What is it that you advise the president on . Can anyone advise the president . Its an Advisory Board for the campaign. We dont talk directly to the president but we do talk to the Campaign Hierarchy we have a Conference Call and its good because we all get information in real time. We get background information. We go deeper. They get information from the sources in the white house so it helps me and others be able to have the facts straight because things happen quickly. Obviously theres a lot of distortion, a lot of political as right now. And quite frankly sometimes the president says things and its not as clear as it could be. So we go out there and explain exactly what you meant to say in cases of tweets or in cases of he said she said or pointing fingers and in cabinet rooms, those kind of things so it is fhelpful. A lot of fingers being pointed at mc mulvaney, acting chief ofstaff at the white house. We were talking to our collars about their thoughts on how hes doing in that job. How do you think hes doing in that job . Its almost an impossible job to do for anyone because you have to run the entire ntship. Everything flows to the chief of staffs office, the ideas all come there sohes had the political background in elected office. Hes got a good take. Its going less from government and more into the campaign what where the president s a declared candidate. He started with two dozen democratic candidates, now about half that so youre in the middle of a president ial campaign but things are coming from everywhere and i think what nick needs to do is nfocus on the government ffstuff, dont worry about anything else. The campaign is going to take care of the outside stuff. The president is the president , he speaks for the administration and his campaign and mc mulvaney has to concern himself with what hes been doing and people on the republican side think hes been doing a good job. How do you think he compares to Reince Priebus . All three different styles. It was a time when everyone got in unexpectedly because the president wasnt supposed to win in the campaign so it was a shotgun marriage where you had folks from the Republican National committee and all the states trying to put people together to serve in nthe cabinet and then of course you had general kelly with his nonpartisan background, more in war strategy and the military coming andtrying to bring in more discipline. And then you had mulvaney whos got a little bit of both. He understands the politics which is necessary and important in that job everything is political on both sides whether its the legislature or the executive branch. Everything ultimately is political he also understands things have to move and how to get it done as far as the government does. How you take something from the white house, a policy initiative and move it through the chambers of the atsenate and the house. So they all have their pluses, everyone as a minus but hes moving the ball and wegot 12 months to go. For the campaign. Where in the middle of an electionseason right now. Large really focusing around the country. I was out all weekend with my kids at their school event and im trying to get people to comment. What do you think of this impeachment and was going on with this area and i think thats a big problem for the democrats because unless they have an overwhelming majority of the american people, understanding what the issue is and agreeing with them, this really is just seen for what it is and i is a highly partisan fight which really hasnt abated since the night the president one, became president elect and i was at the hotel that night. I remember walking out like four in the morning onto the streets of sixth avenue in new york city and the protests were already multiplying everywhere. Theres signs impeachment, not our president really illegitimate and im like okay, this is going to be fun and the next day i had come back into new york city and traffic was paralyzed because organized protests were going e everywhere. This hasnt stopped that night and this is the culmination of the impeachment which they stay one area. Who would you like to see come out of the democratic primary and who would concern you the most in terms of getting the president reelected . Im not concerned and i dont see this in a bad way, im not concerned with any of them because if this were a typical year, they had policies, that democrats were supporting 10 or 10 or 15 to 20 years ago it would beabout. Right now, nobodys paying attention except cspan viewers which are really organized and really partisan but also information oriented. Same thing with me on cnn or any of the other networks. People who view and watch that are really participatory. Most of the people in america right now are not opreally its 12 months away from an election. You go through the litany of things hes been talking about and trying to get done and every time hes had a solution, you could agree or disagreewith the solution but at least hes put something forward. The democrats have blocked them or they want to court and had a liberal judge locket. So in action somewhat in government has been because its a political since day one, hyper partisan but i think most people are just like not really paying attention as much as we are but with regard to the democratic policies and this is when i say when everyone says the president in a difficult racefor reelection, he is in the 43 percent range right now Ronald Reagan , and barack obama , a year before the election, they were in the low 40s as well.
