Obviously it is a national honor. Thinking that she can handle herself. I had blood all over me. You would think i was the one hit that trigger this chivalry. When two of the patients started to get hysterical one was a woman one was a man to say this is why we shouldnt let the women in on the convoys. That is great he thinks he can say that and not get shah but he didnt see me as somebody he needed to protect he knew i would handle myself just fine we trained together but it is all how you integrate people. I dont thank you have that problem. The most dedicated person i saw was a guy whose best buddy was hit and was the medic and nobody had the expertise he was in the back of the aircraft with the soldier who expired and it was heart wrenching this sounds he was making crying over his brother. You get close to people that is a lie emotionally. I dont want to take too long but but you see women hurt or killed is too much for the men do we limit opportunities for women because of how the other half of the population deal with it . Or do we give them the tools to deal with that . We are not a country that legislates by half of the population religiously children because any protection. Women are strong. We would never legislate they could not walk down a dark alley. They shouldnt but some of those demand you have an escort. [applause] you are a great storyteller. During the time in the military can you comment what it is like for men versus women after the military . I was going to say its not different but it really is. Women will admit to ptsd quicker than men. That skews the data that i raise my hand to say i have ptsd i did not have that you go but there is that ribbing that goes on that is less apparent with women i would talk to a counselor then come back and they would say what did she say . Can you tell you had this dream . I said no. You need to go talk to someone. That is one difference. Veterans are treated differently. I have heard one female veteran claimed ptsd there was a few people that did not believe them or give them the disability rating because they did not believe of their job title yet it was a supply troop on a convoy that came under fire and i saved the lives but the stories go on but they have a hard time believing them. Women veterans parking in combat veterans bought and then getting a nasty note on their window how dear you parking the spot reserved for a nations hero. Im sorry i guess you meant the men. I have it on my car because it is free parking at the airport people think my husband all the time and he says youre welcome. [laughter] what would you do if your children say they want to go . I tell them to drop and start doing pushups have you heard the story she said she wanted to do the military and i said drop and do pushups. Then she said why would you let me think i could be a marine . And i said what kind of question is that . You didnt tell me that was just for boys. An adult in her life told her that. I said thats not true i will do something about that but i dont know what yet. They said you could get people that dont like you but i said lets do it because i didnt want her to grow up in that world. 2012 somebody told her that. So to accept the string and went weaknesses if they will not be happy in that role i will support them but educate them on what that means but if line is the adrenaline junkie who will slip on rocks but can handle themselves at the range. I just want them to live a full life. I noticed looking through the book there are some blackouts. Voluntary or required . Make it is a voluntary process to submit to the dod. I talk about Survival Training and some missions and i did want to make sure i didnt put something in there that was classified. They came back with redactions that that i thought were so ridiculous. I used some code words they did not care about that but they wanted to blackout the name of the physical therapist. It even push the publication date even further. So it you have been emphasizing over and over again. Additionally speaking in with the parts of society you see how society is so what lessons can we take from the military for these issues going on right now . So initially there was an uproar of cohesion not for seeing people they were not there for the social experiment and the leaders said we are doing it anyway. They did that with repealing dont ask and dont tell. And homosexuals and to be supportive of transgender. Some of those corporations dont force something down everybodys throat. Or if they take orders they dont like. If they dont want to see that. And then to gripe about something else. Does that answer your question . You know how to get a hold of me if you have questions. With that military . So how is that now . To make that just about physical standards so as the taliban and was encroaching to say who can do more pushups it isnt as much as hand to hand combat. Im not saying here to be incredibly physically strong is not that aspect i have seen people, you can say pilots dont have to be ready for ground combat. I used to get made fun of how i had to maintain my weapon. But then steves gun jammed and what am i . You dont have a gun. People understand more and i learned this at survival. If you dont take the whole group whole super bowl of the team for the quarterbacks you could say that is the most important thing in this strength is building shelters were getting food or water or navigation. And if they are not good at hand to hand combat they are infiltrated to the wrong place there is an element. But the reason that question is so relevant is yes there needs to be one standard but it shouldnt be arbitrary. There are certain jobs that take real pride in the fact no women can meet their standards and i get that. The tell me the job requirements and what you want the person to accomplish and their lofty goals. And it should be to maintain the elite status. Within if you need to pull a 200pound unconscious marine what is the task to identify those . Pull out a 200pound dummy and give them 45 seconds whatever is the standard. We have all watched that little gymnast could she do that . I dont know. Why do we set the standards thinking that equates to these jobs . Make sure it isnt arbitrary but job specific and that is my goal. [applause] clearly you have kids and families to take care of but what is your next challenge . It is a tough question. So i say prepare for the zombie apocalypse. I guess i am focused on parenting. With a two and a half men old and now going back to work. Now i want to move to france so parenting is my next big challenge. I want my kids not sheltered but not terrified so how do i walk that line to show them how lucky they are to live in the country for freedoms with bigscreen taliban and cell phones but i want them to see real suffering and expose them in our country and in others but not in a way where they come out jaded like im. I want them to grow up optimistic and not live in a cabin in the words like i did. But to find that balance is my goal now. One more thing.
