Welcome everyone to this very special event. On the half of the president who cant you hear today they are definitely here in spirit. Want to thank you all for attending and would like to acknowledge our chief program officer. Thank you. Tonights event is a very special event with a very special guests as well. Under the auspices of the jewish diplomatic corps the Flagship Program of the World Jewish Congress and its young professionals. Many of those members here are part of that network and its diplomacy and Public Policy on the behalf on behalf of the World Jewish Congress but more broadly we are all passionate about presenting the causes of the jewish people and to speak up on behalf of the people who represent them. I am also a member of the j. B. Court myself. Tonights event is organized under the title of the antiisrael agenda and they will analyze the program and offer ways to combat these ugly initiatives. And we are very happy that we have a special guest here tonight. We have the leader of the opposition Richard Herzog terry thank you for being with us here today and we also welcome alex ryvchin who is a fellow friend from the jewish diplomatic corps and also author of the new book that we are introducing here today the antiisrael agenda inside the political war in the jewish state and alex will take the floor from here and i will introduce him first and give his bio and background. Alex ryvchin is born in kiev. He hails from australia produced a prominent speaker, writer media contributor on the arabisraeli conflict and he served as a spokesman for the sinus of the United Kingdom and currently the director of Public Affairs at the executive council his book brings together some of the finest minds devoted to the arabisraeli conflict and reveals how the conflict of israel has shifted and become both a global and local war fought mostly in the corridors of power, the media, on campuses and i personally experienced it as well and every form that touches our lives and theyll hand over the floor to alex to give his remarks. Think you all. Thank you very much. Thank you for that lovely introduction. It is a singular honor for me to be here in new york to launch my look at the auspices of the World Jewish Congress the helm of the diplomatic jewish people. To begin by thanking my beautiful wife vicki whos back in australia for allowing me to come here and launch this look with two Young Children so i think are tremendously. I also extend my deepest appreciation to the old people who contributed to this book but i thank them for their echoes them and their enthusiasm to which they responded to my call. I went to thank my friends and colleagues from the jewish diplomatic corps and everyone else who played a part in organizing this event and i would like to thank the council and Robert Singer of the jewish professional and i particularly would like to acknowledge and thank the ambassador for his vision, for his leadership his generosity for everything he does for the jewish people and where honored and fortunate to have a leader of such caliber that like to convey my deep appreciation to mk i curse off for helping me launch my book. He is the best of hisyearold. Not only does he carry the name but this is a selfless leader devoted to the people of israel and im delighted he could be here. This book brings together some of the finest minds in the israelipalestinian conflict and together we go chapter by chapter including the United Nations that trade unions the news media social media the church have been gradually appropriated and turned to constructive legitimate purpose. This book for the first time explores the breadth of the conflict with israel which seeks to do it through political means what warren tara could not but can no longer defend its interests or its people. In the two and half years that i worked on this vote the question that i fielded more than any other was why. Why with a demanding fulltime job in two Young Children, why did she feel compelled to do this and it was a perfectly obvious and legitimate question and seeking to answer it i could only think of a cross between the two towers on a highwire and when he completed his feet and was promptly arrested by nypd hoard of journalists gathered each demanding to know why, why did you do this . And he answered why . There is no fly. This is simply something yet to do and to me this is something i have to do. As a born in the soviet union having come from a place for us tonight basic rights were reset for institutional racism and for the most part suffered in silence. I was born a block away from i spent the first years of my life in kl. Ive lived on hollow ground and now free in the west free to defend the basic rights of our people how could we not do this . So what is the political war and hows that wage to whom and to what end . Are looks leyna that reference to the chapters in history that the war on which was on the screen a few moments ago. The first occurred just across town on the tenth of november 1975. To passage of the infamous resolution. Now two years before that resolution was yom kippur. We mark the 50th anniversary of the sixday war the great transformer to battle in the middle east but for the most part the sixday war changed very little. The underlying condition of rejection and basic legitimacy that through the regents were remained operative. Shortly after the conclusion of that war sudans league i would expect to codify the budget with israel with no recognition and no negotiations. The more things change in 1967 the more they remain the same. So much so that these years later israel was in 1973 b. The yom kippur war was a bruising grinding encounter which shattered any semblance of stability that arisen in those days of 1967 but crucially did it relinquish the territory captured in 1967. The lesson of the her war was a new aberration and what the. [speaking in arabic] loss and 67 could not be regained by force. This necessitating an air of engagement with israel. One is the choice by egypt and 78 and 79 negotiating the camp david accords with israel peace and recognition for the territory that was in 1967 and enshrined in the resolution 242. Extending peace to demand direct ignition in 1994 but for the palestinians the loss was a catastrophe and the recognition was a monumental trial. Now faced with the prospect of being relegated to a peripheral issue on Regional Affairs of palestinians went about trying to internationalize the conflict. Shortly after the young and poor war can be begin at which Yasser Arafat the plo was recognized as a representative of Palestinian People. Few months later the United Nations. The smart the entry of the palestinian world stage as an increasingly infected and coherent political asset agenda through all levels of government in every sector of Civil Society. What were the palace and seeking with this newfound diplomatic status . It was clear that they were seeking a seat at the table. Arabs arafat announced the world who entered for the widest gates and zionism will get out of this world. Sure to matter that the resolution which states the National Version movement of the jewish people to be a form of racism. The u. S. Representative to the u. N. Decries this as an assault on liberal Democratic Values that is given the appearance of International Legitimacy to antisemitism. The event that preceded really presented a blueprint or the political war in israel has been waged ever since. Dennis ross is a veteran negotiator in diplomatic diplomat other than seeking to uplift put their people or build institutions necessary for statehood the day after the flag goes up nothing changes. I have sympathy for this but it was not merely symbolic. It affected and continues to affect peoples lives. As an example 18 months after his past more british universities expelled their jewish societies on the basis of their zionists. The zionism resolution did not end with the General Assembly and it doesnt begin her either. It was first passed in an International Womens conference in mexico and of them meeting of the nations and when it came before the General Assembly the text of the resolution expressly refer to the Previous Party and had exhausted. It relies on momentum small creeping incremental steps that keep endless focus on the palestinian agenda. Endless opportunities to demonize itself. The next great the fork in 2001 the pharmacy equally notorious durban conference against racism held in south africa. The resolution should have the political war was taken to ramallah here in new york the u. N. And the campus in the newsroom in every form that touch their lives. If codify that battle plan. It presented a vision by which the loose International Lines dedicated to israels destruction for Different Reasons could be organized and sent out to Civil Society to turn the political war into a political campaign. Durbin was significant for demonstrating the immense power and influence of Nongovernmental Organization by Amnesty InternationalHuman Rights Watch and the extent to which they are nor publicly funded budget and partiality have been haunted by the movement. Durbin also ask their braids of the movement which was evidence by the placards and the circulating copies of the order of zion could be seen the legacy of zionism as racism when a prime march in chicago excludes jewish on the bases of zionism and the former white supremacist. I took one of the kuchar readers to this to deliver a lecture in my hometown of sydney. Within minutes of commencing to talk the lecture was stormed by activists with megaphone to shut it down. Allen johnson and another where the kuchar bridge the book suffered similar abuse and intimidation. We see the legacy of course at the durban conference and the way cuts and sanctions movement which has launched immediately after durban and subsequently rebranded in 2000 i is a palestinian Civil Society initiative in large part a Toxic Association with the urban conference. Receive the legacy of this when spain does boycott israel and probably declares itself free of israeli apartheid. Of the 60 councils and spain have adopted it. Receive the legacy of this when norways largest trade union with over 1 million members formally adopts policy and we see the legacy of this when the Mennonite Church last month boasts the joining the presbyterians and quakers in mainline churches. This is the political war in israel and unlike conventional warfare it has no end. It is often difficult to discern victory from defeat and it doesnt take place on the tatel field the way our children attend through the news data we choose to support in every form that touches our lives. My book does not tell a happy story indeed israel is waiting badly and many institutions but as golda meier said if have a lot of being pessimists. They can assert itself on the world stage and i believe in the jewish aspira israel has its people because its composed of organizations who understand the culture and the political dynamics of the countries in which we undertaken this is why the relationship between israel is absolutely critical. If this were to fray would be calamity. They focus on targeting the jewish youth which is why they generally exaggerate the number of jewish who support their extremist agenda and why they are trying to cause discord in jewish world. Equal disasters would be to begin with drying to those forms have become hostile to israel. For this reason we here call to withdraw rome collaboration sever ties with organizations and withdraw from the u. N. This in my view would be selfeffacing. These organization will retain their influence with or without us and without us any prospect of presenting a dissenting opinion in fact the opposite needs to happen. We need to increase engagement all levels used in russerts Financial Support coli worsened and i love her to lay with those organizations that are about to turn on israel. My friends i thank you again for being here this evening and for helping me launch this book. Its my belief it will not be complete until the jewish state is treated as equal among the nations and i hope this book sheds light on this unjust for the war in israel and some small way to securing the right of the jewish people to live freely and security in our land. Thank you. [applause] e thank you alex for your remarks. We hope that many people will read your book. We have a very special guest here tonight and we are honored he is here to speak to us. He is the leader of the israeli opposition a member of the knesset former chairman of the israeli labour party. A little about his background. His family has history of public service. Dont they have of the state of israel his father was the six term president and his grandfather was the chief rabbi of palestine. He is an attorney by for and in served as the government secretary and then was elected to the knesset in 2003 and has been a member of the labour party and has been serving since. During his political career he served many roles in multiple governments such as minister of housing and construction minister tourism before he was appointed the minister of social services as well as minister of the jewish diaspora in the fight against antisemitism and minister of welfare and culture services. Hes had a multifaceted career and this very arena. In 2013 he became elected leader of the labour party and leader of the opposition which he has been since. Mr. Herzog we are very pleased to have you. Its a great honor and we are looking forward to hearing your remarks. Think you. Thank you everybody and first i would like to say thanks to our host at the World Jewish Congress and i greatly respect one of the great jewish leaders of our times. I want to thank the World Jewish Congress. Express might read it to to your leadership and im very honored honored is with us but i read the book, alex. I think its an excellent book. It can size is the exact picture of the battleground that we are talking about. Theres some terms which you use which i will try fight you on later on does you have to differentiate between object thing to the just cause of the creation of the state of israel and a legitimate political debate paid in half legitimate political arguments in the international community. That is more than a custom. We know that but you cannot disagree with the mere existence of the state of the jewish people. What we have seen is a threat going throughout the generations and you know theres a saying in judaism. Every generation stands in the battlegrounds of first let a start with how we can combat this. We can combat this first and foremost by having a very strong jewish organized effort and here i refer to winston churchill. 19 a weight when churchill entered politics in manchester he had the jewish constituency a large jewish consistency constituency in the right city was extremely impressed by jewish corporate life. This actually an intrigued him how Jewish Society takes care of peoples lives from childhood until death and how the communities are organized and if you think about it correctly this is the role of the jewish people to unite and Work Together to combat outside. In fact this is an outside threat which has awarded new suit for a new outlets that cover. In the 70s it was racism and zionism and before that it was the dash equation on the state of israel but its all the same throughout history soap or so they say a word about the famous battle which you have seen here in the movie and perceiving our speech. My late father had an incredible career. He was worn in ireland. My late grandfather was at that time chief rabbi of ireland and the irish free state and then he became chief rabbi of palestine. My other came to palestine in the 30s and then went to study law in cambridge and ucl. And he joined the british army when the war started after a battle on britain and he joined the army not knowing that throughout his term in the british army he would participate in normandy, in the battle of the rhine, racing bergenbelsen or occupying person belgian finishing the war as a commander in germany and one of the occupiers of and then going back to palestine and in joining the army going all the way up to the ranks of general and the founder the Israeli Military intelligence. All of his life and all of his experiences in that battleground which we have seen on the tenth of november 1975. Field inning of his speech started by something which was told to my father by a famous jewish leader at the time. He was the leader of the u. Ja. He was a survivor and one of the first british officers to enter bergenbelsen and he told my dad he should remember. Thats how that part of the speech started with the battle towards this each lasted or over a decade. Arab state in an anticommunist bloc together with the National Movement which charred and 60s , they decided the way to contain an undefined israel would you by turning zionism and racism because that had an effect wherever it may be not only in websters dictionary but in everything to do with the International Convention and laws within states. It bore fruit in 19752 years after the yom kippur war after the onslaught of arabs face the commonest rock at the time. The end of the speech the tearing of the resolution which had created i would say a wave of electrifying the International Discourse came to my father after the experience of his late daughter Robert Herzog who led what was the white papers orders and regulations of the british mandate for hitting from immigrating to their ancient homeland at that time palestine. Might rent father got up in front of a crowd of thousands in tour of the white paper at that time. That was one of two experiences which led to the unique speech which is chosen today by Experts Worldwide as one of the best speeches of the 20th century. The speech itself and i passed around by email to sonia to send to you is an incredible speech the jewish people and was zionism is all about and the need nature of the state of israel. I would add to mention a few more things about my family. My late uncle heard j. Curzon he was the director general of the Prime Ministers is that his claim to fame was in 1963 in a debate, public debates which he had called for serving as ambassador of israel to canada. He is one of the leading historians of the time. Professor arnold who claimed judaism is not only but israel is a racist state. My uncle invited him to an open debate and he agreed in the debate to place at Mckay University in montreal, canada. One of the Young Students in the debate was her fester coughlan as well as a bunch of young jews who were and who installed their lives by that debate. And my uncle crashed professor zorn be at the debate of debate which is being studied time and again which at that time was worldrenowned prince called the herzog door and be debate could be confined it in the various sources. Its another milestone in the family history. Another uncle of mine who was a legend in and of themselves was israels legendary foreign minister and he presented a unique defense of the case for the state of israel at the u. N. In the 50s and 60s as well as in the debate leading to the u. N. Resolution which is really the basis for any possible peace in the future. Now that debate one learns it in debate one understands that the brainwashing atmosphere of nations and leaders as well as local clout the arab states with that oil power they have in the void that could lead to buried dangerous developments. It was actually indifferent for a while. In the preceding months before the debate my father was vague in the jewish world and nothing happened. So much so that the card it created an uproar by being said radical in the indifference of jewish leadership and the worldwide presence of the debate within the halls of power. And enters the votes. The u. N. Takes the resolution which had a landslide majority against zionism and states which were supposed to be subjective and friendly voted against israel and one of them was a mark for marketable vote. It was mexico. Why did mexico vote against zionism and others as well. That resolution was enormous. Not only did it lead us to Public Awareness all over the world, front pages of all the newspapers and tv in the world showed that debate and the resolution, and incredible speech by the United States at the one Daniel Patrick moynihan, senator moynihan from new york or the great friend of israel and a great friend of the jewish people but also it had an effect throughout jewish communities around the world. There was an awakening and intel today i got letters comingofage telling me how that speech influenced their lives to get to know what is real is all about her and think of because the conversation should have the same effect on young all over the world and young jewish diplomats assuming the role of your generation to the most just causes, the state of israel. Now what is transpired thereafter was in inner debate with then apolitical body politic all over the world towards israel and in fact one needs to mention that following the fall of the iron curtain and the dissemination of the commonest lock the opportunity came forward with an undertaking a president george bush father. During his Election Campaign if it comes in if its possible he will lead the campaign to abolish that resolution and in fact together with israel and my father was then president of the state of israel that resolution was abolished in 1991. One of the only resolution of the u. N. Effort to be abolished and i would say attribute to president bush, father became the year before to the u. N. General assembly the uns annual assembly and in his speech demanded that the u. N. Formed the United NationsGeneral Assembly to cancel that resolution. In my fathers study, my late father study there is the original resolution drawn by him as well as they resolution unknowing the resolution whereby the ambassador at the United Nations at that time Thomas Pickering was a retired diplomat writes to his father dear mr. President is is a notion not for tearing up. However from each generation the new challenge comes up. There were few years because of the oslo process because of the Peace Process whereby those steps were put aside by antisemitism combined with entry antiisrael isnt and kind of doubled underneath and simmered from underneath and it exploded in the durban conference which was discussed by alex. Alex is look at pics clearly the battleground of today which is somewhat different in terms of technicality from the battleground of 75. For example social network and social network which is supposed to introduce democracy and free speech and open and free debate is also a platform for hate, and it merits as my father mentioned in the speech combined with racism. The mere lack of understanding of what israel is all about not only a nationstate and the jewish peoples homeland and their preference for jews but also with democratic vibrant open Community Society democracy where everybody is equal, where you have arab judge throwing for crimes during the Prime Minister in jail and the fact that you have cream organ of government deemed the Israeli Supreme Court which is one of the most liberal courts in the world. Or a nationstate whereby people seeking refuge from all over the world including from the heart of africa the only state which absorbs people from the heart of africa to give them a better life openly for a state which helps Syrian Refugees by the thousands fleeing from the border in terms of their treatment in hospitals are helping them with food and shelter in syria by ngos who are risking their lives or is paid where lying within the parliament of the state of israel, things that are said there are not heard in any country in the world including in the middle of the battleground where are members of the knesset say the harshest and most bitter things against the state of israel and free speech under the rule of the israeli constitution goes as far as one can imagine or where the parliament that has the Muslim Brotherhood represents the only parliament in the middle east which enables muslim brothers to pick their part of the parliament which causes most complicated challenges for any Democratic Society and our country, or a country which debates on the purity meaning how to treat the battleground with rules of law, International Law permits the fact that your family, your friends is under slight risk including the recent case of a soldier, a 19yearold soldier who was killed in came forward to kill soldiers by knifing them. He killed them while he was lying on the ground which is illegal and fees he has been indicted for that. A Huge National outpouring has come about with the National Debate which you wouldnt have seen in any other nation in the world which faces combat. So the case for israel is so clear and the battle against it tries to undermine that simply categorizing israel as a racist state which doesnt want to get get with the palestinians. The mere fact that the professor and i are here is an example of where the debate goes because he comes from the centerleft of his country canada and i am the leader of the opposition leading the center left in israel and the Israeli Parliament where we advocate staunchly for a twostate solution and for selfdetermination with the Palestinian People but not by way of terror. Only by way of negotiations, bilateral negotiations because negotiations are equal status of two National Movements clashing in the same land and believing there has to be a division of the land by way of a compromise of National Movements do not highway of delegitimized delegitimizing the movement namely mainly my movement by falsehoods and definitely racism. Now in conclusion i would say that the only way to combat this a legitimization of this movement is by an organized effort that im happy that there is an organized effort which is also scared by the Israeli Government that predominately by major organizations worldwide who cant understand that only by organized efforts, by telling the truth by confronting the rivals are the enemy for that matter with a weapon of saying the truth and presenting the case of israel and explaining the root causes of the conflict as well as the solution to the conflict can we win. Hatred and against jews will always be there but the geostrategic developments whether they are whether in europe or in light of the syrian tragedy as well as United States including the surge in political upheaval worldwide actually valances the picture and puts israel in a better respective which can serve better and explaining our cause in the world. Strategically the threat is there because younger people all over the world are brainwashed and exposed especially on campus and especially in spite of the fact that the story of the holocaust is farther away today from the young generation than it was 40 years ago when my father opened his speech on the holocaust but nonetheless i think the story of israel can be told and explained in a focused way with the opening of what antisemitism is all about, the source of israel, the greatness of this nation, our nation and im sure that you guys could do that yourselves in the best way. I wish you the best of luck. You are our commanders on the ground and you are our representatives wherever you are. Good luck to you and we are her to Work Together and telling the true story and overcoming the challenge. Thank you very much. [applause] i will be happy to answer questions. You can open the floor for questions. Thank you for your inspiring words and motivating us to continue with our efforts. I understand alex you want to add a couple of remarks. No . Okay. I think its easier if you asked the question directly. Our friend lawyer. You mentioned. [inaudible] in those organizations who is the audience and who is not worth the and what are the arguments that are helpful . And anyone research with language would be used. They are speaking language very differently. The first thing in terms of our groups that are too far gone to change their pinion i will be reluctant to parse words. Are there certain you are targeting. The antiisrael movement what i want to say is sometimes youll beware of statements they made in the past. Ive sat across and people of made public endorsements and you can find Common Ground and ship deposition. Generally speaking you dont try to coerce the people. They are your enemies and its the middle youre trying to secure. In any one of these forms they could be University Students or people in churches. They are people with knowledge of the conflict. Once these activists can get up to credit Billing Organization that gives more sway and it only takes one from the other side to present their view and bring about change. I would say always engaged and give your best effort. If you withdraw, if you see it as being too hostile and too difficult and you lose immediately. Our friend from the uzbekistan. Thank you for being here. Thank both of you can probably answer this question but ambivalence on the majority of bodies and ive heard that before. The question is should we change the conversation for this particular crowd and not focus on project thing the extremism or focusing on israels power and their democracy or their power or their contribution to the world three should we change the conversation and leave the majority of the student body to say we dont want to talk to the extreme side of university that maybe focus on israel. You want to ask another question . Look, first of all one has to say frankly no nation is perfect, okay . I will say this they are our mistakes. Every government in every nation makes mistakes. So israel can make mistakes. It doesnt go to delegitimizing the right of the existence that thats a difference. When you face an earth that wants to say you were a racist ballast in use first of all they view the palestinians as underdogs. They are the weaker party and you have to answer the question by saying yes 80 of the nation is willing to settle for peace in the National Conflict preserving our security, our defense understanding that the face suicide on things and we face kids which are in kids. We face kids simply slaughtering other people, innocent people. We have to defend them and they so the plants. Selfdefense. The issue in debate within the israeli democracy when israel went for peace it was in settlements and moreover solution which are known to all speak about three major israeli settlements which comprise of only 4 and they are going to be swapped with other land which israel will give so there is a solution. All you need to do is come to the table and negotiate peace rather than saying i dont have a right to exist. I dont have a right to my National Movement. We are an apartheid state. Its all baloney. We are not an apartheid state. We have a state that has a majority in the minority. Yes its always difficult for the minority to break the Glass Ceiling by her Deputy President of the Supreme Court justice and arab judge in a remarkable speech define what it means to be an arab judge in the jewish state and our women judges and an arab woman judge was just order to close one of the Biggest Industries in israel on environmental issues. Its an everchanging society and rather than blaming that society for things you dont know these movements sometimes was the time our brainwashed with their own narrative however when people come and learn and listen including leaders of the churches and i met many of the leaders of the Presbyterian Church and many others. Now they see things in proportion when they see things happening in the region what happens to christians in gaza or the situation of christians in egypt. Definitely what is happening in other countries, iraq and so forth. Those people understand that we are faced with, we are confronted with radical islam, we meaning a coalition of nations, the jewish nation, the christian nation and muslim nation who surround us and are waiting to come to terms with us as opposed to an 1975 or 48. Our nations are yearning to be part of the coalition with us if we move on the Peace Process. And even they themselves with the rhetoric karma toward cautious in what they say about the right of israel to exist. This is the new circumstance. The movement has not learned its facts yet. And i thank you for coming. I do question about the past 10 years or so about the association and for example in 2008 made an essential confession and the hamas secretary ruled that they would never agree to the Palestinian Authority and secure a Peace Agreement when they are representative particular particularly by those in gaza. I think its a very strong case, i agree. The international notion is the twostate solution. You cannot have the twostate solution with two persons in the state there has to be one palestinian state under one rule with one vote as they say in one weapon in the issue of gaza is a very strong issue to mention. I say you cant have two Palestinian States and you cant talk about a three state solution creates a twostate solution. Gaza is the most complex issue to resolve in order to move through the process. Jerusalem is the most complicated of all but in terms of entering into the process and asking palestinian leaders including abbas himself that has to be part of the equation. If you expect israel to move forward for peace you have give us a solution about gaza. Gaza will come on ward. Lets say what we see and hear as you mentioned correct way is hamas not only refusing to recognize israel but also the king about the annihilation of israel so we are kind of forced by extreme islam basically the iranian islam which wants to cover us from hezbollah, from hamas and thats by the moderate coalition of nations is the answer to violent extremism and its an opportunity to be please. Have a question worth for both of you. Do you think if the United States leaves that other countries will follow and beat a path to israel sexting first with the club to have the American Embassy in jerusalem and we all want more embassies recognizing israeli however i can frank to say its not the most prioritized interests prioritized interest. It has political sensitivities. I would like to i worked on campuses around the area for the past year and the jewish generation has separated itself from the state of israel in general. The problem right now is that we cannot reach this generation. And not back. [inaudible] in short it would be catastrophic and if you have a situation where we are talking about diversity all the people attending israel as a pariah and associated with apartheid in genocide and the consequences are another generation, and people take a leadership in government and organization so in short its a tear. I wonder how well jewish advocates present the story of israel. Some refuse every accusation and defended staunchly. No country is perfect but the basic story of israel is six toward merrily. Bite force conversions en masse with occasions they breathe warmth and credited the new state. Then incredible story and i wonder if they knew better and whether there would be because the current should get her is certainly very damaging when those people take on leadership positions they will see the consequences of the. Would the following. First the phenomenon, that phenomena is not new in this generation. There were many generations where there were many jewish youngsters who turned their back secondly i think the way to deal with it is by inclusivity namely to enable dissenting voices to be part of the debates within the jewish community. For example j street. J street is a very important tool in bringing those youngsters into a form whereby they have an ability to teach and understand that explain the dip dates which go on in israel and inviting them to take part and also get to know israel and the truth about israel rather than shutting them out to the extreme side of the debate and say we are turning against israel. I want you to know more and if you have a more liberal worms so it and i think part of the responsibility of the force that leads this debate on behalf of the jewish people is enabling their voices to be heard and discussed and say yes we have an internal debate. We are saying hopeful things within the debate. We are saying saying the most extreme things to our government or vice versa. Thats the beauty of democracy just like here in the United States. The two big Political Parties in the United States their debate goes way beyond sometimes what you hear that thats part of introducing the debate. I agree with your fear. There are many jewish voices in the young generation who are extremely disturbing. Please. Ill take one last question because of time constraints. I think one of the most Interesting Development especially 1967 can become a left and right issue. 50 years ago was liberals and today [inaudible] in israel you can do that. The contents [inaudible] there are is the difference between the difficulties occurring and is real and whats happening outside because of the superficiality of the left. A protective edge for the average israeli day in and day out was really a battle against their own in protecting our people. And to people abroad it was a human tragedy of the young palestinians. How do you explain quite
