First of all thank you for joining us. I want to start with a conversation dominating washington there was a Committee Hearing yesterday this morning your chairman held a press conference over articles of achievement one impeachment this is not the road you wanted to go down so why is it necessary now . Good morning. When the chairman made the announcement and with the press Conference Announcing the us mexico Canada Agreement we have come a long way from the original proposal the administration had given us so the press people said wow the day is shown. [laughter] so it is a very solemn day actually nobody comes to congress to impeach the president and they way the equities of others and that i didnt impeach him for the war in iraq so really there is no good cause and then we disagree on policy but thats not what this is about its about the oath of office that we take to protect and defend the constitution of the United States the separation of power the monarchy is what they fought against so the first order of business to anyone engaged is to protect and defend the constitution of the United States they wish it were not necessary i wish the presence absence did not make it necessary but it did and he will be delinquent to honor our oath of office. There is discussion about obstruction of justice as one of the articles why did you ultimately decide . The Committee Members having legislation investigations and litigation for a long time and came to the conclusion i dont know if what we are not bringing forward there are very serious violations of the constitution undermining the National Security of the United States jeopardizing the integrity of our elections thats right at the heart of checks and balances of the oval office so this is what is in the tower going forward. And thats a more narrowly focused. Maxine waters, Carolyn Maloney ritchie neil adam schiff and jerry nadler. Those were in order of seniority. [laughter] one of the biggest criticisms is the speed. Seriously. Its been going on 22 months. [laughter] that there has been some criticism or if you wait for the courts why do you think now is the time. To a half years ago they initiated the molar investigation its about urgency one of the charges against the president of the United States saying he was violating the oath of office by asking for government to interfere in our election undermining the integrity of our elections if we did not hold him accountable he would continue to undermine our elections nothing less is at stake than the Central Point of our democracy of a free and Fair Election not to be disrupted by foreign powers and the founders were very concerned about that so they gave the house the path to correct that impeachment. Not the opportunity because i dont see it that way but there is a sense of urgency we sought the facts presented in the hearing of the Service Officers made known to the public and as the coach usual experts and the fax and the constitution. There it is. We do this with Great Sadness and somberly and prayerfully for the constitution of the United States and any president the matter who they may be go down this path we say goodbye to the republic and hello to a president king and that is whats at stake at the selection and when we come to the election people say do that thats not what impeachment is about if you think he is a coward to protect children from gun violence or how he treats dreamers or in denial of climate thats the election that has nothing to do with the facts of the case of the president violating the oath of office undermining the National Security issues and the constitutional issue as it relates to what he can pass. So nothing happens in a vacuum republicans believe their path is through 31 districts through President Trump one and impeachment is not possible. If you believe the constitution is violated and democracy is at stake then as franklin told us a republic if you can keep it and this is jeopardizing that, what are we here for cracks to continue to have a job cracks we take an oath to protect and defend if we could not do that we would be delinquent in our duties so this is about the constitution. [applause] that has nothing to do with it. Its not about politics or democrats or republicans this is about patriotism dont take the oath then take impeachment out a president can do whatever he wants that a president that says i can do whatever i want it doesnt say that at all. We do have checks and balances with branches of government article one is preeminent article two is the presidency but if you think i can impeach him but he cannot impeach me. We started this conversation when the chairman announces articles of impeachment and then press conference on usmca trade deal. There are several critics on the left talking about impeaching the president that that waiting until the election. The same thing as before this isnt about politics with the us mexico Canada Agreement i dont think anyone of us is so important including the president of the United States that given an opportunity to advance or americas interest to have an opportunity to do the right thing by the American People that we should walk away from it because of him it just isnt worth it but none of this is worth it so some people have said those that like to amplify any dissent we are so far away from those proposals this is miles and has yielded on what this is but nonetheless he will claim he voted i dont know but with the environment talk about workers rights it was miles and much better than what we wanted to replace of nafta but way better than what the president was proposing but then to get benefit from something that doesnt mean we shouldnt have the benefit for our country pass up that opportunity. Now were dealing with other countries. I think nafta but with this new were version you said it would cost the democrats seats . No. This is a different bill. I supported. What i learned from that dont depend on any side letters within the treaty or the enabling legislation for that to happen and so thats why i was very firm i regret that people did not live up that they would be there but good things came from nafta but we learned from that and if you have a trade agreement it has to be within the treaty you are talking about which applies to the other countries with enabling legislation which facilitates the treaty i will send you a letter or do a sidebar. Really it is an achievement and in my view it can be a template for future trade agreements to remove all doubt to separate them that the administration wouldnt let us talk can you imagine that cracks that we can talk about the environment and climate with the tpp. And that common practice. And that distance as the defender of the white house and this is so important and you cannot separate the economy but that is an election issue. But in terms of this legislation because then you know better than anyone of the impact so we have come to a consensus certainly not anyone because of the president. Last week you got very impassioned i dont think i have ever seen you like that before and it really seemed to hit a nerve so many times women try to keep their emotions in check. The equivalent i dont even like the word is i didnt even know who he was. [laughter] but you dont hate a person like did you beat your children before you came here today cracks to be so insulted. And should we say projecting of where he was coming from himself and you must be haters quoting another number number of congress. But one country one destiny to have explicit constitution of the United States you cannot imagine how many there would be. And they thought and those who came after them. And how we deal with this it is in a way with prayer from the sand decency and honesty and those that have navigated all of this but all of them as well. So if the other side doesnt want to honor the oath of office and using hate to project their own i have to draw the line. What are you talking about . s he was talking with words. [laughter] [applause] your relationship with President Trump is one of the most talked about in washington. Does have a hard time dealing with women in power . Im not in any position. [laughter] if to meet the president of the United States i respect tha that. I try to be cooperative when i can but also have to honor the constitution of the United States. And disrupting our elections and not to honor what congress to give military assistance to ukraine to invaded the eastern border to take crimea as its own 13000 that have died at the hands of elections of military aid. Until he got caught and then more people are dying who benefits . Russia disrupting our elections. When he made the statement that he made. And growing respectfully this morning in fact and as a Campaign Official what democratic lawmaker today respect they said you does this surprise you . Nothing surprises me. [laughter] surprise is not a word in my vocabulary. This is not normal. And to agree with president bush and with those other areas of agreement with refund ability of families in america. And as dinner in washington. And that is very different. And to lead what we believe confident in what we know about and humble. So where do we find Common Ground . And to stand our ground where we can to find Common Ground. And examining more women power but also looking at more to come. My colleagues recently wrote a story you have a Record Number of women so does it make a difference and it is a decision and an individual decision to help someone else run. And then with 435 people there were 12 Democratic Women and 11 republican women. We made a decision that every election we will add to our numbers. Now we have 106 women were elected in the last election. [applause] ninetyone of those were democrats they went from 11 to 15 we went from 12 to 91. Because we made a decision. Nothing is more wholesome than the political process and now with congress lgbtq thats very exciting you are too young but read about it in the history book that with watergate this was transformative it was a big class and in the first year not one of those freshmen was chair of the subcommittee or had a gavel but in this class they are 18 freshmen that have a gavel intent of them are women hr men also to the first native american and chair of the public land subcommittee that for a few days after she was sworn and she had a gavel. So again now we have about 35 women chairing so it is important to decide what you will take up and who you will recognize and power. And for women to have a seat at the table. [applause] and they are all fabulous Maxine Waters financial services, services, johnson , Science Technology and space Karen Maloney and the chair. There is a lot of them. The House Administration committee as the mayor of capitol hill. And the list goes on. We have a lot of questions and little bit of time. That we have talked over the years saying that they face a double standard asking about your retirement all the time is it unfair that women feel like that . I dont care. [laughter] [applause] that is their problem. It is relative but it is interesting and Mitch Mcconnell and all that but i really dont care i know why i am there and those that somebody wants to drum up. This week we are putting through this transformative piece of legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs called the Elisha Cummings lower drug cost act. [applause] that only lowering the cost of prescription drugs that use the savings to transform medicare benefits and more from medicare that has ever been done. And hoping to get around to that to make sure with all drilling one australia and japan and uk and in addition to what happened we will be going to rules with hr three legislation with the 2 million americans for the ad worker bill. Today we had the Defense Authorization of the National Security and with the health and wellbeing for those of military families and paid parental leave for all federal employees. [applause] i want to ask about government funding will that get done next week . I have a meeting on that when i leave here all of these things we want to get done by the end of the session of congress but that must be done and that is the highest priority when we go back to capitol hill. You heard it here first. Actually there are some in the field but it is unsettled you have people coming in are you concerned about the state of the primaries to beat donald trump . No. So people say what you just combine . To make thats not the point. It is for the public to decide. So at some point to identify with issues but we will have fewer candidates in having the public and when we do we will all be 100 percent whoever she or he may be. There is a thirst in this country for kennedy to emerge for everyones future and the economy and that Strategic Thinking and that person that shows vision and knowledge and connects with the American People no matter what else you say, authenticity is everything and that is your connection with the American People that you authentically identify with their blot hopes and dreams and aspirations. Hopes and dreams and aspirations. In terms of a Kitchen Table and that they are our priorities in that president ial candidate when that is the main event in los angeles on dash that is the main event this year we fully intend to win the house. And then you try to keep it for 2020. In 2016 people say can you win the house . I said i will tell you in november 2017 and now its 2191 year before the election i can tell you we will be in the house. We dont take anything for granted the message in a way that is progressive and mainstream we have the money to get it done and reevaluate the performance of our members of congress who are very proud of their official of performance and duties versus anybody else who wants to run against one of our candidates the president is under 50 percent they are formidable we will on the ground because people were out there for ten minutes already messaging on that. To begin i would like to say a few words about volker
