Over a period of time to pass the agreement and a strong bipartisan way on the floor of the house. I always want more but it was bipartisan and a compromise. It was frustration. Its a place you go where you cant Reach Agreement and you start cutting how we meet the needs of the American People in and indiscriminate way. We avoided a shutdown, bipartisan agreement on any for us to proceed on any extraordinary measure. It offsets and what they want more than that. There were investments we make parity to the extent that you increase defense budget, you have to increase the budget. Our fight was for government funding for our veterans. Needs keep growing and also this time and at one time situation, florida census so we could have a constitution that requires an accurate account in america. One of the issues was the debt ceiling. The constitution says that. Now we remove all doubt. July 31, 2021. This is a very long debt limit. You so wednesday the testimony on special counsel. We could go more into that if you wish but one focus i want to make is in his testimony, he said the russians are attacking our elections and sweeping it and they are doing it as we sit here. Deception for election happened 2016 and now they are doing it again. That was wednesday when he testified in person on that. Yesterday, Senate Intelligence committee released a bipartisan for the election system and false 50 states targeted by russia. The president calls it a hoax. Mcconnell refuses that. In the senate, there was a number of bills one of ours was a tax, that the republicans objected to bringing to the floor. This is about patriotism for our country. Our electoral system is the heart of the matter. The republicans still continue to say no need to protect that. The path we have is one that respects the state of managing our elections. We want them to have resources to do their job well. We will continue to legislate, investigate and litigate. Yesterday on the capital, we celebrated the 200 days of progress that we have dealt with progress. Building on our promise to the American People, for the people in the election. Healthcare costs, lowering cost of Prescription Drugs, we sent ten bills to lower have car drugs. Reversed the gop, sabotage healthcare and strengthen preexisting conditions. Lower healthcare costs, by building infrastructure, america and a modern way. We secure paycheck fairness by equal pay for equal work which we passed in the house with raging raising minimum wage to 10 an hour. 30 Million People will get a raise in our country. Twentynine of them are women. As we pass over initiatives for the initiatives in america. Cleanup corruption and reduce the role of big giant money. We will be passing the Voting Rights act that is part of that as well. We do call upon the senate to pass a version of the safe act. We go out now for district work. , democrats intend to own all of this, to make the bills we passed too hot to handle the current the senate not to raise the minimum wage and gun violence by common sense gun violence prevention measures. Equal pay for equal work. The list goes on and on. Were very proud of the work our members have done. Lower healthcare costs, bigger paychecks, cleaner government. Ill take any questions. You once said you want to show americans the power. Some say here you are as a representative, liberal yet not fully using the priority and then some of the others, but we saw on the home insecurity, what would you say to those, what has been done so far . Youre probably aware, republicans have 137,000 ads. Criticizing me as a San Francisco liberal. In my view, thats a appellation i am proud to have. Nothing is a big honor to me to represent San Francisco in congress. Any honor my colleagues give me, they cannot match the privilege of walking on the floor of the house to speak for the people of San Francisco. I do it for them. I have to bring unity to our caucus and with the boldest common denominator. I say the Job Description and title are one in the same representatives. I consider myself weaver, making all of the threads come together in the boldest possible way. I am proud of being speaker of the house. What we are advocating is a Progressive Agenda for our country. [inaudible question] im not trying to lets get sophisticated about this. We will when we have what we need to proceed. Everybody has the liberty and luxury to establish their own position and criticize me for trying to go down the path in the most determined, positive way. Their advocacy for impeachment or give me leverage. I have no complaints with what they are doing. Mr. Miller said the other day, confirmed in the public mind that the president has obstructed justice. He was not able to investigate the president s finances, personal business or otherwise and thats what we are doing in the court. Im willing to take whatever there is there to say the decision will be made in a timely fashion. It may be endless in terms of violations of the law that the president engaged in. [inaudible question] i have some level of confidence and joy in seeing diversity in our caucus. We are the democratic party. Since i came here, we have a different opinion in our caucus. That is a good thing. We are not a rubberstamp representation of anything except presented of of our district and what that means. We have our differences. Respect that instead of making a big issue of it. Those are our differences in how we express ourselves as representatives of our district. Yesterday we had 219 votes for the bill. Does anybody have questions about that . 219, a very divide caucus. Doing what we needed to do. Its a compromise. I certainly wanted more but it was a compromise. We continue to win the house of representatives. Well have more leverage in the conversation. I would never even say it was a hatchet but we sat down today, we had a good meeting. We had a very positive conversation about our district and how we represent them. I reference Ronald Reagan as opposed to the current. Ive always felt, just like here in the family, families have their differences but youre still family. Does your family always agree on everything . You have meetings in your family . [laughter] you may be a model for the rest of us then. We just had a meeting. Im not claiming to it, im just saying when i came to congress, to fight with how we deal with them, whats happening in central america, who would become speaker eventually, no, he was speaker when i got here but he would then be a leader to stop that. Our caucus was divided on that. Its a very big division. Very big division on that. Then the war in iraq, differences in opinion. Ranking member, adam schiff at the time but hes chairman. Intelligence did not support the threat. Calling the president out wire, calling him a meyer. More people said then, i had been in congress for ten years by then, you would never go anyplace in this party unless you vote for that. But i didnt vote for that. Senator didnt vote for, later, intelligence committee. Its a big division among democrats. These personality, they are minor. We have big ones in our country between what is happening in congress and in the white house. Everybody knows have to keep our eye on the ball. Your colleagues think some are indecisive. It overshadows the agenda. Do you think theres a shot that they would make a decision on this . I dont agree with that. I think we need to have something before we go forward. I respect them on it, the knowledge they have on the subject. Do better understand the challenges of your job to unify the Democratic Caucus today . Just asked her. There were revisions after he said there were not as many as expected i would love more of a response on that. There any underlying economic factors . I havent seen all of the data yet except the figures. 2. 1. Two and half. I do think our gdp will rise when we raise the minimum wage and people have more purchasing power. These are people who will spend into the economy and therefore our gdp will rise. If we had comprehensive Immigration Reform were everybody is brought into the system in a way that is most productive, have comprehensive Immigration Reform. Until we not just have triple grounds but how we go up, thats a difference of opinion. I think what you saw was that the tax scam that they put out there, that is not produced, the president was, that that would happen. It hasnt produced a revenue. That didnt work, he didnt pay for itself. So i think we have to instead of giving tax breaks, 83 should have a more compassionate trademark system. The prosperity of the country, that consumer confidence, i think that will accelerate the growth of our gdp. Thank you all very much. Heres a look at our primetime schedule.
