This has just been terrific. Thanks for the conversation. Im looking forward to the book and going back and looking at your speech. I want to to see the real life ties between her life. Book tv is on facebook. Like us. Youll see behind the book videos and pictures. Facebook. Com book tv. They weigh in on Hillary Clintons campaign. That starts now here on book tv. [applause]. Thank you it is always a pleasure to be invited to speak in some cases when chris only gives me 15 minutes. I enjoy the audience at the library. Awful, engaging and respectful. It is a distinct honor to be able to introduce a longterm friend of the Nixon Library. During the nixon yearsthere are vivid memories of the 1968 Republican National convention. It was watched on a black and white tv late into the night hoping for his nomination. We have come to learn more about Richard Nixon and the marquee left on our country and the world. As i look at our state of the nation nixon now more than ever. Q is a frequent figure in reviewing figures and discussing participating in debate and participating in the radio show. He show served in the Nixon Administration as a speechwriter. He hails from ohio claiming to be some form of buckeye. He did however choose to purchase his law degree from the hated university of michigan something i do not understand. [laughter] he is a practicing attorney prof. Of law and a remarkable influence on the Republican Party at all levels across the country. He is a frequent guest on television shows, networks that would not otherwise have my patronage except for sporting events. Most prominent, i believe is being the host of the best talkshow in america. He has the most impressive array of gas, senior elected and government officials, authors, opinion authors, opinion writers and national influencers. He host educational series for the president that is a graduate level intellectual experience. His style is insightful and engaging. He is respectful never talking over his gas and always allowing them to have their say. He provides a platform for those who whom he disagrees as well as those with whom he agrees. He engages in an intellectual exchange. It is smart radio and all who listen to his shows are better informed people. He is an author and for tonight the object of our attention. Rather than orienting our attention on someone else. I think we will find that beyond the astute analysis of the former secretary of state is a bit of a fortuneteller. He is is rolling the dice on such a long shot that she might consider a second run for the white house. The gamble has paid off. Ive not yet read the Thing Holding out for a free copy. [laughter] so, it is with great anticipation i welcome hugh hewitt. [applause]. Thank you. Ive been introduced a lot of times, im very highly honored that he would introduce me and make a special trip to the library. They are friends of betsy and me. We. We first met downstairs at the Nixon Library at an event where secretary of state rumsfeld was the guest of honor. I was was downstairs and i have to remember, i married the daughter of a marine core kernel. My brotherinlaw is a retired marine corps colonel. You would think i wouldve figured out i was talking to a marine for about 20 minutes when he was active duty at the time he has since retired. I didnt and it was a little tense. So i finally said, wait a minute, they had been laying on the ocean comments and i kinda figured it out. I set are you a marine . And he said yeah. Are you active duty . Because if he was, given his age, that meant there would be a couple stars on his shoulder and he said yeah. And yeah. And i said are you a general . And he said yes i am is very right facing as military leaders are. I said im sorry i was rambling on and talking to him and my fatherinlaw, if he were alive would be so deeply ashamed of me. Military spouses serve a long alongside their soldiers. Filomena would you stand up and let everyone say hello . I would like to thank the library for having me tonight. I. I brought along a bag of props. I will explain them as we go along. I also want to thank my los angeles home. The media group of which i am a part of. We have great sponsors first off first off the money guys, california selects windows. Radio would not exist in america if it wasnt for great sponsors like these and across the United States, if you listen to the radio, listen to the people but the radio on because without it it would go away. I want to thank my partners who allow me the opportunity to go back and forth across the country. I was on meet the press, face the nation and others this week. That means im not practicing law during that. Of time. They kind of overlook that as i go back and forth and we have lots of associates that pick up the pace, but i very much appreciate it. I am here to talk about this book, the queen. Im holding that up for the benefit of our cspan friends and book tv. Its the coming of hillary in the second clinton area. If you watched frank once you know he is the best media analyst when it comes down to meet political opinion. He said if you dont say the name of the book seven times you wont sell the book. So im going to talk about the queen a lot in if i dont mention the queen seven times he told me you wont remember the queen and you wont by the queen and with that i think you will remember the queen and ill put it down and come back to the queen a little later. I was downstairs talking about leadership. Mel serves an extraordinary role in the public set there helping people become leaders. Im going to talk about getting ready for something. Im going to be asking questions at the president ial debates. This is because of the rights reform. They have brought order out of the chaos out of the debate schedule. He has bought brought order to the primary calendar and brought the convention to Cleveland Ohio for which he could be canonized as a son of the great state of ohio, i am very glad that the Cleveland Convention is going to come on the heels of a brown super bowl and a Second National championship for the buckeyes. I am going to be back cleveland and because they looked at the fiasco that was the debate of 2012, they said were going to do this differently. We are going to organize nine at least nine and maybe 12 debates, and we and we are going to have media partners. If a candidate goes to debate not on our schedule, they wont be in our schedule. Good, those are rules that you need in order to bring order. By the way if youre going to be our media partner you need to include conservative media voices, which is kind of a surprise. A shot. In a gop president ial nomination that you would allow someone from their side of the spectrum to ask questions that might be of benefit to gop voters. That does not not mean they will be excluding great journalists on the other side. They should be doing their journalistic best as well. But journalists who are understood to be not nearly observers of the participants in the process are going to be welcomed into ask key questions. I think this is going to revolutionize the process and i want to talk about how you prepare. Where i go in the United States, i just came from Colorado Christian University for a week where i was teaching 150 young people. I interviewed scott walker in front of all these folks and everywhere i go, its republicans and conservatives asking me what are you going to ask . Whenever they asked that question they really have a suggestion for you. I listen and how do you prepare . I am happy to have been selected for this thing and i want to talk about it. Its launched a very weird thing. At this moment i am still the only conservative who has been named officially and ill be doing more debates, im not the moderator. Thank god. I love donald trump but i dont want to moderate his debate. Donald trump has been my guest. All of the republican nominees have been my guess on the radio. The one that is most interesting and entertaining as always donald trump because he colors outside the lines and he doesnt stay in his lane. It really doesnt matter what the question is that you ask. [laughter] thats okay. Thats fine, its its great radio. I have been preparing for a cover story. He said i was having a media media moment. That makes me laugh to because the media moment is sort of like the rain we are having in california in june. Everybody knows we need it but it doesnt mean a damn thing. Its going to be over before you know it. Nevertheless, i took very seriously these debates. I dont believe in ambush questions, i believe in preparation. I want to talk a little bit about how you prepare to do this sort of thing. How do you prepare to earn the praise of someone when someone says you run the best radio show and hes a two star marine general. When hes at all talk about stanley mcchrystal, that is the best interview by a longshot shot that ive ever done. When he writes that in my book, im happy. How do you get there and how to get ready for debate question right thats what what i want to talk about tonight. First i want to thank book tv for being here. When i go to my bag of tricks, there are a lot of them here, first i hold up the book called sundays at eight by one brian lamb. If any of you came to me we spent three hours talking together, he is my model as an interviewer. I. I hold up a second book on the first ladies of the United States. Who is also along with brian lamb, one of the makers of what is book tv. I want everyone want everyone to know that book tv is here for people on the weekend for people who love books. These are oases in a land of sand bite where you actually have conversation. I think brian lamb and peter are so thorough that if everyone studied them like i have studied them, you would have a lot better media. In fact the 1i artie mentioned, jake, chuck john dickerson, they are all themselves authors, they are all themselves authors who have written very good books. The stranger by chuck Todd John Dickerson wrote a great biography of his mother nancy dickerson. Another was about a command post in afghanistan in the history thats riveting and moving and very emotional to talk about and read about. If you take the time to watch the best in the business, they are not only journalists, they are writers. They are readers. I have been preparing for a long time these debates by doing one thing and thats what i want to to encourage everyone in the audience and that is to read widely and deeply and things you are not familiar. I will hold up a few examples of this. Coming soon this library, the fellow in my studio yesterday the book im holding up for the benefit of the camera, am i doing that right . Its called being nixon. This is an unusual book. Evan thomas as part of the jott georgetown set. He is a harvard man like i am, but he was working for catherine glam and has dug deep into the nixon story, and i know there are some lovers of this book and not lovers of this book within the nixon family of which i am a proud member. I found i found it so compelling that i had him on for two hours yesterday talking about being nixon. Hes coming to to the library and i was glad even though he was not part of the Nixon Administration or part of the nixon family, he was able to treat fairly the strengths and weaknesses of a great american. When i asked him he was a great man he said yes. I read a segment about saving israel in 1973 and we talked about that and evan thomas is relentlessly fair. Yes there are downsides in nixons careers and their upsides in his career but they are relentlessly and chronologically covered in a fair fashion. Thats thats what we want our authors to do. The day after, im talking to you ill be interviewing ted cruz about his new book a time for truth. The day after that i will welcome into my studio amb. Michael oren to talk about his new book ally which, this is not my reading copy, this is my signature copy that all have them sign and put in my collection. This is an incredibly moving book about an american who becomes an israeli and becomes a warrior and then their ambassador. I want to ask him about the deal we are going to sign with iran. He chronicles and understands the perspective of the territories. He has been mayor and waged war there and been in gaza. He records at all and its an amazing book. I will be prepared to ask questions of these candidates not because i know anything about gaza ive never been there. Ive been to israel but i havent been to the west bank, but ive read through the eyes of someone who has. Last week, i have to keep going up and down, its not good for the cameras i know. Last week daniel silva was on for an hour. How an hour. How many of you listen to that interview . If you had havent read his novels, this this is number 15. He comes on one hour every summer. This is a readers copy and you cant have it. I know some of you are lusting for this. I told my kids that Colorado Christian University that if they would read the novels beginning with the english killer, the killer angel is what its called actually and then read forward they would have a history of modern times told in fiction. They would have a deeper understanding understanding of the world they live through fiction. Novelists take you to places like Putins Kremlin and they talk about places and encourage you to ask questions. What you think putin would think of you as president . Thats the putin primary. Who would he like least like to be the president of the United States. How affect how we think . I asked Chris Christie this a couple months ago and he kind of laughter me. I said who do you think putin would least like, a guy from jersey . And theres a quality to that. After that two books i want to talk about dash they want to end discussion about so many things and these are the things we want to have a discussion about. This is going to be on the New York Times bestseller look. List. These are my friend away spent a whole day with them talking about the things they do not want america to talk about. They want to end the discussion but we are not going to do that. We have to open the discussion but with questions that are framed in such a way at the debate that they will in licit informative looks at how they would govern. These next two books are about the great war in which we are engaged. His book has changed the way i do my radio show already. The reason the Mcchrystal Group are in demand is because they bring clarity to a lot of confusion. They bring absolute certainty about method but not results. Rigor, and when he talks about the war, he talks about how in iraq in 2003 took over special operation and by the time he left three years later it increased by 1700 the by 1700 the number of missions they ran on a daily basis. How did they do that . If you think of anything else i has improved 1700 in the last five years . Mark know. So where do you go to find leadership . You talk to these people who have been in the heart of the hardest crucible of all. I want to know from these candidates what they think of the current leadership and what they think of the pentagon and if they judge it to be as broken as the veterans of this war believe it to be, and as underfunded. This is a chilling book. Mike mike mireles was here, the great war of our time. Former director of the cia, not without controversy, 33 years and that agency. Two of them as acting director. In the great war of our time he talks about that unless you understand the story that was up through the end of the looming tower, and i talk about the looming tower always and i ask all 16 candidates if they have read the looming tower. Why do i do that . I dont think you can understand the enemy we are involved with unless youve read that book and understand where radical islam is comes. His book walks you through, from 9 11 to the present when he left the cia where we are. Were in a very dangerous place. The attack in tunis this past weekend and what happens in the United States and the next 16 months will frame, and i wish to ask these candidates, and i wish to wish to ask the queen, are you ready to win this war or do you simply want to be in the white house to observe it . Because right now it does not appear to me that we are engaged in winning the war and the metastasis that is occurring in the Islamic State and sponsored terrorism is deeply troubling. I need to ask them these questions so i read these books to get ready. There are a few other books i think have think have mattered a great deal about journalists. For journalists in particular david brooks in his road character talks about the great George Marshall. I want to know from these candidates if they have the ability to find and select people like George Marshall who were the essence of selfeffacing. Its very hard to find people that do not advertise themselves. Theres hardly a moment that goes by that i dont say follow me on twitter. To be on the radio is to be in the business of selfpromotion. The least selfpromoting person was George Marshall and he may have been the essential american. David brooks makes a good argument in the road character that he was. At the same time there is a new generation of journalism that have all been on the show in the last month. Carlson has an amazing story about getting real. Theres an amazing story in the silencing. Dana perino makes me laugh every time she comes on my show. These are new journalist that didnt exist and have very different approaches. She was press secretary of the president of the United States. She knows George W Bush and is a fan of george w. Bush. Gretchen carlson is a serious journalist. She is a a hardworking, up from nowhere, concert violinist, and never the last hardcore journalist. She worked in dallas before she got a gig with cbs before getting real on fox news. All three of those people have one thing in common. They are all relentlessly. They dont have an agenda as they set out to interview people. The last prop in my bag is the most important in preparing for these debate. The last book in my bag, does anyone have a guest . You mightve heard, nono, the queen, is the first book in my bag. David axelrods believer. Did he come to the Nixon Library . He should. This is the open komodo. This is the life is spent on the left, eloquently eloquently and wonderfully written by a journalist who served Harold Washington and president obama and everybody in between. He wrote a book about how he won two elections in extraordinary fashion. He shouldve won the second one. He was behind with three weeks to go. But if you want to understand what questions to ask the republicans, you read the democrats book. Other books other 2012 collision book how do you prepare to ask republicans questions . You read the books of everyone who is a journalist of warriors and especially of democrats. Then then you sit down and you begin to ask yourself what would you ask hillary if you had a chance to ask the former secretary of state a question . From that process came the queen. Now i i want to talk about this book. What book . The queen. A year ago my editor called me up and said would you do a book on 2016 . I did not intend to do a book on 2016. I have written a lot of books. Two years ago i wrote a quasi memoir about seven gifts from seven givers. But 2016 matters a great deal. By the time they called up they were all available, three years worth of hillsdale discussions. We have covered a lot of ground in three years. But at the time he called, what were we doing . We were talking about the prints. Machiavellis the prince was published 500 years ago give or take a year. There is some uncertainty about when he wrote it and when it was published. We were deep into the prince which was the most amoral book that was ever written. Its about assembling and using power not necessarily for good purpose. It contains the most famous line of all that says its better to be feared than loved if youre going to rule. He talked talked about how to keep a dynasty going. It is written from an opponent of the regime. Machiavelli had been the republic of florence which was overthrown. He writes from exile after he was imprisoned and tortured, he writes a letter on how to govern called the prints. He said how should i think to advise a prints. How should i think to advise a democrat . Sometimes if your democrat you ought to listen to a republican and sometimes if youre a republican you also should read the democrat books. So the queen queen is my advice to hillary. Some people are mad at me because its pretty good advice. [laughter] folks that who have read the book set are you giving away too much . I said for warned is forearmed for our side. They said this is tongueincheek. I said no this is not tongueincheek. If i were her this is the platform i would run and this is how i would approach each of the 16 candidates and you might be facing them. Im not going to tell you everything in the queen because then you wont buy the queen and the purpose of you writing a book is to have you buy it. My real purpose, and if youre listening, i want you to buy 100 million of these goes on the bestseller list when mrs. Clinton opens the bestseller list every single weekend, she list every single weekend, she sees the queen and gets aggravated. Because the Nixon Library doesnt sponsor political speeches. This is not a political speech but if you act like a queen you ought to be expect to be talked to like a queen and advise like it queen. And thus far she is indeed acting like a queen. So heres the platform that i had given her. I thought really give her what would win. The 70 , not percent, not the primary. See she is running a primary campaign right now and is only mildly disturbed by james webb. Dismissive of Vice President biden and conflicting with john kerry. She is in fact a dreadful candidate and she in fact had a catastrophic tenure at the secretary of state. So so if youre a dreadful candidate would difficulty connecting and people are raising issues and you cannot run into the age issue and you have to confront it squarely, and if you have nothing on which to run what do you do . I suggest to to her platform that has five large planks and i wont go through them in detail, i think she ought to run and let the people decide campaign. She ought to campaign vigorously against the institution of the elect were college. It shouldnt include the Electoral College. Not not many people understand the genius of the Electoral College. It is easily run against and if it is ever done away with you will never see a candidate in kansas again. That is why it exists to make sure that regional concerns are met by national candidates. There is a certain equality in terms of location and population. Hillary doesnt need that. She needs to sell people on the idea that it is unfair that not everyone votes count as much. Indeed it doesnt. Right now i am here to here to tell you, how many of you are californians but you dont matter. You dont matter. In this this election, florida, virginia, ohio and colorado matter. To a lesser extent New Hampshire and nevada and maybe arizona. But really the first formatter florida, virginia, ohio and colorado. That is who matters. That is where everything will be spent. Now thats not who get nominated. The people win in those states arent going to get nominated by our side because we have a less than ideal system. The right reforms have made it better but given that reality, if you run against the Electoral College it makes a lot of sense that you dont matter. Secondly you ought to run against the 22nd amendment which is a very bad idea. The 22nd amendment limits president s to two terms. As i write in the queen, if she runs against the 22nd amendment she runs in favor of pres. Obamas return. She runs she runs against george w. Bush with the idea that bull bill clinton wouldve done a better job in 2000 George W Bush did. But she appeals to everyone who always felt strongly that their candidate was the best ever. The 22nd amendment was a reaction to fdr. Teddy roosevelt tried to run for what wouldve been a third term but fdr actually did it and succeeded because he was the necessary man in 1940. And in 1944 but the republicans didnt like that. The reflect kneejerk reaction was the 22nd amendment. She ought to run on letting the people decide. It might be very bad for us if an election comes along. If you think about it what if we had been in the middle of a president election when 9 11 wouldve happened. How how badly that wouldve distorted the outcome. Or how you wouldve not had wanted to change forces in midstream at that point if you had been forced to do so. The third plank i talk about about is rebuilding our national defense. There used to be something called scuba jackson. He ran for president and was a Strong Defense democrat. He brought a measure of relief and freedom and he was often called the senator from boeing because he strongly believed in everything that could fly and bomb. He lived on because the reagans were the continuation of him and they came into our party. My book, the queen, which you can of course buy at amazon. Com barnesandnoble. Com says she ought to run seriously on a platform of rebuilding as jimmy carter did. In 1979 to 1980 it was led by then secretary of the fence bill brown. It was encouraged by jimmy carter. That is not happening right now. When i went to the retirement ceremony, it was great, there were people like me and there was the speaker of the assembly of california. There were democrat and republicans at the retirement retirement of a lawyer. Wouldnt it be great if everyone could serve that way again . That way we would not be turning toward 2. 5 gdp spending but up to 5 . She should run on 5 plank. Good times and and bad times were going to spend 5 on military funding. Well have second forces second to none and spend the money on the marine corps and other areas. As pres. Reagan said prepare for war and it will not come, dont and it will. Pretty crazy. The fourth part of the platform i recommend to her is to talk like a republican intact like a democrat when it comes to energy. Right now the Democratic Party is in the grips of the Climate Change extremists enthusiast. We dont dont know how much mankind contributes to it or if we can stop it. Its not in our game. Another nevertheless the greens are driving a large part of the Democratic Party and thats fine until she has a nomination. At that point she should become the queen of fracking. She should become the advocate for exploration combined with a severance tax. By the way it wouldnt be bad for a republican to believe in this. Its not that hard anymore to find the oil. We know where it is and the natural gas. You put it well in northeastern ohio and you can get gas. Put it anywhere and you can find natural ass. Fracking takes a lot of the mystery out of it. I think she will in bracelet and she should build the patroness system. It should be given to local boards appointed by dash Hillary Clinton. There isnt enough of it right now. There are not enough appointees that are brought in by the president. There is an unaccountable federal government. The framers didnt see it that way, thats a progressive idea. It was born out of the Progressive Movement that brought so much pain and suffrage to this country. That works because then the people work for you and not against you. With all that being said, there are other things im not going to cover. I have very specific advice on what to do about bill clinton and what role he ought to serve. I ghostwrite speeches for her and put them into the queen. I have been ghostwriting since i worked in 1978 in the real war. Most recently i edited mitt romneys campaign book. Im not participating in the cycle at all but i would help anyone with the speech and im pretty good at it. I believe in the Republican Party and im a party man but im staying out of the 16. I do all that but i also give her, in section 2, my candid assessment about what she should think about the 16 people running against her. I give her their strengths and weaknesses. Now i got in trouble this weekend because i in trouble this weekend because i did not pay close enough attention to my notes and i skipped carly. Dont ever skip her. You will never hear the end of it. I have since seen her twice or talk to her and she has reminded me on both occasions that i skipped her name. So im going going to go through this list carefully and tell you what ought to worry the former secretary of state about each of these people. Im im doing it in a medical order. Then you cannot accuse me because i have no dog in this fight and im going to be relentlessly fair. Former Florida Governor jeb bush. His greatest strength is clintons greatest strength. He has been around the track at a president ial level vi times. His father in 1980, his father his father in 1984, his father in 1988 his father in 1992, his brother and 2000 and his thousand and his brother and 2004. Why does that mother matter . Because she has been around the track that many times as well. Almost. Probably more if you count correctly. She ran with her husband in 1992 and 1996 and was in the white house in 2000. She was a noncompeting 2004 and senator supporter of john kerry campaign. She knows his primary circus. She ran into thousand 12 as the secretary of state looking at a candidate for reelection and shes running again. What is jeb bush have that Hillary Clinton has . The experience that only comes with running this gauntlet. There is a reason that they build facilities all over the United States to train marines and other military in simulation with the combats they will be in. That is because you come cannot experience combat that you cant get close to it. You cant possibly possibly know what it means to run for president , the fatigue the ambush situations the fact that you are on always on. The the more you do something the better you get at it. You know how many interviews ive conducted more than 25000 25000 that does not include collars. You learn how to do an interview and you learn how to run for president. Firsttimers dont have that experience. This is clinton and jeb bush know what is coming. Thats an enormous advantage for both of them and i write about that. Theres also the problem that bill clinton likes jeb bush. They like each other. That makes it a little bit tough to get into a tough knife fight politically. A little tough tough but it wont stop mrs. Clinton. Ben carson . Hes an unlikely nominee but i saw him speak again at closed instants. I i was in the green room with his wife and he is a gifted order and an inspiring story. Without question no one has his story in this race. Everyone is privileged with the exception of Rick Santorum to hear about where he has come from. No one can say with any degree of certainty that they know the Health System as well as he does. Hes a deep man of faith and very charismatic. She should be worried about him not because hes going to be the nominee but because he will be a participant if the republicans are smart, at at every step of the process all the way through the next eight years. Maybe lightning will strike, i dont know. I think some of them are a very long shot but nonetheless, things happen. I remind you of jimmy carter. Things happen in the primary process you can never tell. Chris christie who announce presidency on the day im making the speech. Extraordinary charisma, the big guy i call him in the queen. He is as blunt as they come. He is jersey tough. She is very resilient herself. But what Chris Christie has found himself required to do is speak in explicit terms in great deal about things that trouble us. Whether its entitlement or anything else. She should be worried about that kind of persona because to the degree he is blunt, she is not. To the degree he is straightforward she is hidden. He will tell you exactly what is on his mind and she will not his mind and she will not reveal. That does not do her well. Ted cruz, i write in this book in the queen, hes the only candidate who has argued 963 court cases. He is probably the greatest constitutional scholar to seek the white house and will probably go on to become the chief justice of the United States. He knows the constitution. My advice to her and the queen is very simple. If he is the nominee do not debate him. [laughter] refuse. Now you might ask yourself, cannot, cannot be done . Who did it last . We are in the Nixon Library and Richard Nixon refused to debate george mcgovern. You bet it can be done and Hillary Clinton would be out of her mind to debate ted cruz. He would take her up apart muscle and joint. Thats why i recommend that she simply declare that i will not engage senator cruise in the debate. I recognize he is a better debater than i am and therefore i wont do it. Thats why i wrote this book. For armed is for armed is forewarned. Thats what i think she will do. Ted cruz could win or lose. I i have no idea about these things. Carly this is the difficulty of writing a book a year before. I wrote dont engage, dont respond shes dangerous. Its great advices in it. Hillary is following it and carly is mad at me. Thats why she is rising in the polls. She goes right at mrs. Clinton every time she is given the opportunity. Most recently on my show tonight. Lindsey graham with whom i never agreed on anything until the republicans in the house in the senate and the president decided to cut the Retirement Benefits of active duty members of 20 years. We got together and help change that law because it was wrong and it was very, very wrong. Lindsey graham stands for one thing and that is very strong military. Only only two of our candidates have served. Lindsey graham and rick. Its a unique a unique experience and makes you able to elevate tom cotton ord joni ernst, the three warriors who were recently elected in the senate. They will bring realworld experience to this. I have to quickly talk about Mike Huckabee and he will be on my radio show tomorrow so this is airing after ill be on. Hes the hes the best storyteller in the bunch. He is the most able campaigner. He is a charming man. I saw him in the hallway on sunday morning. He is walking down the hallway and didnt miss a beat. He said how are you . You run into a million journalists and none of them expect to be recognized. They all call me dennis anyway. By the way hes a very bad man, dont buy his book the Ten Commandments just because its a bestseller. Thats what he is and i warned her about that. I suggest she zero after him about the shared arkansas experience to identify it as an arkansas native even though she isnt but she did live there and work there and work the back roads. Bobby gentle, i i dont know if theres an iq test they have to pass, hes the only man who talks faster than i do. He sued the sued the federal government over common core. Thats his issue. Its the most messy issue ive seen a rise. There is nothing more screwed up than homework at the Kitchen Table and there is nothing worse than mom and dad who cant do second grade math. They are mad and this is an issue that is growing. Bobby originally embrace common core. They all thought standards would be great but its not working. He has stepped out and sued the federal government because they took over common core and they now have their financial interest in it and he took it on. Thats his secret strength. Thats his secret his secret sauce and i warned her about that. John kasich has produced them most president s because we dont count those born on english soil. And the first man to step off this planet and onto another one, neil armstrong. Hes full of energy and made some decisions which cannot go down well with the tea party. My advice to mrs. Clinton, every single single sentence, bring up his medicaid expansion. John kasich is a great governor as he embraces obama care. John kasich carried 86 of 88 ohio counties. Their deep blue gm loving, uaw steelworker employing. Why did he do that . Because hes an incredibly gifted politician at the retail level. He has to remind primary voters that he will win ohio if hes on the ticket. Remember florida virginia ohio colorado. Thats a big advantage. Rand paul. Excuse me i almost skipped george pataki. He stood up when america was flat on his back. He proved he was able to do so and led democrats as well as republicans. His appeal to bipartisanship is that a number of people say they can walk across the guile but he actually did it. Thats his strength. Rand pauls strength is that in an era of worry about surveillance background checks have been done on all agents and all of them have been hacked. The surveillance issue is a constance constant. Mrs. Clinton was monitored by her and they probably have everything. You should ask her to find five ask them to find out about the 30,000 emails that are missing. But that concern we have about surveillance is what empowers rand paul as well as his giftedness of connecting with young people. He goes on medical missions and performs free eye surgeries. He walks the walk and that matters in america. Hes the real deal. In the eyes of the Islamic State , maybe not well see. Governor perry was my guest today. He is underestimated along with Rick Santorum. It seemed to be a time that scott walker said if you want to come up of a name with the future. But watch out, he did this once before and made mistakes. He knows how to improve upon it. Hes not running after back surgery and running on vicodin. He does run with a gun and shoot coyotes and hes a texan. If it hes a texan. If it wasnt for texas we wouldve had negative job growth in the United States over the last six 1 2 years. He reminds you of that continuously. Hes really good. He has glasses just like mine. [laughter] marco rubio was described to me as the hottest commodity. He is right now the flavor of the month according to one of these 16. Why is that . Because ive never seen whenever i see him speak i look at the back of the room and the waitstaff comes out. Why . And this happens with ted cruz to because they see their son or daughter at the front of the room because marco rubio father worked the back of the room. If you havent ever interviewed someone you dont know how impressive this is. Ive done many long interviews with senator rubio. He has never had note. He has had total recall of everything i asked and he is never adalat loss. He shares with ted cruz and amazing eloquence in preparation. He speaks in spanish as does governor bush and then my heart sinks. If you read believer as i have you realize in the last campaign a lot of american citizens consume male most of their media in spanish. A lot of citizens live in virginia, florida ohio and especially colorado. Virginia ohio and florida went by margins of roughly 100000 votes for president ial president obama. Many of those residents are spanishspeaking. The other states were 1 states but but not here because of the latino votes in colorado. The spanish consuming media are very concerned that the president ial candidate wish to be respected for their ethnicity and culture and want to be understood as fully american and involved in the political process. Met romney has told me that the biggest mistake of the 2012 campaign was made and not addressing Spanish Language media. We cannot make that mistake again. Rubios greatest strength is there. So what do i suggest to Hillary Clinton . Take him out. What a surprise the New York Times is running marco rubio anti opposition research. Its not coming from our team. Speeding tickets. Really . A fishing boat they called a speedboat that he had a big mortgage and a lot of student debt . Theyve identified him as one of their biggest threats and theyre trying to reduce him. Rick santorum could be told hes most like me and of anyone in this race. Hes an italian catholic. I barn storm with rick when he wrote his book blue collar conservatives. Hes a couple couple years younger than i am. Hes a steelers fan unfortunately, im a brown fan. He speaks to reagan democrats in a way very few people do. He won iowa for a reason. People like him in a small room. He won pennsylvania twice. He only lost it because of the blowout in 2006. He 2006. He can hold onto it. Watch him. He remains the most underrated candidate. Donald trump is a little mix of many personalities. Hes the greatest promotable in america. When he talks people listen. He talks very bluntly and people listen. Like ross perot he could grow. Two more. Scott walker. What about him question that i interviewed him again on saturday night
