[applause] thank you very much. [speaking french] translator mr. President , madam first lady, ladies and gentlemen, following this g7 meeting that we just held, and weve been discussing for two days now, im going to first thank President Trump and all the heads of state and governments present here for the extremely Productive Work and the very productive discussions weve had since saturday evening together. There was a lot of at the outset, a lot of expectations, a lot of tension. We have had a lot of conflict and i can say that what we were really keen on was convey positive and joint message following our discussion. Discussions on several topics. We havent negotiated a very long text as promised and you will get just a one pager declaration but there will be a lot of different annexes to it but its one page, a one page the covers some other key items that were addressed. Now, we have decided to hold this joint conference. Im going to give the floor to President Trump and hope President Trump and firstly well proceed with her own press conference to the american press, so other discussion will take place but it just want to sum up with the different items on which we have agreed and the topics of which we have made headway, biodiversity, Digital Economy amongst others. We wanted to all this joint conference together because next year to it is the United States of america that will host the g7 summit, and were going to pass the baton onto President Trump and so thats what were together. I didnt want to say for the last two days we worked a lot together on several common points. We have a lot of things in common but one thing we have in common with President Trump is a dont like to waste our time and we like to achieve concrete results and provide momentum. As soon as President Trump arrived with the 121 lunch we had together, i think it was productive and interesting conversations that we had together. And from that point onward, we set the pace and kept the ball rolling to be as sufficient up to the very end. Theres a few things that expected from her country to ask for his iran is concerned, President Trump and myself have had discussions in the last few weeks and in the last couple of days. We agreed that iran needs to comply with its Nuclear Obligations and have responsible behavior in the gulf and work with us. And there are two macri clears things on the iran should never have Nuclear Weapons, and it should not threaten the stability of the region. France has taken a lot of different initiatives and ive always informed President Trump on them to be able to get the things to move forward. We made the decision the u. S. Taken in the last a lot of pressure and put the situation where it is indeed necessary to improve the security situation of the region. We coordinate our efforts and we reached the decision to bring together the Foreign Ministers of iran, meeting with the foreign minister and roadmap has sort of been set, but nothing is absolute set in stone. And well have to move ahead together to find an outcome. This morning president rouhani said that he was prepared to meet any political leader in the interest of this country. And thats what i told minutes of zarif, this is why mentioned to president rouhani on the phone as well, if he agreed to a meeting with President Trump, my conviction was an agreement can be met. We know the terms, we know the objectives but we have two now sit around the table and make that happen. I hope in the next few weeks will be able to achieve them. The meeting just mentioned between president rouhani and President Trump and myself Nuclear Negotiations will also be fully involved in these negotiations. I think that this meeting is very important, and it will the last few days have clarified the situation to a lot of work has been done between our ministers. I would like to thank our ministers whom have been totally involved in these discussions and upset the stage for these discussions and for an agreement. Of course i want to be very cautious and very modest, what i think that this is going to lead to putting an end to escalation and reaching a solution. The discussions we had on saturday afternoon and saturday dinner have been very fruitful, and our presence is to ensure the stability of the region. The idea is to ensure iran doesnt get the Nuclear Weapons and have more [inaudible] as firstrate is concerned with also shared a lot of analysis and a lot of observations. Later on ill go into the heels of that but i think we can say our discussions have clarified what is legitimate and what the United States feels as an unfair situation. We have International Rules that govern International Trade, and in this one page document we said this is very good to have a single organization. But so far the body has not been very efficient in raising trade barriers that it is not been sufficient enough and solving problems and not sufficient enough in protecting the intellectual property of our industries. Discussions are underway currently, in particular between President Trump and president xi, and we have seen even in just the recent, very recent part of that agreement can be reached. So we want to reaffirm our desire to change the rules that govern International Trade, and to revamp them so that no one is dealt with unfairly. Thats our work is protected and the situation of the past is put to an end. This is something we need to work on together. Now, theres a lot of nervousness because of misunderstanding because some very powerful economic [inaudible] said what about this digital tax that france has imposed . Well, weve reached a very good agreement, and once again the solid work that is been done by the Prime Ministers has really helped us to make progress. In our economies we have a very unfair situation where some players dont pay taxes. So theres unfair competition with other players and there is a a large multinational players who dont pay taxes which lays a significant instability in economic front. It is not fair. Of course were pushing for International Rules on this even, and at the european level, that can cut you can france, italy, even the uk is getting ready to do so, it has descended to do something at the national level. But it is not against any company in particular. Its just to solve the problem. In fact, a lot of French Companies will be impacted by this tax, and some of you have probably heard me say a few months ago that this is only to find a solution, to find an agreement internationally by 2020. So combat harmful trade practices which are also harmful to use economy. And to this digital tax or other digital tax, they werent a lot of bilaterally as well and have reached an agreement to overcome this. So theyre going to work on a bilateral and multilateral basis to find a solution together. Todays International Tax exists on digital services, rants will do away with its national tax system. And everything that is already been paid under the french tax system will be reimbursed. So the idea is that we need to find showing agreement in order to address joint international problems, and the situation is very negative and the International Tax system definitely need needs to be modernized and i think we Work Together in cooperation on this. As to libya, syria, north korea, hong kong, using the one page document that weve made considerable headway in the spirit of unity, and also reached come dealt some significant work as far as the Amazon Region is concerned. There has been relationships and we have taken a very Ambitious Initiative that the president gave this morning. All heads of state in the region at we had reached and President Trump visioned as well. I dont want a good few details are do want to highlight these things that i just mentioned. I just want to say that we Work Together handinhand with President Trump over these two days, and during the g7 and i like to thank all my colleagues in fact, for this, weve managed to reach convergence at unprecedented level on several issues. Were going to continue this work in the weeks and months to follow with a lot of energy and north korea knows how strongly President Trump is committed to this issue. Theres also the agreement of chiding and were going to work hand in hand in all the different issues. I would like to thank you President Trump for your involvement the last couple of days. I would like to thank your first lady who is by your side and who is in very active, sidebyside with my own spouse, and she has honored us in our country. She knows how popular she is in our country, and President Trump will be hosting the g7 summit lectures i will give him the floor so that he can tell us how you intend the g7 and i will be there by your side with the same will and the same determination and the same desire for unity. Thank you. [applause] i want to thank you very much, and to think more important than want to come up here to say that because the job that does it macron, and your wife, by the way, who is a great lady, would like to thank bridgette. Shes been spectacular, spent a tremendous amount of time with melania and some of the folks who came in, some of the wise they came in and had a great tour of the area and its a beautiful area. I want to thank you very much, mr. President , for the incredible job you did. This is a truly successful g7. There was tremendous you become great unity sometimes i would read a little bit of false reporting but but i will take t was, in fact, we were and we would of stayed for another hour. Hour. Nobody wanted to leave. We were a compassing a lot but i think more and were getting along very well come seven countries or anybody was the g7 and you have been spectacular leader on this. And i want to thank you i do want to thank a great country of france. Thank you very much. [applause] with that, i think, excuse me. Go ahead. No, i just want to say to my questions from each side. Afterwards i will say goodbye to my friend President Trump. I will leave the ring in order for you to follow. If you like we could do to make each end of it can both liebert would you prefer that . I just dont want to have the president of france stand here one answering these absolutely wonderful questions, okay . So why dont we start with a question for france . Four questions about g7 and u. S. Franco relations. And the manual can have us all press conference after this, so that will be fine. Go ahead. Exactly. To france, yes. President macron, china was not on the official agenda but it was certainly a big part of discussions here at the g7. Our you concerned that the trade would that exists now between the United States and china could harm the Global Economy . If you are, did you talk to President Trump about that . And are you also at the same time concern that if chinas current trade practices go unchecked that advocate for now we could be in a very terrible situation . [speaking french] translator with lengthy discussions during the session the World Economy yesterday morning. On both subjects. The discussions underway between china and the United States of america, obviously as we clearly see creates uncertainty, which disturbed marcus and investors. Entering the negotiations will create tensions which is a a ce of any discussion. We saw this on different stock markets with which you are familiar. Now the question is to know what the results of these discussions will be, and thats why we consider it was so important and agreement be found between the two greatest economic powers in the world. President trump clearly showed us his willingness to arrive at an agreement. We saw just a few hours ago the very positive and encouraging message that could be distilled from this. We see that things are moving. Our deep wish is for an agreement to be found that in the United States and china concerning trade. Because i think that would be something positive for everyone. Neither the United States nor china is economically or industrial naive. It has to be a balanced agreement that would be good for everyone. And we will be vision to see that its good for the whole world. In that context, our different parameters will be taken on board and that was one of the subjects of our discussions. Was bad for the World Economy is uncertainty and the quicker an agreement is arrived at, the quicker that on uncertainty will dissipate. Thats what we discussed yesterday and thats the american president s wish. In terms of trade practices, i said this earlier. For me, the most effective way forward and the most strategically forward in selling our trade relations with china is to develop trade, but also to ensure that that trade is part of International Trade rules. The problems we sometimes have were very smooth with the chinese become economy is a ma, whether spent a lot of investment from the United States, european countries, canada and japan. The problem is respecting intellectual property, either with excess capacity, which sometimes unbalances some world markets, and the ability to deal rapidly with conflicts we may have and with unfair situations. What we are obliged to see is that when this type of parade happens outside of wto rules, things do not work very well and were not properly protected. Anyone who follows the bpl rules, the rules of the present exist have allowed us to be protected on the subject. What we defend together yesterday morning was to accelerate with a very realistic agenda and to say were going to change the rules of world trade. So everyone can have free and fair trade, balustrade and the subject i just mentioned which have sometimes been bad for our economies can be settled an International Framework which we wish profoundly to change. And we and our different ministers of the german context with putting together a going to share these political goals. It might way of thinking, the way to deal with the practices you mentioned, certainly positive agreements will be arrived at and also the renewed of International Trade rules as we said yesterday morning. President trump, are you satisfied with how far the proposed wto reforms will go . No, im not. And second to that, speedy were getting there, jim, just to add to that. Getting there. Do you believe china is sincere about what it is said this morning, or do you think that just trying to calm the markets and play for time . Because our Sister Network has been told by chinese sources that they have no plans on going back to where they were in terms of negotiations this spring on in a lot of property, ownership. So can you trust that they are sincere. As i do. I think they want to make a deal very badly. I think that was elevated last night very late in the night. I see an alert, you would call breaking news, and it was that the vice chairman, were not talked to somebody from china at a low level, vice chairman of china came out that he wants to see a deal made. He wanted to be made under calm conditions, using the word calm. I agree with him on that. And china has taken a very hard hit over the last number of months, and i think lost 3 million jobs. It will soon be much more than 3 million jobs. Their chain is breaking. Their chain is breaking up like nobody has seen before, once that happens its very hard to put it back together. I think the what very much make a deal at the longer they wait, the harder it is to put it back. If they can be put back at all. So i believed in what to do a deal. The terrorist have it in very hard and a fairly short period of time the United States would have collected over 100 million in tennis, and say it again, reporters fail, the media fail to acknowledge it, but if you look at the goods coming in from china, we talk about china, not of the country. If a look at the goods, they have power that others dont have but that power is only good for so long. They manipulated their currency. They have devalued their currency and put a lot of cash into the system. And because of that the prices have not got up or if theyve gone up its been very little to guess they want to keep people working. If the prices go up they are not going to be able to keep people working. They cannot compete. Its a brilliant marketer is a brilliant, brilliant market, the worlds market. A lot of markets are brilliant. And frank ethnic china cannot, i dont know, maybe they can come maybe they cant. I dont think they can do that. And i think that a very smart and a think president xi is a great leader who happened to be a brilliant man, and he cant lose 3 million jobs in a very short period of time and thats going to be magnified many times over. And its going to break down the chinese system of trade, and he cant do that. So when you say do you think they want to, maybe you want to maybe they dont but i think want to make a deal. Im not should have a choice. And i dont say that as a threat. I dont think have a a choice. In the meantime the United States wishes, tenseness in china will and a fairly short period of time will be over 100 billion in tariffs. So i think they want to make a deal. Very badly. Go ahead. [speaking french] translator mr. President , you just declared you created the conditions for a meeting between President Trump and present rouhani. Does that mean that france, for instance, might be a mediator in that meeting . And more concretely, what did you discuss in terms of that possible agreement with iran . Then the question for mr. Trump. Are you ready to lift or to soften american sanctions on Iranian Oil Exports . And would you be ready to meet present rouhani . Thank you. [speaking french] translator on the first question, the terms of the discussion are quite simple. An agreement was signed 2015. On july 14th. We, the jcpoa. And that agreement set forth guarantees for the international community, including the signatories of that agreement, saying iran would no longer enriched uranium over a certain period of time. Im simply find this, but in exchange for reopening many economic sectors and massive investment, largely made by the United States. That agreement had a twofold advantage. Stability and security, and also reopening economic sector which was good for iran. The agreement also had drawbacks and shortcomings, fresh negrete is negotiator in 2015 with the most determined and france was the country to hesitate in most to sign this agreement is entered because we can sit we need as most counties as possible. President trump made a commitment, those who voted for him, to be more demanding tougher because he considered this agreement was insufficient which caused him to leave it. Today, because of the sanctions made by President Trump, the iranian economy is having serious consequences and a serious slowdown. That situation very clearly is the aspect, i said the Positive Side of things, from one standpoint its crating pressure and, therefore, the necessary conditions to improve the terms of an agreement. On the other hand, its leading to iraq in an event as far as this agreement, but those outside it are not respecting its terms and were starting to symbolically to enrich iranian and the risk will go further still elevated jcpoa. So given the goals that we have, where are we going with this . We need to be sure iran will never get a Nuclear Weapon and that there will be no flareups in the region so what we discussed very concretely was to see how we could improve very considerably are really in fact, built a new Nuclear Agreement with iran. President trump was very clear saying that we would need an much longer time frame for it, that the need to be surveillance of many more sites and this is how we can build an much for the reaching agreement in terms of our security demands. And on the other hand, we need to convince the iranians to go in that direction, and we can do that if we give them economic compensation of some form. If we make some movement in terms of lines of credit or reopening certain economic sectors. I cant tell you today publicly more about this because, i will tell you anything i tell you in detail what jeopardize the conversations were going to have but this is basically what were discussing. Theres also a japanese initiative. Im talking transparency with the president but we agreed on a strategical and a one is to go further in this framework to make proposals. At a given point in time it will have to be meeting between the american and their many president s, and i would wish in the coming weeks such a meeting take place. France will play a role together with the other signatories who are partners in the g7. But after that we will create the necessary condition because will have the necessary visibility for this agreement to be signed, for this meeting with the president s to take place. I would rather talk about certain initiatives and exchanges rather than mediation because at the end the day we have constant exchanges with President Trump sometimes we dont agree on methods but it what to get there. I want to have i think theres been a true change. This morning president rouhani showed itself the open to the beat happening, and President Trump has been saying for weeks hes dominican tough putting forth such about a devon beating to make a deal. I think were making progress. The ridiculous deal where they were given 150 billion plus 1. 8 billion in cash. And they use that money for some bad purposes. That being said, i think iran is a country of tremendous potential. Were not looking for leadership change. Were not looking for that kind of change. This country has been through that many times before, that doesnt work. Theyre looking for no Nuclear Weapons, no Ballistic Missiles and a longer period of time, very simple and have it done in a short period of time and i believe that iran can be a great nation. Id like to see that happen but they cant have Nuclear Weapons. [inaudible] if the circumstances were correct, i would certainly agree to that but in the meantime, they have to be good players. You understand what thatmeans. And they cant do what they were saying theyre going to do because if they do that theyre going to meet with violent force, we have no choice. So i think theyre going to be good, i think they like to and by the way, president macron told me every step that he was making, told me before he came in. I didnt think it was appropriate to meet yesterday, too soon and inks have to be worked out first but president macron told me what was happening, who was coming, what time there were coming, what time they were going to meet and after the meeting he told me exactly what happenedand i think he had a very positive meeting. The Prime Minister of japan, large purchaser of oil from iran, he was also very much involved and he knows everybody there so he was a very positive force but i have to tell you, the president s done an excellent job and were going to see how it all turns out. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesnt. I say it all the time, maybe it works and maybe it doesnt but we made a ridiculous deal. We give them 1. 8 billion and we got nothing and by the way, agreement was so shortterm that it expires in a short period of time when the country, you dont feel that short. Countries last for a long time and you dont do shortterm deals, especially when youre paying that kind of money so i have good feelings about it ran. I have good feelings and it will work. I know many iranians living in newyork city, many friends from iran, their incredible people. So the last thing id like to see is a big problem, but we have to do what we have to do. Go ahead please. No, you first. Go ahead, yes. President macron, did you see President Trumps position before you invited foreign minister sorry or did you inform him he was coming . Lets be very clear, and we are part of the g cpa, we decided to remain. So we are very much interested by the situation, of a sovereign country. Thats why we want different parties to move. On his side President Trump made it clear over the summer, we never spoke on behalf of ofother countries. We just tested some solutions to see if we can find an agreement. So we took an initiative this summer to make a proposal, a technical one. I got iran from Prime Minister zarifs visit and on friday morning, after the discussion we had at the g7 dinner onsaturday evening , i thought that was very clear where we could go together. So the day after, i decided to invite a friend, minister zarif so i informed President Trump that it was my idea. Not toinvolve the United States , not to say this on behalf of you, but to say stay as friends, i think it would be a good idea to ask him to go back and try to negotiate somethings. So i did it on my own. I informed him before making it, President Trump was informed each minute about thesituation. And the idea for me was in case of social moves and important moves and appropriate solutions, perhaps to have meetings with different ministers, not President Trumps level because President Trumps level is current so this is a French Initiative thats made by a clear information of the us president s before. Information as well of the europeans and each time i informed President Trump in order to resolve the situation and appreciate together. I have to say that jc poa was a bad deal. Could not have been entered into a lot of things that havehappened would have been much different. Theyre allowed to test illicit missiles, youre not allowed to go to various sites to check area and some of those sites, the most obvious site for the creation of the making ofNuclear Weapons. And those things have to be changed and other things have to be changed. And i will tell you, i have very good feelings about it. I think were going to do something and it may not be immediately but i think ultimately were going to do something. As i said, iran is a much different country and it was a half years ago. And we can get that back and id encourage it. I have friends years ago, many years ago they were in the real estate business and they were in iran and they were building houses and building housing and Building Office buildings and apartment houses and they did very well. They made a lot of money and to this day theyre not exactly the youngest developers anymore but they were young when they went over there, they made a lot of money and they loved the people andlove what was going on. And its a country with tremendous potential area i also say that by the way with respect to north korea. Kim jong, who ive gotten to know extremely well, the first lady has gotten to know and i think she agree with me. He is a man with a country that has tremendous potential. Were in between china, russia and south korea. People want to get south korea, theyve got to get there somehow and if theyre going to do anything other than essentially lie, they want to go through so railroads and everything else, so many things what happened there. I thinkthat north korea has tremendous economic potential. And i think that kim jongil sees that, he would be the leader and i think he sees the tremendous potential. And its not. With respect to iran, same thing. Iran is incredible people , and incredible country potentially, location thats a little rough neighborhood but eventually its going to be a beautiful neighborhood. I think its going to work out. And i really believe those countries that went into the original deal, that more and more are agreeing with what i did. But i think those countries are going to be saying thank you day, i hope theyre going to be saying including france, including the president but i think we did the right thing, i know we get the right thing. If for no other reason, its just too short. Almost expiring, you think about it. Somebody said no go and make an extension. There are great negotiators. But what they did to get the deal. But what they did to john kerry and to president obama. Look what happened where their bringing playing loads of cash, big planes, 757s, boeing 757 coming in loaded up with cash. What kind of deal is that . I think a lot of good things are going to happen and i just want to say this because ive spoken a lot with the president this last 2 and a half days, weve never hada better relationship. We had a lunch that lasted for quite a while that many of you got to see it was the two of us, no staff, no anything. He wasnt trying to impress his people, i wasnt trying to impress his people. We were trying to impress each other and ill tell you what, it was the best period of time weve ever had and we accomplished a lot. I dont mean geewhiz, wasnt that nice. Hes a very capable man, hes a great job in france, he did an incredible job or the g7 and i want thank you. And you go ahead your News Conference and its very special. This was a very special, very unified 2 and a half days and i wantto thank you for it, thank you. Thank you. [applause] thank you, i will leave the floor to President Trump and i will wait for the end of your own pressconference. [speaking french] i dont want to give anything away we saw your wife, the first lady drink a glass of french wine so you can you perhaps give up on your threat to put sanctions on french wine because if we understood correctly, you have arrivedat an agreement on taxing digital firms. Could you confirm that there has been an agreement to you and friends on taxing digital. I can confirm that the first lady love your french wine, okay . She loved your french wine so thank you very much, thats fine. Thank you. I will wait for the end of this press conference. I will leave the floor. Thank you. Thank you, good job. I cant believe it. Jonathan. Come on out. Can ask a question directly on china. You agreed that china wants to make a deal but on that deal. Will start now, please sit down. Please it down. Thank you very much. You recently been saying china want to deal but youre not necessarily ready for a deal. And you like. Revenue thatis coming up, are you now ready to make a deal. And mark. Only good deal for the United States, otherwise it will not make a deal. We have billions coming in. And i think were going to get there. I believe morestrongly now than i would have believed it a while ago. Were going to get there and were going to have a really , were going to have a fair deal but remember this, when you say fair, chinas been taking out of this country 500 billion dollars a yearfor many years. Many, manyyears. Its time to stop. As a private person i used to talk about it, its one of the reasons im president and were in a great position, our country is doing well Area Unemployment numbers are the largest event in over 50 years area our unemployment numbers for africanamericans , asians, for hispanic are the best day ever been historic numbers. But were in a very strong position. Our consumers are strong, worldmark announced numbers that were mindboggling numbers. Grateful right there and the ultimate goal. How are the retailers doing and how Certain Companies are doing. So were doing very well and i think that were going to make a deal with china and i think we will probably eventuallymake a deal with iran to. Is not a question of behavior, i think they want to make a deal and they should make a deal and if they dont make a deal, its going to be very bad for china. And i very much appreciate the fact that they came out last night late last night and they said they want to make a deal, they wanted to the other called circumstances, it was a little different kind of a statement area and i thought it was a beautiful statement. I indicated a lot but here we go. I have a question for you on next years g7 summit but cannot clarify something you said. One question. Let me get a clarification andget to the question. You talk about holes with china, i want to understand what you referred to on china and on next years g7 you got several hints about miami, about doral posting g7 on your property and what reassurances can you give the American People you are not looking to profitoff the presidency . I sent i think i will, nation of loss and opportunity. Probably it will cost me anywhere from three to 5 billion the president. And the only thing i care about is this country, couldnt care less, otherwise people have asked me what you think it costs in between opportunity not doing things, i used to get a lot of money to make beaches, and i get speeches all the time, you know what i get, sit and thats good. Idid a lot of great deals , i dont want to because the deals im making our great deals for thecountry and thats much more importance. Doral happens to be within miami. Its a city, its a wonderful place. Its very successful areaof florida. Its very importantly only five minutesfrom the airport, the airport is right next door. Its a Big International airport, everybody thats coming , all the people with all their entourages , its set up so by the way, my people wouldget well sites , all good but some were two hours from the airport, some or hours, they were so far away. Some didnt allow thisor they didnt allow that. With doral , we have a series of magnificence buildings. We call them bungalows. Behold from 50 to 70 very luxurious rooms with magnificent views. We have incredible conference rooms, incredible restaurants. We wouldnt even have to do the work they did here and theyve done a beautiful job, theyve really done a beautiful job and what we have also is miami. We have many hundreds of acres so that in terms of parking and in terms of all the things that you need, the ballrooms are among the biggest in florida and the best. Its brandnew. And my people wanted it. From my standpoint im not going to make any money. In my opinion im not going tomake any money. I dont care about making money. If i worried about making money i wouldnt worry about 35 billion area at some point im going to detail that and they will show but i think its just a great place to be. Having it in miami is fantastic. Really fantastic. Having it at that particular place because of the way its set up, each country and have their own villa or their own envelope and the bungalows when i say they have a lot of unison so it works out well. And when my people came back they took tours, they went to different places, youll have a good theyre going to give a presentationsoon , they went places all over the country and they came back and said there this is where we want to be. We had military people, secret service people, people that understand what its about. Its about getting the right location and i think its important. Jonathan. Go ahead jonathan. Thank you mister president. President macron said hed like to see talks between you and the president rouhani in weeks. Could you see talks with yourself and the iranians mark. I dont know the gentlemen, i know him a little bit over watching the past few years what happened. If one thing he is a great negotiator but i think hes going to want to meet. I think iran wants to get their situation straightened out. Is that based on fact forgot . Thats based on. But they want to get their situation straightened out jonathan and theyre hurting badly. There inflation as you know because you reported on it, there inflation is through the roof. Their economy has tanked entirely. Their sanctions are absolutely hurting them horribly. I dont want to see that. I dont want to see that, theyre great people. But we cant let them have a Nuclear Weapon. Cant let it happen so i think theres a good chance that we will be just as. Another followup from what the president of said, he said he might be a need for compensation to iran. Would you give, given all the criticism you made of the transport be open to giving iran compensation western mark. Know, when hes talking about in terms of compensation is they are out of money and they need a shortterm letter of credit or loan. Were not paying, we dontpay but they may need some money to get them over a very rough patch and if they do need money , it would be secured by oil to me is Great Security and they have a lot of oil but its secured by oil so were talking about a letter of credit type facility. From the us . It would be from numerous countries and it would expire, it would be paid back immediately and very quickly. Go ahead. Thank you very much mister president. Alex with the london newspaper. Just left. Your Prime Minister. Good man, great man. The us and japan has an agreement in principle which is a tremendous trade deal forthe United States. And for japan. Are you still considering importing section 232 tariffs on japans exports to the United States on National Security grounds . Not at this moment. Thats one of the reasons we made this deal but not at this moment. Its something i could do at a later date but were not looking at that, we just want to be treated fairly. Japan has had a great surplus for many years long before i came and ill tell you something, where transforming our country. Were taking the horrible onesided foolish, very dumb, stupid if youd like to use that word since its so descriptive, were taking these trade deals that are so bad and were making good, solid incentive and thats transforming our country. That will be transformative and very exciting i think for our country, very exciting. These go ahead. Thank you mister president. I didnt say yes, woman behind you but lets do her first, youve beenasking a lot of questions all day long. In the shop and. Dont say i dont give you access. Thank you mister president , pbs news hour. Why do you think its appropriate to invite russia to the g7 and theyve meddled in the 2016 election and are you worried if russia does come to the g7 might hurt you politically because its only going to be a couple of months before the election. I dont care politically, a lot of people dont understand that. I ran one election and i won, happened need for president. I dont care politically. Im going to run for election, i think im winning based on polls, whether i win or not i have to do the right thing i dont do things for political reasons. Is it good . Probably not. A lot of people say having russia which is a power, having them inside the room is better than having them outside the room. By the way, there were numerous people during theg7 that felt that way and we didnt take a vote or anything but we did discuss it. My inclination is to say yes, they should be in. Really it was president obama, im not blaming him but a lot of bad things happened with president putin and president obama. One of the things that happened was as you know what happened with a very big area, a very big and important area in the middle east where the red line was drawn and then president obama decided that he was not going to do anything about it. You cant draw red lines in the sand, you just cant do it and the other was in ukraine having to do with a certain section of the ukraine that you know very well where it was sort of taken away from president obama, not taken away from President Trump, taken away from president obama. President obama was not happy this happened becauseit was embarrassing to him. Very embarrassing to him and he wanted russia to be out of what was called the g8. And that was his determination. He was outsmarted by putin. It was outsmarted, president putin outsmarted president obama. And i can understand how president obama would feel, he wasnt happy and theyre not in it for that reason. Im only thinking about the world and im thinking about this country in terms of the g7 whether its g7, g8. I think it would be better to have russia inside the tent and outside the tent. Do we live by the way, is it politically popular for me to say that . Possibly not, i think a lot of people would agree with me but possibly not. I do nothing for politics. Youre going to smile at that, i do nothing for politics. I do whats right and people like what i do but i just do whats right. If i want to go strictly by politics i probably pull that and possibly id say oh gee, i dont want russia in but i really think its good for security of the world, its good for the economics of the world. Theyre building a pipeline in europe up in germany and i said to angela who ive had a great relationship with, you pay russia aliens of dollars and then we defend you. From russia and i say how doesthat work for mark. You say russia outsmarted president obama, countries the reason why russia was kicked out because they annexed crimea. Why are you repeating what some people would say as a clear line . I know you like president obama but it was annexed during president obama term. It would if it was annexed during my term i think i made a mistake or sorry folks president obama was ukraine. Crimea was annexed during his term. Now, its a very big area, very important area. Russia has its own marine, thats where they do their submarine work and thats where they got large and powerful summary but not as powerful as ours, not as large as ours they have their submarines and president obama was pure and simply outsmarted. They took crimea during his term. That was not a good thing. It could have been stopped with the right, whatever. It could have been stopped but president obama was unable to stop it and its too bad. [inaudible] as the g7 host last year you are allowed to invite otherguest countries even though theyre not necessarily part of the overall group, would you consider inviting latin american . I dont know that he accept it, those are tough circumstances. He was part of g8 and all of a sudden hes not in riyadh so i think on, that they felt paper him. Hes a proudperson. When i invite him . I would certainly invite him. Whether he could, psychologically, thats a tough thing for him to do. You have a g8 commonality g7 and you invite the person that was thrown out really five president obama and really because he got outsmarted, president obama pure and simple and dont forget it was not just crimea, it was the red line in the sand and obama said never violate the red line in the sand and then they went ahead and they killed many children with gas. It was terrible and he did nothing about it. I did and i was there years later. I did something about it buti was there late. Go ahead. Can you help us understand the timeline from the china calls, were you referring to a statement weve had many calls, secretary mnuchin is here and youve certainly had many calls overthe last 48 hours, not just one. And these are highlevel calls area and want to make a deal and by the way i think neilis going to be made but they want to make a deal. But china is saying there werent any. The chinese are not saying that. Let me explain something. The vice chairman of china, you get higher than that other than president xi. The vice chairman madethe statement he wants to make a deal , that you want to see, he wants it all to happen. That said there, i dont have to talk about. You folks were reporting before we can find any phone call. He released a statement. I didnt release it, he released a statement. But there were phone calls mister president. Numerous calls. And not only with seniors, there were calls with other people too. Just so youunderstand, china wants to make a deal. Whether or not we make a deal its got to be a great deal for us. I told us to president xi who i respect, i have Great Respect and i like him too, hes a tough guy but i have a lot of feeling for president xi, very upstanding in so manyways that i told him i said , your starting up here and youre making 500 billion a year and stealing our intellectual property. We are down on the floor, lower than the floor. You got to make a 5050 deal. This has to be a deal thatsbetter for us. And if not better, lets not do business together area i dont want todo business. Forget about tariffs, were taking in tremendous amounts of money but i dont want to dobusiness. What i raise and he raises, we can never catchup. We have to balance our trading relationship at least to an extent. They were unwilling to do that and will never have a deal if that happens but its going to happen because they have to have a deal. And asfar as phone calls or concern , secretary of the treasury and other people have been receiving many calls, not receiving, backandforth, many calls. China want tomake a deal and if we can, we will make a deal. Go ahead. If i can ask you about your china strategy, president macron talk about instability and the worry around the globe. One of the things that comes from as you said. Youre talking about Global Economic instability mark. One of the things it comes from is the backandforth and the changing of statements from yourself. Sorry. Its the way i negotiate. My question is is that strategy . Its a strategy that calls resident xi an enemy one day. Its gone back and forth. Its the way i negotiate and its done well for me over the years and its even better for the country and i do think that look, heres the story. I have people say just make a deal. They dont have the guts and they dont have the wisdom to know that you cant continue to go on where a country is taking 500 billion. Not million, 500billion. Every single year, 500 billion dollars. You just cant do that. Somebody had to do this. It should have been done by president obama. It should have been done right sleepy joe, it should have been done by other people, should have been done by bush, should have been done within. It should have been done. Im doing it. Let me tell you something else, north korea could have been done a long time ago. Im doing it. Im doing alot of things i shouldnt have to be doing. Please. Go ahead, please. President trump, youve met our new Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday. You said he was the right man for the job on brexit. Do you think theresa may was the wrong woman and you think that Boris Johnson and get the deal with the eu for october 31 mark. Teresa, she was unable to do the deal. I gave her my ideas early on and you possibly know what they are and i would have done that. He chose to do it her way and that didnt work out so well. I think shes a very, very good person and a good woman and i really believe that Boris Johnson will be a great Prime Minister. We like each other and we had a great 2 and a half days. Ive been waiting for him to the Prime Minister for about six years. I told him what took you so long . I think hes going to be a great Prime Minister and after spending intense time with him over the last couple of days, terry smart and hes very strong and hes very enthusiastic and you know what else, he loves your country. He really loves your country. Please. Bbc news, President Trump, Boris Johnson is keen on a trade deal with the usa, you sound keen on it as well. What do you say to critics who say youre going to do over the uk mark. I own great property in the uk, i love the uk, i have no idea how my property doing because i dont care but i own in aberdeen and in ireland as you know, and bag and a great stuff. And ill be honest with you, i think that hes going to just do a great job as Prime Minister. It takes a lot. Its so many different elements to being a great Prime Minister and you needed him. I just think his time is right, this is the right time for boris. Go ahead area single year with please. Itv in the uk as well. Youve obviously had a good few days with president macron or you appear to be doing business with. After brexit, who do you think will be your more important relationship, president macron and the eu or borisjohnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom . I think were going to have friends is a great nation. Its being run, a lot of things are happening. Its not easy what hes doing. He changing certain ways and its a hard thing to do. Im going to let him tell his ideas but a lot of people dont disagree with his ideas but its a very hard thing to do if youre a great citizen of france, you love your country but you want to do what youve been doing it for a long time area maybe thats not working and maybe they have to do what he has to do. I think hes going to do a fantastic job but its tough for him, i know how tough it is for him, hes been having a hard time and nobody would have an easy time that i believe hes doing the right thing. Boris is different, its a different kind of deal. Boris have to try to do something with brexit. Ideal with the eu, the eu is a very strong group of people. They have their ideas and theyre not easy to do with, i will tell you. Where close to making a deal with the eu, we made a great deal with japan and we are very close to maybe making a deal with the eu because they dont want tariffs, its very simple. They want bmw, we dont need a 20 percent or a 25 percent tax but where close. I think were going to make a deal with the eu, weve been losing hundred 80 billion a year for manyyears, thats a lot of money. Anything out of the piggybank . But which alliance will be more important, with the eu or with britain. I dont want to say which. I think that we have been with i guess it would set up i think england, i asked boris wheres england, whats happening with england, they dont use it too much anymore. It was interesting but the United Kingdom is agreat , incredible place. Its an incredible nation and its been one of our tremendous allies and another onehappens to be australia, he was here also , scott really he is fantastic and in fact were honoring him in australia the white house in a short time. But i think that excuse me . At some point i will. Atsome point i will, also germany. Angela, theyre going to be doing that too. So i just think theyre very different and theyre going to be going at it a little while but ultimately, probably it worksout. They may have to getout, they may not make a deal. The European Union istough to make deals with. Very, very tough. Just ask theresa may. I was hoping you can clarify, last year you left the summit in canada doing with thesummit host. This year things seem to be different. Youre talking about unity with macron and the states. What is different and asked macron said hes passing the baton of leading this institution, you ran on the platform of america first, now you have a mandate for the national community, what are you going to do with it to mark. We had a good meeting, i headed out with one of two people where we disagreed in terms of concepts but we had a meeting lastyear. I would say this was a big step above in terms of unity, in terms of the agreements. We have really great agreement on a lot of very important subjects but last year was good also. Last year was good also. Last year might have been a little bit underrated. In terms of what you want to do with it . Were going to do something openly special, build on what we have now. We felt on something good. Going to be going in with great unity. If there was any word for this particular meeting of seven very importantcountries it was unity. Most important of all, we got along great. Go ahead. Thank you very much mister president. You just mentioned that chinese vice premier league will say china is willing to resolve this issue through called negotiation. I didnt say it, he did. Where will the us negotiate . And also, the other question. Was an easy answer. The us will negotiate in the same manner. Absolutely, Great Respect for china, Great Respect for the leadership of china. Absolutely. The other question is you say definitely will invite you to join next years summit. I havent said that but i think that having president in what was the ga, a member of the ga and i heard he was a good member of the ga, having him in his more of an advantage. I think its a positive for the world, i think its a positive for russia and a big positive for russia. Andits something the group is discussing. They are discussing. People feelvery much like you, many people. But the Russian Foreign minister is saying that not there foreignpolicy pursuit to return ga, whats your reaction to mark. We will see, i know one thing. If they were invited back i think they be there. If they were, thats okaytoo. I just think a be better inside thanoutside. As i said before, i think maybe an asset. Some of the things we were going in the room and yesterday in particular we were discussing four or five matters and russia was literally involved in all those five matters and a few of the people looked up and said why they youre talking to us about it or what we going to do now, go home to mark easy for a day although im not doing that, i dont take it easy were going to go home and start calling them at the end of the week and the same how about this, they should have been in the room. We had numerous things we were discussing. A lot of things we were discussing and it would have been very easy if russia was in the room. He was in the room we could have solved those things, now there in limbo but with all of that, very little in limbo but somebody will him about some thingsand frankly theyre not obligated but it would be easier if they were in theroom. Josh, go ahead. There was a significant talk at the summit about Climate Change, i know and you harbored some skepticism of the science of Climate Change. What you think the world should be doing about Climate Change and do you stillharbor that skepticism. I feel the United States has tremendous well. The well is under his feet. Ive madewell. Im alive. We will soon be one of the, we will soon be, were actually doing now, exporting but you are now the Number One Energy producer in the world and soon it will be by far, with a couple of pipelines that have not been able to get approved for many years, it will have a huge impact. I was able to get noir in alaska, could be the largest site in the world for oil and gas. Ronald reagan wasnt able to do it, nobody was able to do it. Theyve been trying to do it since before Ronald Reagan and i got approved. Where the Number One Energy producer in the world, it will be the number one, its tremendous wealth and lng is being sought over all over europe and we have more of it and everybody else and im not going to lose that wealth. Im not going to lose it on dreams, on windmills which frankly arent working too well. Imnot going to lose it. So in a nutshell, i want the cleanest water on earth. I want the cleanest air on earth. Thats what were doing. And im going, i and environmentalists. People dont understand. Ive got more Environmental Impact statements and anybody , i can say definitely because ive seen many of them, more than anybody at ever been president or Vice President or anything even close to president. And i think i know more about the environment and most people. I wantclean air, clean water, i want a wealthy country. I want a spectacular country where the jobs with pensions, with so many things and thats what were getting to be very careful area at the same time , at the same time, you werent called. At the same time, very to me. We have to maintain this incredible place that weve all built. We become a much Richer Country and thats a good thing, not a bad thing because that great wealth allows us to take care of people. We can take care of people that we couldnt have taken care of in the past cause of the great wealth. We cant let that wealth be taken away. Clean air, clean water. Thank you very much everybody, i appreciate it. We are going to show the g7 summit closing News Conference to you again this afternoon and tonight cspan and as this comes to a close heres a look at trump and indian Prime Minister modi from later today. Just had a tremendous election picture and he really is a man whose loved and respected and were talking about military, were talking about many Different Things and we had great discussions, we were together last night for dinner and i read a lot about india. Its a beautiful place and its an honor to be with you
