You have borrowed this phrase for your buck, why connect. Because its telling what people tend to forget about with witchhunts there are no real witches but this overwhelming irrational desire to believe that witches exist is what propels the witchhunt and that is what happened here in an astonishing array of theoretically smart people convince themselves and millions of others that the president had committed the most noxious crime there is in the criminal code treason. Treason is conspiracy with flat amir putin hatched in the bowels of the kremlin to steal the 2016 election and it was based on not a shred of credible evidence and the book explains how now we know through testimony of those involved they never had any possible evidence to launch the original fbi investigation in 2016 and nine months later when the special counsel was appointed they still had no evidence and implement itself violated the regulations authorizing the opponent and i explained how, in the book, one of the things that struck me as truly amazing is that the payment was made by the Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein and wasnt based on the evidence or the law but based on vengeance. He named the special counsel because rosenstein had become angry with the president and was overwrought and emotional and in an act of retaliation he appointed bob mueller. Think about this at 22 month Long National nightmare because one guy got angry and knew what he had done was wrong in the day of the appointment after it was announced hes confronted in his office about what he had done in his abuse of power and a violation of the immigration and he cowers behind his desk and levers am i going to get fired back that tells you he knew what he had done was wrong. If he had gotten fired earlier we might have avoided this drama. Go back to this whole idea of donald trump prebeen elected to the presidency and his relationship with russia. I still have flashbacks to all the interviews and stuff in the runup to the republic of nomination and the general election in 2016 there was always this intrigue about donald trump was made by russia or bailed out by russia and like a constant theme and there were scant facts or even details but where does this come from . It began originally with Hillary Clinton in 2016. She began began to pepper her speeches with references to trump and putin that trump might be a kremlin marionette. Do you think she believe that or was it potent politics . One of the Unanswered Questions was did she get it from cia director john brennan who was already beginning to investigate trump and any potential ties with russia and is described in the book as the instigator of the witchhunt and put together an Interagency Task force that grew to be the foundation of the russia hoax in the investigation and was used by the fbi and in particular peter struck who was the head of counterintelligence for the fbi and the point person in the witchhunt. We dont know whether it was something that came from the rich imagination of Hillary Clinton or john bannon or both and James Clapper was involved in turns out to be the prodigious leaguer and i explain his leaks in the book but it all came to a head when Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National committee paid for russian this information that was composed by an ex british spy, Christopher Christopher steele and the amazing part and explain us in turn one is that puts together his anti trump dossier licketysplit within the course of ten days1414 days from being hired. Thats impossible. You read the first memo of his dossier and thats the kind of information that would take months, if not years of working Human Resource information on the ground in russia and had not been in russia in more than ten years. Its almost as if he picked up the telephone, called the the kremlin and said, give me something, anything, whether true or not about donald trump. I think in the end he was simply fed russian disinformation with little tidbits of truth which was classic russian disinformation but the truth was Public Information that anybody could find on the internet. Did Christopher Steele or brennan and the obama appointe appointees, did they use allies like the brits and others to try to handle some of this, quote unquote, dark spot that they could wash their hands of the fact that disinformation was being dredged up to stop trump . You know, the cia, then under then under john bannon the director, are not allowed under u. S. Law to spy on american citizens. They are prevented from that but its strange they seem to be able to. Well, they did. They outsourced it to foreign governments and people in Foreign Countries. They were able to lure some key people in the Trump Campaign and were minor figures but they regarded them as key people. Overseas so that they could feed them information that could be used to justify their investigation and the used competent to informants like longtime cia asset, professor by the name of [inaudible] in Great Britain and the fbi or cia were not quite sure sends in an fbi analyst under a fake name by the name of [inaudible] who is described as a sexy bottle blonde to seduce George Papadopoulos whose minor peripheral volunteer junior advice on the Trump Campaign and what they and up getting is not in Community Information because there was no income and eating but what they got was exculpatory information which was then hidden. In the backyard. Amazing how that worked. But in order to understand this rotten stench i dont like saying it becomes from a lot of high up lawenforcement officials or government you kind of have to wind the tape back and go all the way back, not all the way back to the clinton scandals because thats a long tape but the Hillary Clinton the ben ghazi tragedy and her decision to keep servers in the bathroom of their home and her decision to have an outside the normal government process to collect emails and data and all of that which obviously becomes quite a scandal as Robert Mueller as the fbi director or im sorry james, has to go through a to figure out how to i handle all this scandal and you have to go back there because in reading your book again felt like i lived every moment but its quite extraordinary. Oh, it is. Tell the listeners the story. Chapter one is entitled a tale of two cases. It compares the clinton investigation to the trump investigation. It demonstrates the disparity of treatment and the unequal prosecution injustice that is dispensed, not based on the law, but based on politics and partisanship. She never sworn in in the process. Know. So, the bottom line is that Hillary Clinton committed multiple acts that constitute felonies. Its abundantly clear british in a private server and its a violation of the espionage act. Classified information stored in her home. For people who say well, but james called me said theres no similar case that someone has been prosecuted for that, i name all the individuals that event prosecuted for executive what Hillary Clinton did. When cummings stood up and said reasonable prosecutor would bring such a thats just not true. Reasonable prosecutors have brought innumerable cases and james comey what date Hillary Clinton did was a crime, multiple criteria infect 110 crimes are presenting 110 classified documents stored in her home. He actually wrote a statement two months before shes even interviewed and 17 other key people are interviewed and in it he uses the language of the espionage act and was closely negligent. But then presents that statement to staff and says but i still want to clear her. The staff says you cant clear her if you found her guilty of a crime under the espionage act so pivotal date occurs in which peter struck sitdown at his computer and with his lover, lisa paige standing page standing over his shoulder and laminates the terminating words grossly negligent and substitutes something that is actually under the law identical in synonymous that sounds different and is not in the committal code extreme the careless which had been borrowed from barack obama. Based on that he cleared Hillary Clinton interested the packs and contorted the law to clear her. Doesnt he later say he was ordered to do that connect. Yes, by the barman of justice headed up by the redolent who just before james comey clears clinton meets on a tarmac in a painting with still clinton but theyre just talking about grandkids and golf. She goes much of her success in career and to her abilities but also to being a close ally. Sure, he elevated elevated her. She eventually became the attorney general but he advanced her career. She then pretends to recuse herself in at the case but does not actually recuse herself from the case. You know, there are people who dont like the clintons and did not vote for Hillary Clinton who really get into the whole dynamic of the story and we have people watching this show who are clinton supporters and think that maybe a story with a book with the title, witch hunt, might bring out the worst of what Hillary Clinton did and i happen to believe theres a lot to write about in terms of that but why does it matter connect so she breaks the espionage act and says she is for an air of convenience and we can understand that but we have our devices and its more convenient though i was a problem to keep her emails and phone herbal. She had jeopardized National Security. As i explained in the book documents, subsequent to her being cleared, devastated devastated that Foreign Countries obtain her emails and that comes through in the testimony. Yes. In classified documents as well. That jeopardizes our National Security and thats the whole purpose of the espionage act. So when President Trump before he was president on the campaign that china could get his emails was that she says she she pleaded emails and there is no record of these emails but its a fact that our enemies read the emails and probably have copies of emails that it was ironic and tragic but maybe truthful that they have copies. Oh, stated he was referring to russia they have her missing emails. It was awfully sad in just but it turned out that it was likely true that some of the hacked emails ended up in russian hands because they were attacked through a russian server. The other piece that is hard for people who support the clintons and voted for Hillary Clinton is great, so what . This was about hot yoga and wedding plans and where we would meet for dinner but it all the research he did and this is quite an Extensive Research project they are indications that the emails were destroyed because they were Sensitive Conversations about things like ben ghazi and things as a candidate for the highest office in the land would have been politically damaging had people known. Yes. She wasnt entirely successful in destroying those 33000 emails. That by itself with the objection of justice because congress had asked her to preserve it and when you defy congress with a subpoena attached to it that is an instruction of justice. You literally to said the other week that they werent under subpoena and she reprimanded the president before and did she destroy these emails after congress made it clear they wanted to see them connect. Congress had sent in writing a request to preserve evidence and thats sufficient enough. The subpoena was forthcoming but that still objection of justice. It turns out that some of the emails she destroyed turned up elsewhere and some of them contained very sensitive government information so it wasnt yoga and wedding plans. Are they public . No, not all. Her explanation is simply untr untrue. And yet, in addition to violating the espionage act and the evidence is overwhelming that she did she destroyed documents that congress had demanded and when you receive preservation letter you got to abide by it. Not only that but im a government former Government Official and wife recently left Government Service and this is her second go around and you have navigation to retain records that is related to you on the very first day of the job if you dont need a letter from progress or from an id or anyone to notify you that you should keep records but you told immediately that you have to keep those records. The reason is because when you work for an administration or as a cabinet secretary every day is history and the taxpayer has a right to be able to have a process whereby everyone gets to see that information because its part of our history in the foundation of democracy is transparency and accountability. Under the federal records act anything you do in writing in the course and scope of your employment as a public official is not your property but the government and the american peoples property. There was nothing on Hillary Clintons state Department Email account. Empty. Zero. Everything she did in the course and scope of her employment was kept in her home on a private server and, as i mentioned, jeopardizing national jeopardizing National Security but also by leading federal law and signed a document on her first day in office as secretary of state to saying i understand these rules and she received a tutorial on here is the law you must follow it. She signed two separate documents acknowledging it insane i will abide by it but she already knew that from her service in the United States senate having received the same instructions about how you have to preserve documents and you cannot jeopardize National Security by licking them so and as first lady as well. Yes, she not ignore them with impunity because she felt she was about the law and that the rules do not apply to her. You are a lawyer in with your legal background . I was defense attorney for many years in San Francisco. A lot of people to defend other. Yes. [laughter] and most of my clients are still behind bars. Thats a lawyer joke. Ive taught law in law school and my point is that if you look at this black letter law you know you sign the documents which adds Hillary Clinton herself an id educated lawyer is saying you several different very senior government jobs and understand the concept of records because theres a library that overhangs the river they are in little rock and they know about records because they have a whole museum of records and you dont get to pick and choose what those records are and if its hillary with a different surname what kind of legal penalties would someone face . Inevitable federal indictment issued by a grand jury. Frankly its a slamdunk case. Loretta lynch knows this and james comey knows this so what intervenes as you said to make that it stopped at Loretto Lynch just aint that we will not go prosecute this and its not matter and an investigation . We know former top officials at the fbi who were there at the time all of this unfolded testified behind closed doors and that testimony has since been released and very few journalists have read it and i dug through it all and youre talking thousands of pages of testimony but for example, lisa page at the fbi admitted under oath that they were told by the hermit of justice that no charges would be brought against Hillary Clinton and so call me straight in front of cameras and said that the permit of justice does not know what im about to do but yeah, they knew. They were directing it. A lot of people believed nothing like this couldve happened without the president , Vice President be aware and in your research you cannot find proof of that people have to surmise. How high up the food chain this went. Well, as i lay out the facts in the book, witch hunt, when the change in james comey exoneration statement was made to clear her, first implicating her and then clearing her and he seems pretty upset about that publicly. Its not emotional but seems like he was fitful because it was strange wording and uncomfortable and being so aggressive with his language it all came to an interview that barack obama had done several months before actually on fox news but a given another one is that very same thing. This was a public instruction i dont want Hillary Clinton to be prosecuted and said that what she had done was careless. Thats the language that james comey eventually adopted after finding she was in violation of the law for gross negligence. You dont think fbi director was listening to what the words of the president was using connect. He did. In fact, he told the Inspector General when he was interviewed that he paid close attention to what barack obama had said. Obama said shes just clueless and did not jeopardize National Security and thats exactly what james comey ended up saying on july 5 emma 2016 when he cleared her but he was adopting, not just the language of president obama but essentially a public order and might be do you think barack obama sent every signal he could to make sure that Hillary Clinton got a pass on legality . His method was quite clever and ingenious. There will be no paper trail and im not going to tell people at the farm and of justice or the fbi what to do. I will go on television and tell everybody what to do and they will hear it. Thats right. Thence the story takes the dastardly turn and first of all the clinton inc. As i like to call them the various aspects of the clinton world they are on defense and shes committed crimes and had to get herself out of this and theres terrible tragedy in ben ghazi and has disastrous testimony up on the hill where its not about the victims but about her in congress with the public and majority in the house goes the various iterations of investigations and the last of education which democrats were howling over how many physicians would have defined evidence of the servers and how many messages do they have in asking act. Yet, there were multiple dueling investigations going on at the same time. Trey gaudis investigation was probably the foremost but had it not been the deceptions by Hillary Clinton in the state farm and about ben ghazi we never would have discovered these private server in which hundreds of thousands of emails and classify documents were stored in her home. The dastardly turn, seems to me, the folks that you chronicle in the book in the fbi predominantly by mr. Brennan and folks in the Intelligence Community switched then and go on offense some point in this process they decide that to quote peter stzrok we have to stop him or we will stop a meaning trump. They take extraordinary measures to try to dig up dirt oversees specifically with russia to push it towards the critic in vain make the idea of voting for donald trump the repugnant thing for voters. How did that possibly happen . There were two parts to the plan. Part number one was to exploit the dossier which had been penned by vista for steel but the fbi was unable to verify. They tried mightily but they cannot wait cant verify something that does not exist. Its a pernicious lie. Part a of the plan was to leak it to the media and they assume that the media would run crazy with the story and would damage trump politically and ensure Hillary Clintons election in november 2016. While it is true that many members of the media did pick up on the story it did not quite gain traction to resonate with American Voters and trump was elected. The insurance policy was a plan b. The insurance policy, famous from the peter stzrok text messages, we have an insurance policy, the insurance policy was the fbi investigation that donald trump one we would ticket into overdrive and really go after him and make our investigation of him as a potential or arete alleged russian asset public. And they did. In fact, they did it in january 2017 before he was even sworn in to office. James comey, clapper, brennan, they contacted this plan to ambush trump at trump tower to selectively give him information about the dossier and gauge his reaction and use that meeting as a pretext to leak it to the media and that is how the dossier was published and once it was published the media was off to the races with the russia hoax. It seemed to me the troubling part about is anybody who works for a president there are times when you have to explain Sensitive Information and it is hard to the leader of the free world. It seems in this case they were using it as leverage and blackmail over the president. We have information on you. Dont think we dont know it. And that seems to be very hoover read. It really was. We thought those these were over which has me one final question before we go into the fbi consensus on a piece of the story is in all the dossier we have read about and read and watched all the indepth reporting on it in all this work that Hillary Clinton campaigned, the deep state and all the things we come to know is there any truth to any of these things that donald trump did or had any illegal actions and are there any truth in the dossier about things that are embarrassing . No. All of the collusion allegations in the dossier turned out to be untrue. You can read it in volume one of the mullah report. The fbi created a spreadsheet of all the collusion allegations and it all turned up empty. Nothing on the spreadsheet. They cannot do that or cooperate or prove anything. As Christopher Steele, author of the dossier, that the information he wrote is unverifiable. Because it came from multiple anonymous hearsay and hearsay is generally not allowed in a court of law and double hearsay is never allowed because its a farce and this was triple and quadruple hearsay. We learned in subsequent testimony and with emails and such that were passed along within the fbi that steele himself by these characters in the Obama Administration was viewed by the end of it as an unsavory character. Totally. He got fired by the fbi for lying. And feeding this information to media and he had to be fired as the fbi found out about it but they still use timber go comey goes to the fisa court to get a warrant application to sp spy. He vouches for steel as credible knowing he wasnt using Journal Communications at the time that comey felt differently and he was unsavory and knew he had lied. So the state department who this officer at the state department they met at one point before the fisa application was sign who is Christopher Steel cracks she sizes them up at about the course of an hour and realized he was a phony. And checked out one major part of the dossier. It was a consulate in florida that did not even exist. So she notified fbi and department of justice. This guy is a fraud. Be careful. They ignore the warning and went ahead to the judges and lied and deceived them to conceal evidence not just the start monday as the state department and the department of justice who is the conduit for the dossier information giving it to the fbi to warn them be careful of this information it is totally unverified. The fbi and james comey and Andrew Mccabe did not care. If they relied on the dossier that was unverified. The last time i checked lying to a judge is a fraud on the court. Its also five other potential different felonies. With the Inspector General report comes out i expected to be a damning indictment of the actions of these people especially with the deceptions of the fisa court. I worked for president george w. Bush and meetings around selecting bob mueller as fbi director for gore went to his swearingin at the rose garden with my mother. And one of her friends. It was a wonderful occasion but i remember when they were looking for candidates the one thing we heard over and over about bob mueller he is the quintessential perfect candidate to be the fbi director. Was it true then . If it was or wasnt, what did the fbi get on this most dangerous of rogue paths . To start before mueller . Is at the comey obama problem . What happened. It started before mueller. But then it escalated. Using any power they could because they are the good guys and they have the white hat so they can do these things. They are the true elites protecting the country. The reason i say it began before mueller is because right after he was appointed fbi director around the time of 9 11, he gets hauled in front of the fisa court this secret Chamber Court and they confront him with evidence that the fbi had for years been presenting lies to the fisa court and warrant applications to spy. And mueller promised he would fix it and Institute New rules and procedures. He actually did berkowitz called woods procedures. But the fbi continue to violate the woods procedures particularly in this particular case in the investigation of donald trump and the surveillance and spying on carter page. So it predates mueller but it continues under his leadership and then it really escalated under james comey. With my experience in the Bush Administration that is the first time james comey was considered as a real candidate. We did some checking on jim comey. Im not a lawyer but most of what we did, politically he was a chameleon. He would tell us he loved president bush and his policies but then talk to liberals and they say james comey secretly he is one of us he is pretty liberal so you got this hodgepodge story and one person who knew him well summarized him by saying the best thing about james comey as he is about james comey. I saw that early on as a us attorney in the 19 nineties and i attended a News Conference that he held about a case that he had launched. I remember my cameraman walked out with me to the van after the conference and said have you ever seen a guy who loves himself that much . I always remember that because i then saw it vividly in my research for the case and following the case writing columns. James comey i describe as a glorious sanctimonious selfrighteous individual who only cares about james comey. That was our experience. If you thing to every one of those major jobs he always turned on the person who picks him eternal president bush at the end of the administration over renewal the patriot act and 9 11 legislation. The whole Hillary Clinton thing back and forth opening the investigation and reopening right before the election completely infuriated all of the obama folks. What is he doing . And to this day he really has the social Media Presence of the aoc acolyte like he is a warrior in the communist revolution it is an amazing morph assess. It is rather nauseous when he tweets out standing by the sea in a philosophical phrase he uses or standing among the tall trees. [laughter] its actually pretty comical. Not standing behind the curtain . [laughter] james comey is a guy who lied to the president repeatedly telling him youre not being investigated. But the truth was in the documents and testimony shows he was. He lied one of the reasons truly in addition to the Hillary Clinton case that he fired him because trump knew that comey was lying to him all the time. One. Comey delivers testimony before congress and it becomes apparent to trump that he has been lying to me for the last several months which was the final straw and he fired james comey. Then told me who told the president i dont leak or do sneaky things, steals government documents, not his property, Government Property and leaks them to a friend for the purpose to leak them to the media to trigger the appointment of the special counsel who just happens to be his long time friend and colleague and mentor bob mueller. Thats how devious james comey is. And when he gets caught, he feigns memory loss. He said 149 times i dont remember in his testimony. And in interviews when confronted, he pretends he doesnt know about the dossier. Im not sure what that is. Christopher steele . I have heard that name. But those kinds of answers that makes you seriously doubt the credibility of comey. So he really ruins the reputation of the fbi. But then you have questions about policies and the power to stop trump with the russia hoax so who hires Andrew Mccabe to be the deputy . [laughter] how does the cast of characters around james comey come togethe together . Is that an entrant an internal process . Because how do all these people with left wing politics and animus to the duly elected president get into the Upper Echelon . That doesnt happen then by purpose. Comey surrounded himself with sycophants it doesnt matter their qualification so i spoke to former top fbi officials who said mccabe was not qualified to be deputy fbi director even though with politics 21st Century America but even this question to have a spouse who is so politically active in the commonwealth of virginia. You think they would say that he should have recused himself. Eventually did but it was too late at the very end. I open chapter four called the attempted coup by observing that Rod Rosenstein and Andrew Mccabe are living proof of the peter principle that people in a hierarchy tend to rise of their own level of incompetence. Thats true of both Rod Rosenstein and Andrew Mccabe. But to answer your initial question, but the people he surrounded himself with, were sycophants. They were all on the same page. Not that they are qualified to do what they are doing but people who believed in james comey and were willing to do anything, even undermined the rule of law and subvert the democratic process which is what they did. So you go forward in this process and donald trump is struggling to get the whole idea of collusion with russia behind him. Must be bedeviling to have this come forward. So tell the story of the reemergence of bob mueller from my understanding after having conversations with people who would know, some would say he was in the hunt to be Donald Trumps director fbi after comey is let go. I wrote a column recently that poses the question did mueller lie to congress when he denied he was interviewing to be fbi director again with President Trump in the oval office the very day before he become special counsel. Documents show that rosenstein appointed miller and mueller was secretly communicating he was already on board to be the special counsel. So then what was he doing in the oval office the day before he takes the job . He denied he was interviewing for fbi directorship but i interviewed the president in the oval office. I interviewed him he said absolutely thats what he was there and the personals assistant that was privy to the conversations they said yes. Multiple administration witnesses and documents demonstrate he was either terribly mistaken or not telling the truth. He denied all that but that invites the question what is he doing there . That he is already decided to take the job a special counsel why is he in the oval office . Was that a conversation under false pretenses so mueller could gather information from trump in the oval office to be used against him in the special counsel investigation . The key question is did the president explained to muellers reasons for firing comey . If the answer is yes, then mueller could not has served as special counsel is that makes it both prosecutor and witness in the same case which is strictly prohibited. So i put the question to the president when i interviewed him a couple of months ago for the book. I said did you tell mueller your reasons for firing james comey. The president paused and thought about it and he smiled and said no comment. I could tell you the answer. I know the answer. I vividly remember the conversation. And as i write in the book, it was clear to me sitting across from the president judging his reaction that the answer was yes. Is inconceivable they would not have talked about the firing of james comey just days before because trump was talking to everybody about it. So mueller should never have been special counsel. And he wasnt honest with the president. He didnt say by the way ive agreed to be a special counsel to investigate you. He wasnt forthright or honest and truthful to the president which to me is unconscionable. So the Mueller Comey rosenstein bring back mueller if we look through the parade of characters in the meantime the fbi has a black eye which i dont think any of us like to say there are an important instrument of our government is is a muchneeded agent. Are they on the path to recovery quick. No. No. Because comeys twin brother is the fbi director. Metaphorically. Christopher ray. I dont think to me, judging the actions of Christopher Ray since hes been fbi director demonstrates he doesnt care about transparency and un spooling the truth. He cares about covering up to protect the fbi. How do i know that . Because he has defied lawful subpoenas issued by congress. He fought the declassification, critical documents to expose the truth behind the witchhunt. It is a shame Christopher Ray cant be more honest and forthcoming and transparent to the american people. They need to know the truth they deserve the truth accountability in a democracy is fundamental. John brennan and clapper those are names that appear throughout the book. We of have all had to read and watch their roles in all of this. s prosecution a live wire quick. It is possible. And thats why its very significant and important that william barr launched an official department of justice investigation appointing us attorney from connecticut to headed up. He is wellversed in corruption at the fbi and cia he has put behind bars people who have engaged in lawless acts in those agencies. Inventing the lie is easy spreading the lie is easier but covering the truth is hard. And it will take time to unravel all of the lawlessness in those acts involved in the witchhunt. But i have confidence in william barr and john durham the Inspector Generals report will be very important but they are not waiting for the ig report they are moving full steam ahead we recently learned durham has expanded his investigation and added additional personnel which suggests to me likely he is already found evidence of potential crimes. What is amazing when you read the book because the amazing path the country has been on that during the obama years nothing leaked from this group the people of the Intelligence Community of enemies overseas with real information but nothing on Hillary Clinton emails. Nothing trying to stop peter struck nothing leaked it with President Trump there is a delicious leak including conversations with foreign leaders on a regular basis. Why is that allowed quick spec eight years of the brock Obama Administration the Intelligence Community and fbi were all empowered. This small group of unelected but powerful officials call it the deep state i call it a Malignant Force saw donald trump coming and he was a threat of the perpetuation of their power. Hillary clinton would have been a third term of brock obama. Their power would continue. But Donald Trump Trump vowed to drain the swamp and they are the swamp. Power in washington is like crack cocaine. Once you get on it and have it you dont want to give it up and will do anything to stop someone to take your power away from you. So that is how the russia hoax began. That is how it begat the witchhunt because these people saw donald trump as a threat to themselves and what they loved, power and the end justified any means even lawlessness. You wrote two books on this whole tragedy since 2016. But it doesnt seem to end. It keeps going. Spirit to journal every day getting ready for the next book . You better be keeping good notes. Im not inclined to write another book but the only fuel for a lie is the truth the only remedy for lawlessness is justice. I and with that and say a reckoning awaits. So we wait. I follow obviously very carefully i continue to write columns on the subject matter. We wait and see and i am as curious as the American Public to see whether or not people will be held accountable because nobody is above the law but nobody is below the law either and trump was treated as if he is below the law. He was accused of obstruction of justice constantly. Because he dared to speak out that the investigation against him was wrong and he hadnt done anything wrong. He wasnt obstructing justice he was protesting the injustice. On under the law does not obstruction. The mueller team thought just criticizing them in their investigation was obstruction of justice. Is one of the lawyers as i recount said they acted like crybabies that no one not even the president can exercise their First Amendment right to say what you are doing is wrong this is a witchhunt. It was. But now we know. In the minutes we have left tell us about your career and your path to chronicle these Amazing Stories from your two books. How did you get to this point quick. I was a lawyer and defense attorney many years ago accidentally fell into tv and i did local news. How quick. A buddy of mine was auditioning and i tagged along and i ended up auditioning. He still my friend. [laughter] he had a wonderful career doing other things. I did both for many years and it became too much i was single i didnt have a mortgage and a set i will take a sabbatical from the law firm in San Francisco and after a couple of years the firm said you are still on the letterhead will do sabbatical lever and . [laughter] i did local news i did court tv for several years i was at msnbc and anchor a fox news for 15 years but i started writing columns. Those took off so i asked fox i would like to give up anchor because its a conflict of interest. So the columns led to the two books. I met my wife in wichita. Anchored the news. She wasnt born and raised there she was from dallas texas but we met in wichita we were both living there. I liked wichita i had a great time there. The people are so nice. And i fondly regard wichita and have been back several times and always enjoy visiting. My mother was just here from wichita brothers and sisters come out. As we bring this to a conclusion, obviously your experience out there in the country with the different media jobs . When you live with the people of kansas and North Carolina as i did the people in maryland i anchor the news there as well, you really get a feel for the honesty of america and what people care about. You become a part of them. Thats one of the great things about being a correspondent for several years. I went to just about every state park i have not been to alaska.
