you go to his house but as what you are alluding to i didnt fight him i called him and i watched before there were divisions if you want you go back to the locker room for the championship assume a guy weighing 450 pounds or 600 pounds to go against the 180pound guy and knock out his two teeth and land on jim brown it was interesting experience i was the first into the octagon when it was designed to back then they wanted me to do interviews to say do you mind telling the press somebody can die tonight . I said imt. Not sign saying that the somebody could have died that night nobody ever predicted it would be the successful. The one thing about them get a hotel room because he will fight you all night. My producer who is pregnant and on the book tour with me we have had the most interesting tour ever outside major cities omaha lincoln and Dayton Wichita falls and waco texas and San Antonio South bend indiana i am finding when you go to texas i cannot believe how many people are related to sam houston with the paperwork who fought in the battle when you go to orlando or washington i moved here a year ago when you say they ive been here 30 or 40 or 50 years my family fought the revolution this is warped terrain i dont even see a mountain so the pride that they have with each other and their history that is what i have taken t away some people say they are related to the story and thank you for keeping the family story alive thats what i walk away with. Thank you for that question thank you for throwing the party and thank you to our representatives and for coming out. [applause] thank you. As a native texan this is the best night of my life. [applause] i have four or five pieces of all good news the best is brian will be in the big Conference Room taking photos if you would like a photo with him theres a way to get one were trying to get them out of your quickly because we understand his schedule but if you want to grab a photo make your way that way in the second but another piece of good news as you leave tonight and we hope you will not leave for a while because there is so much food and drink left we are hoping you will help but there will be gift bags and signed copies of the book my friend gave us some for everybody.
