Representative, spoke with a group of volunteers supporting his campaign, and delivered brief remarks. This is 20 minutes. [indiscernible conversations] ill tell you what, man. You guys have done one heck of a job. In addition to that [indiscernible]. [cheer and applause] the number they gave me are almost hard to believe. Sounding. Tell us the numbers. Youve got people knocking on 250,000 doors. So far. Youve gotten more volunteers, more people engaged. It feel out there . Its great. For real. Ill tell you what. Youre doing more of your civic duty. Theres a lot at stake here. She gave me a passport to come into the district. [laughter] i spoke to the congresswoman before i came in. [inaudible] ill tell you what, man. Look, i will say a few things for the press and a little bit. But the fact of the matter is, this president s chief of staff, they have given up. This president and chief of staff, they have given up. All these super spreaders going on. I wish i could shake each one of your hands and thank you personally, but ill tell you what, as my grandfather said, [indiscernible] [laughter] maybe we can get together in washington and the not so distant future. As long as you are in charge. I feel good. Its not over until its over. We got a run through the tape and finish it. I am kind of superstitious anything, whether you run or anything, it is not over until the whistle blows. Im heading to georgia tomorrow. [indiscernible] im heading to georgia tomorrow. Then wisconsin, iowa, we are making the rounds. It just feels good. Is there anything you want to ako say . Ay we are so happy to have you here. We know we need you in the white house and we cant wait for that to happen. Ireland, went to [inaudible] i kept saying to the president , every time the Prime Minister would come, i would have him add to i home for breakfast and then we would go to the white house. Said, why day, they dont you come to ireland . Expression they say, it is a land of 100,000 welcomes. I cant pronounce it. I had to go back on business, and we went and spent five days going through island. And they did a whole genealogy of my family. I dont want to hurt her reputation, but i think we are related. [laughter] i dont know where your family hails from. A little further north. Where . Watertown, new york. I know watertown well. Watertown is a place where, when i was in law school, they had 61 inches of snow. Can you believe it . Anything you want to ask me . Do you need a ride back to wilmington . [laughter] is that where youre from . Yes. What is your name . Becky. How are you . Im fine. Im from north wilmington. Yeah, mayfield. [indiscernible] all right. How about you, what is your name . Sophia. How old are you . 18. Well thank you for helping. Thats very nice of you. Whats your name . My name is tristan. Im beverly. We really got it going. I tell you what [indiscernible] whenever trump comes out and says [indiscernible] you guys did ebola and we did not have a pandemic. With h1n1, it was. Indiscernible] no panic, no any of that. But you know, we did. I just want you all to know this. Brock, barack, i know you saw him in philly, but he is a good friend. But the point is, the Infectious Disease experts said look, this is what will happen as we move forward. There is a lot more Communicable Diseases transmitted that walls can stop, that you can build a wall high enough, and pandemics are going to be caused. We set up an office in the president s office the white house, a pandemic office. When we did that, we hired people around the world, experts from the cdc and other areas of the federal government. Particularly in other countries so you could see it coming. We had 34 people in china. In china. And to the best of our knowledge, trump never asked them to go into wuhan to see how bad the situation was. And remember, he was praising the president of china, xi. He was saying we owe him a great debt of gratitude and he was transparent in all of this stuff. [indiscernible] we will be covid, but youve got to be prepared to deal with future pandemics. Thats why we had the forwardbased thinking. Its not just enough to beat in the United States, you have to go beyond that. Reporters and people are trying to make a history with court packing. We point out that the republicans have already packed the lower courts and are already doing that . [indiscernible] well, i tell you what by the way, i think the press asks legitimate questions. What im going to do, because of your hard work, if i am elected, we will set up a commission. It will be a commission of a constitutional scholar, liberal scholars, conservative scholars, and mainstream scholars. We will have them do an analysis of what, if any, changes should how long you stay nothe courts, whether or theres an example [indiscernible] there are all kinds of things. Heres what i think we have to do. Im not a big fan of court packing. Im not a big fan of saying that we are going to add x number. But we listened to all ideas, because it has become a serious question in the middle of the 21st century. A lot of scholars are considering alternatives to how we presently proceed. And i asked them to report back to me as soon as we are elected in 180 days, and we will decide whether to do anything. More questions, you are a pain in the neck. This guy. [laughter] but here is the deal. One of the things thats that t is [shouting] [applause] thank you. Thank you. Folks, how are you . Representative, thanks for letting me be here. I want to thank you very much. Look, yesterday, the white house chief of staff mark meadows went on television to admit to the country that the administration wasnt even trying anymore to deal with the pandemic. He said, and i quote, we are not going to control the pandemic. The Washington Post headline today says white house gives up on trying to slow virus spread. No caveats. Just a deadly admission. Earlier in this pandemic, trump called himself a wartime president , fighting a war against an invisible enemy. Ive been saying for months, as you well know, that he waved the white flag all the way back then. He wasnt doing much at all. Some people said i was being harsh, that i was being unfair. The white house is coming out right now and admitting what i said months ago was absolutely true. Look at how many people are dead. 220,000. It is expected as many as another 200,000 could die between now and the end of the year. And he said, we are not going to control it. Not going to control it. The bottom line is, donald trump is the worst possible president , the worst possible person to try to lead us through this pandemic. He either doesnt have any idea what to do or he just doesnt care. On friday, dr. Tony fauci, the nations most respected Infectious Disease expert, publicly acknowledge that the president has not met with his covid team for months. Even worse, saturday, donald trump said the covid19 count wasnt really going up. Everything was leveling out. He suggested the doctors were inflating the numbers. Catch this, because doctors get more money. What the hell is the matter with this man . Thousands of doctors and nurses have given their lives trying to save lives, and he says the reason they are talking about testing is that they want to make more money. Mr. President , more than 1000 healthcare workers lost their lives fighting covid. Doctors, nurses. They are not profiting. They are dying. You remember, during the debates, if you want to call it that, during the debate, trump said that we are learning to live with this covid. No. Hes asking us to learn to die with it. Folks, this has got to end. We can in fact end this crisis. If he would only get together with the house and senate and work out a compromise on the spending bills out there, in order to deal with everything like the safe way open schools. It will cost 200 billion to do it, but it is worth doing it. We can lower class sizes, more teachers, ventilation, ppe, masks, gloves, sanitation. The businesses to be able to open, if we provided the help we said we would do. There is so much more to do. Testing and tracing. We should be pouring billions of dollars into determining how we get rapid testing, so that you know, within hours, whether or not the test is negative or positive. Many places you have to wait sometimes up to six days or seven days. Hes not doing what needs to be done. And look, folks, i promise you this, i am never going to give up. You know, mr. President , you have to have a little bit of shame, just a little bit of shame, because people are dying. Point i want to make it, and i want to say clearly. More people are going to die. As many as 200,000 is suggested by some. As pointed out, if we just wore a mask, kept social distancing, got tested, we can save between now and the end of the year over 100,000 american lives. Im not can give up. I dont know what we will the we arejanuary 21st. Not going to give up. At the rate hes going, its not going to be good. By the way, i am happy to take some questions from the press. But let me make it clear, im not shutting down oil fields, and im not eliminating fracking. Im investing in clean energy, and we will make sure that we dont continue to subsidize the old companies. Heres the estimates, they get somewhere between 25 billion and 40 billion in subsidies. That money should go in to doing a lot of other good things. With that, yes sir. You have a relatively light public schedule the last few days. Can you give us a sense of how how much you will be traveling in the next few days . I told you where i would be traveling. By the way, i traveled the last few days. [indiscernible] im going i will, wisconsin, georgia, florida, and maybe other places as well. Theres a lot weve been doing as well in terms of being online and everything from Fundraising Efforts to making sure i met today with a group of leaders in the democratic party, laying out where we will go, getting their input and likes. There has not been a day that hasnt been a 12 hour day yet. [indiscernible] look, you know me. I am not overconfident about anything. I just want to make sure we can earn every vote possible. That is why we are here. And you know that the blue wall will have to be established. By the grace of god, i will win pennsylvania. The average contribution of 49, we are able to compete. The reason it looks like we are not traveling as we are not putting on super spreaders. We are doing what we are doing here. Everyone is wearing a mask and doing the best we can to be socially distant. Its important to be responsible. That part ofned your commission, you would look at how long justices could serve on the court. Are you open to term limits . There is a question about whether or not im not going to change that at all. Not just staying the whole time on the Supreme Court but i make no judgment. They are just a group of serious scholars that have a number of ideas on how we should proceed from this point. Thats what we will be doing. We will give them 180 days, god willing if am elected, from this from the time im sworn in, to make such a recommendation. Reaction to President Trump planning an outdoor event outside the white house tonight . You know, if you have raised, and you were all parents are taught that the example you set impacts how your kids react. When youre the boss of an operation, the example you set matters to the rest of the company. The words of a president and the actions of a president they matter. They matter a great deal. And when the president of the United States puts on these super spreader events, you saw what happened when she was announced. All the people, including his family, thank god they seem to be ok. All people came down with covid. Im just hoping that he can learn a lesson. I dont blame him for celebrating. There are lots of things we could be doing. Having massive crowds but the fact is it is just not , appropriate now. I hope he and the Vice President and others act with some dispatch and do what everybody knows. People should be tested first before they even show up. Number two, they should be wearing masks. Number three, they should be socially distanced. Number four, it should not be a huge crowd, whether it is outside or not. Thank you all very much. [applause] we are going to unload. [indiscernible conversations] [indiscernible conversations] dont jump, i need you. Thank you.
