Pence delivers remarks in wisconsin. Include ron johnson and anthony scalia. It is about 45 minutes. Ited states is here, so good morning. All right, fantastic. As i said earlier, thanks for being here today and i want to thank kurt our for his remarks earlier. We are grateful today to honor the workforce and workers across the United States and im proud of thei am part dairyland family and want to recognize the team and their families that sacrifice every day to keep the lights on and industry operating 24 hours, seven days a week. Our next speaker is United States senator ron johnson. It is my honor to introduce him. He was elected in 2010 and reelected in 2016. Senator johnson is a graduate of the university of minnesota. He started a manufacturing wisconsin. He is chairman of the Homeland SecurityGovernment Affairs committee. He also serves on the budget Foreign Relations and commerce finance and transportation committees. Please welcome senator ron johnson and thank you for all the work he does for the citizens of wisconsin. [applause] sen. Johnson thank you. Thank you for hosting this event. On such a gloriously beautiful wisconsin day. I am here first of all to say thank you to be Vice President for coming here again. He is almost an honorary member. He and President Trump have been to wisconsin so often because we love the state, we are concerned about our citizens, and they want to make sure they can do everything they can to recharge our economy, and repower it. The Vice President has done such a great job in the task force. I am hearing the briefings, i am hearing the difficult situation he is trying to manage. For example, the ppe equipment, the things everyone wants, the demand was two to three times greater than what the supply was. The Vice President working with other great manufacturers around the country getting that ppe and making available in an organized fashion so nobody ran out. I think he has done a great job. Unfortunately the Mainstream Media has not given them the kind of credit they deserve for managing a very difficult situation. But i really appreciate the great job the Vice President has done. My other role here is to introduce really a great secretary of labor. You know his father as the towering, powerful and wonderful Supreme CourtJustice Antonin Scalia a. His son is brilliant and well and he has done a great job in a short period of time, also managing the loss up of unemployment benefits, so we provided in the cares act for people who lost their jobs. Again, this administration has done a great job caring for people. Being concerned about those individuals that lost their jobs and helping fund the ppp program recover fromesses this terrible situation. And secretary Eugene Scalia has done a great job of our department of labor secretary. So please welcome Eugene Scalia. [applause] sec. Scalia thank you all. Thank you for the introduction. Thank you for the great work you do for the people of wisconsin in the senate and thank you for being to the senate the experience of somebody he was actually created jobs, which is basic common sense and insight that we so need in washington dc. It is my pleasure to say to all of you as your u. S. Secretary of labor, happy labor day. It is wonderful to be with you. [applause] labor day is actually one of our Oldest National holidays along with christmas, president s day, memorial day, and the fourth of july. And that is because American Workers built this country alongside our great president s, together with our faith in god and this nation of spouting ideals and with the support of the brave men and women who have given their lives for this country. And this year 2020 we have asked a lot of americas workers. And they have done amazing things. Saving lives in hospitals, supply ing our food factories across the country, turning on a dime to produce countless ppe, masks, ventilators, and now progress we are making towards a vaccine. And it is my pleasure to be here to thank all of you here at the Power Cooperative for what you did day in and day out throughout this crisis to keep the lights on and to keep wisconsin powered and keep this great nation powered during this time. So, thank you. [applause] this year began so well for American Workers. Unemployment, the lowest unemployment we had seen in 50 years. We have rising wages across the country. We had wages that were rising especially for lower wage workers. That is why the president and his state of the union said there was a bluecollar boom, and it really was. It was an amazing time. In a great time for American Workers. But the coronavirus definitely challenged this country in a lot of ways. Including onthejob. That is part of the reason i was so pleased friday to be able to release our jobs report the month of august, which was very strong report. It showed in august we created another 1. 4 one million jobs across the country. One million jobs added back just since may. And unemployment dropped almost two full points to 8. 4 unemployment. That number is higher than we want it. We need to bring it down. But let me to you what an achievement it is to get it down to that just four months into the pandemic. And thee last president last demonstration it took us nearly three years, 34 months to get unemployment under 8. 5 . We got it to 8. 4 in just four months. We have work to do. The president is very focused on adding additional jobs back and also helping those who are unemployed. That is why, together with the support senator johnson did with programs like the Paycheck Protection Program, when congress could not get back together to extend on women benefits back in july, the president established a program through fema to divide supplemental wage payments to people who are still out of work. I am grateful for where we are now for workers. I think the president for the decisions he has made going all the way back to january and march and through now to support our workers, to put people to work. Fori also am thankful someone who has been alongside him every step of the way, supporting the president , supporting American Workers, supporting the American People, and that of course is our Vice President. So again, thank you for having me here today. It is great to join you. Thank you for all you have done for wisconsin and the country these past few months, and have a great labor day. [applause] thank you secretary scalia and senator johnson. What great remarks. It is now my pleasure to introduce the Vice President of the United States. Today we welcome the 48th and current Vice President of. He is a native of indiana where he graduated from the Indiana University school of law. After graduating, Vice President pence practiced law of the indiana policy review foundation. In 2000, he lost a successful bid for a congressional seat in indiana and was reelected six times to congress. Elected to the position of governor of indiana in 2016, President Trump selected mike pence as his running mate. On januaryd office 20, 2017. Please join me in giving Vice President mike pence a great dairyland and la crosse welcome. [applause] vp pence well hello, wisconsin. It is great to be with all of you on a Great American holiday. Secretary jean scalia, our great friend, senator ron johnson. [applause] to all of our fellow americans from near and far, all across the badger state. It is great to be with you here in la crosse. And i cannot think of a better place to be on an american holiday where we celebrate americas tradition of hard work and the american dream. For 79 years you have in keeping the lights on here in wisconsin. So to all of the men and women here and every American Worker all across wisconsin, happy labor day. [applause] and you can grab a seat if you have got one. You know, before i go any further, allow me to pay greetings from another friend of mine. Who loves the badger state. Who i think is the best friend American Workers have ever had, sitting in the oval office at the white house. When i told him this morning that i was headed to la crosse, i think he sounded just a little bit jealous. So allow me to bring greetings from a friend of this state and a friend of American Workers, i bring greetings from the 45th president of the United States of america, President Donald Trump. [applause] you know, i am here because i stand with President Donald Trump. This president stands up for faith and family, and for the american flag. I stand with President Donald Trump. When this president stands up to the radical left and their socialist agenda, i stand with President Donald Trump. And when this president stands up every day and fights for American Workers and jobs, jobs, with President Donald Trump. Four years ago, a movement was born. A movement of Everyday Americans from every walk of life. And look how far weve come. Four years ago, we inherited a military hollowed out by devastating budget cuts, an economy struggling to break out of the slowest recovery since the great depression. Terrorism was on the rise around an world, and we witnessed assault on our most cherished values, their freedom of religion and are right your life. But in our first three years, what a difference the discussion wisconsin made decision wisconsin made, made. We are once again giving our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marine, coast guard, and our veterans the resources and support that they deserve, every single day. We revived our economy by cutting taxes across the board, rolling back federal red tape, unleashing American Energy, and fighting for free and fair trade. We appointed judges to uphold all of our godgiven liberties, including the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. [applause] proud to bebe more Vice President to a president who has stood without apology for the sanctity of human life,. The freedom of religion of every american of every faith. And beyond all of that, throughout all of the last 2. 5 years, this5 president and this administration have stood with the men and women of Law Enforcement, and we will stand with them every day. [applause] President Trump and i know that the men and women who serve in Law Enforcement are the best of us. They put their lives on the line every single day. They literally count our lives as more important than their own. And they deserve the respect of every american. Now, to be clear, any incident involving the police use of force will always be thoroughly investigated. But theres no excuse for the rioting and looting that we have seen in kenosha and in cities across the country, and this violence against civilians, against property, and against Law Enforcement must stop, and it must stop now. [applause] President Trump and i will always support the right of americans to peaceful protest. But rioting and looting is not peaceful protests. Burning businesses is not free speech. And those who do so will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. That is why President Trump took action just a few days ago. We sent 200 federal Law Enforcement officers into kenosha. Working with the National Guard and local Law Enforcement, we quelled the violence. To this president , i promise you, we will have law and order in every city in this country for every american of every race and creed and color, so help us god. [applause] months, all joe biden talked about was peaceful protesters. As the American People watched businesses and communities in our major cities burn. And last week, joe biden, after three months of silence, spoke out against violence and every form it takes. But right after he said that, he criticized Law Enforcement. And joe biden never condemned antifa. He never called out his Campaign Staff is running mate for raising money for bailout violent criminals. And he never called on immigrant mayors to get their cities under control. I think the people here in wisconsin, joe biden would double down on the policies that have literally led to violence in our major american cities. Joe biden says america is systemically racist. And that Law Enforcement has an implicit bias against minorities. Sked whether he would support cutting funding to Law Enforcement, joe biden replied, yes, absolutely. But under president donald will, i promise you, we always stand with those who serve on the thin blue line of Law Enforcement. We are not going to defund the police. Not now, not ever. [applause] President Trump and i know what you all in wisconsin know. We do not have to choose between supporting Law Enforcement and standing with our African American neighbors and families to improve the quality of their lives, to improve public safety, create more jobs and better schools. From the first day of this administration, we have done both. And i promise you, we are going to keep supporting Law Enforcement and keep supporting our African American neighbors and all of the minorities in every community in this city every day from here to come. [applause] years, with the support of the people of wisconsin, we rebuilt our military, we revived our economy, we stood for our liberties and for law order. And the result, i can tell you, having traveled to more than 30 countries as youre Vice President , america is respected in the world again. At home, our godgiven liberties are more secure today. And in our first three years, there are only three ways you can describe those years. It was jobs, jobs, jobs, right here in wisconsin and all across america. True. [applause] with less taxes, less religion, more American Energy less regulation, more American Energy, more american businesses, large and small across the country, created with the seven million good paying jobs in just three years. On this labor day it is great or memo that wages were rising. It is great to remember that wages were rising. Proud that inore those first three years, wages rose most rapidly for hardworking bluecollar men ands, the forgotten women of america are forgotten no more. [applause] president sis policies, manufacturing has come roaring back. When joe biden was Vice President , america lost 200,000 manufacturing jobs. And the last president actually said those jobs would never come back. You remember . It was the summer four years ago, 2016. The president back then wondered aloud how you could ever bring manufacturing back to the hartline heartland. He said quote, what magic wand do you have . Well, we did not need a magic wand. We just needed President Donald Trump in the white house. 500,000 manufacturing jobs in just three years. [applause] that, the lowest on employment rate ever recorded for African Americans and hispanic americans. At the end of our first three years, more americans were working than ever before. And let me just say within present here today, none of that would have been possible without strong and principled support of senator ron johnson. Wisconsin, would you join me . Get on your feet and show how much you appreciate a man who hasnt fighting for wisconsin values who has been fighting for wisconsin values and fighting for wisconsin jobs. Thank you, senator. [applause] with our strong allies in the wegress like you, sir, created the greatest economy in the world in three short years. We made America Great again. And then, the coronavirus struck from china. People love wisconsin deserve to know that people of wisconsin deserve to know that before the first case of Coronavirus Spread from persontoperson within the United States, President Trump took the unprecedented step of suspending all travel from china before the month of january was out. Having ledell you, the White House Coronavirus task saved that action alone untold american lives, and bought us invaluable time to stand up the greatest National Mobilization since world war ii. Its true. Wethe president s direction, we marched the full resources of the American Government and the american economy. We partnered with private industry to reinvent testing. When i took over the task force in late february, we had done more done none more than 8000 tests total nationwide for the coronavirus. Today with American Ingenuity and high relief, we perform more than 800,000 coronavirus tests a day. We work with private industry to arrange for the production and delivery of billions of supplies of personal protective equipment to our great doctors and nurses and hospitals all across america. We saw to the delivery of those supplies at the point of the need in one city after another, where the impact was the greatest, where the challenge was the greatest. And i will tell you here in wisconsin and all across america, every american should be grateful for our doctors, our nurses and our Health Care Workers and our first responders, who have reason to be challenged in this hour of our trial. [applause] now, our hearts go out to all the families who have lost loved ones during the course of this pandemic, including more than 1000 families here in wisconsin. I want to say to each and every one of them, you have always been in our hearts, and you will remain in our prayers. But were going to continue to move forward. Continue to develop edison each and every day that are saving lives across the country. More therapeutics are becoming available each and every day. And i promise you, we are not going to rest. We are not going to rest until we have a safe and effective Coronavirus Vaccine for the American People. And we put this virus in the past. [applause] it is amazing to think with operation warp speed, the president initiated a project where, believe it or not, we have several vaccines that are already in the final stages of clinical trials. But we are not waiting until they are approved to produce the vaccines. At the president s direction, we are actually manufacturing vaccines even as we speak, so that the moment that the fda says that we have a safe and effective Coronavirus Vaccine, we will have tens of millions of doses available for the American People. I have to tell you, joe said not long ago joe biden said not long ago that no miracle is coming. But here in america, were in the miracle business, and we are going to have a safe and effective vaccine for the coronavirus for the end of this year before the end of this year. [applause] so we are slowing the spread, we are protecting the vulnerable, and we are saving lives. Each of us has a role to play. But in the midst of this pandemic, our president also worked with leaders in both parties in congress and was senator johnson, in particular, to secure support for American Families and for american businesses. It is amazing to think we were able to secure nearly 4 trillion in support to American Families and enterprises. The Paycheck Protection Program alone is estimated to have saved some 50 million american jobs. But i promise you, w wisconsin, we are going to continue to put the health of america first. Because a Strong FoundationPresident Trump poured in those first three years and because of the unprecedented aid we secured for families and businesses, after losing 22 million jobs at the height of the pandemic, we have already seen more than 10. 6 americans go back to work already. The american comeback has begun. [applause] in the last four months alone, we have literally seen half of the americans that lost their jobs go back to work. And that includes 200,000 americans right here in the state of wisconsin. So we are opening up america again, and were opening up americas schools. [applause] just last week, we spoke to educators around the country, leaders of colleges and universities around america, to make sure they had the support and guidance to be able to safely reopen their schools. People all across the country are working to safely reopen our schools. I am proud to report to you that the School Teacher i had been married to for the past 35 years is already back in the classroom teaching art in her elementary school. But i want to say thank you. I want to say thank you particularly to the dairyland employees who leaned into this effort to get our schools back open. On the plane here, i learned a lot of you volunteer here at an area school to build plexiglas barriers and remove furniture to make our classroom safer arcades. Thank you for being there for our kids and our teachers and our schools. Great job. Great job, dairyland. [applause] so we have gone through a time of testing. But we are coming through it together. And hardworking people of wisconsin deserve to know, as we go through this time of testing, we are coming to a time of choosing, and the choice has never been more clear. Its amazing to think that in the middle of a global pandemic, joe biden wants to raise taxes by 4 trillion. Part not trump for our only cut taxes for working families and businesses large and small, but as we speak, were letting the American People keep more of what they earn. And i promise you, we are going to keep fighting for tax relief for working americans every day. [applause] where President Trump more laws covering cutting federal redtape and more president and any american history, joe biden wants to cover the economy under an avalanche of redtape, like his own version of the green new deal. And here in dairyland power, you deserve to know. Joe biden and the radical left want to crush American Energy, and American Energy jobs. Their climateass change agenda, cap and trade that would raise the cost of electricity for nearly every household and business in wisconsin. President trump for his part unleashed American Energy, and all of the above energy strategy. As we stand here today, the United States is now a net exporter of energy for the first time in 70 years. We are energy independent. [applause] and when it comes to free and fair trade here in the heartland, we all remember now. Over in the Hoosier State after nafta was signed into law back in 1995, we saw entire communities shutters. And literally in the years since, 60,000 factories close across the United States, and many of those jobs moved south of the border and overseas. But i saw this president work to keep promises he made to the citizens of wisconsin. He said we can do better than that. We can fight for the kind of free and fair trade that put american jobs and workers first. He drove a hard bargain. And i am here to tell you the usnca is a win for wisconsin workers and a win for wisconsin farmers. [applause] under the u. S. Mexico canada agreement, now canada is also ending its unfair treatment of our dairy farmers. So important here in wisconsin. The usmca is expected to increase our dairy exports by more than 300 million in the next year. That is a win for wisconsin. [applause] experts also tell us the usmca overall will create about 600,000 new jobs just right out of the gate, including 50,000 manufacturing jobs. You know, i heard that joe bidens running mate is in milwaukee today. Dairy farmers in wisconsin deserve to know that senator Kamala Harris is one of only 10 senators to vote against the usmca. She said it did not go far enough on climate change. Youhere at dairyland power, deserve to know, senator harris put their radical environmental agenda ahead of wisconsin dairy, and ahead of wisconsin power. But under President Donald Trump, we will always put wisconsin farmers, wisconsin businesses, and wisconsin families first. [applause] trumpso president leadership, nafta is yesterday and the usmca is here to stay. Beyond trade with our neighbors, this president also stood strong. Stood strong with regard to china from day one. President trump made it clear that the era of economic surrender is over. When we took office, literally half of our International Trade deficit was with china. And President Trump acted. We imposed strong tariffs on china, we took action to end steel dumping that was hollowing out our Steel Industry and manufacturing industry. And every single day, we continue to stand firm, demanding that china, demanding that china open up their markets, respect American Private property, and play by the international rules. Joe biden, hes been a cheerleader for communist china. He actually wants to repeal all the tariffs that are leveling the Playing Field for American Workers. And recently, he actually criticized President Trump for suspending all travel to china at the outset of the pandemic. So i will make you a promise. Whatever the other side wants to say or do, President Donald Trump and i are going to keep standing strong for American Workers and american jobs until china comes to the table, lowers trade barriers, respects american property, and levels the Playing Field. [applause] because when the Playing Field is level, American Workers can compete and win against any workers, anywhere in the world. [applause] finally, on this labor day, as we think about labor, think about the cost of labor, it is one of the reasons why President Trump has made record investments in border security. As we stand here today, this president has already overseen the construction of more than 300 miles of a border wall on our southern border, and we had been enforcing our immigration laws all across america. [applause] is that illegal immigration drives wages down. People know that. One of the reasons people of wisconsin ought to be concerned, joe biden is for open borders, sanctuary cities, Free Health Care for illegal immigrants, that will continue to bring lowcost labor into our cities and our towns, undermining the wages of American Workers. But in addition to enforcing our immigration laws and Standing Firm to the conviction that a nation without borders is not a nation, President Trump has also launched what we call a pledge to americas workers. Were encouraging businesses in every field to expand training opportunities for American Workers, and it has already led to 16 million training and apprentice opportunities for American Workers all across the country. That is why we call [applause] so we stood strong. Safer,d strong for a more prosperous america. We have stood firm. Make sure that those who are meeting the needs of families that are challenged in the midst of this pandemic have the support and the resources to have declared every one of us would want their family to have. We have stood up for our values, stood up for American Families. And on this labor day, American Workers can be confident, you have a champion in President Donald Trump. President donald trump, i can tell you firsthand, having served with him every day over the last 3. 5 years, hes the real deal. A man who says what he means, means what he says. Never backs down. And i can tell you, he has never stopped fighting for the working people of wisconsin. But for all that we accomplished in those first three years, for all we have done to see our nation through this time as america has begun to stand up again, go back to work and back to school, that is just what President Trump calls a good start. And i promise you, i promise you that we are never going to stop fighting for working people all across wisconsin and all across america until we bring this state and this nation back bigger and better than ever before. [applause] so thank you for the warm reception today. And i am very thankful it is not that warm today. Its a Beautiful Day in wisconsin. Good to be with all of the. More importantly, thank you for what all the hardworking families gathered here and those who might be looking on do for this country every day. And President Trump and i believe that all honest work is honorable. Its really been the people that make things, who grow things, who work with their hands, with the sweat of their brow, in the factory or the field, that made this country what it is today. It has been the hard work and the strength of working americans, men and women like all of you here, people who believe in faith, family, patriotism, and hard work. Equally people who believe in the american dream, that have always and will always be the backbone of this country. So on this labor day, 2020, i encourage you to keep pressing on. Keep showing the strength and the faith, and the resilience that working people have always shown in the life of this nation. Id keep standing with us, and promise you, we will keep standing with you. [applause] we finally have faith. That faith and strength and resilience of the American People. The ability of hardworking americans to see our nation through this challenging time and come all the way back, and then some. And have faith that even in these challenging times, those ancient words that americans have clung to throughout the generations are still true today. They are above the mantle in our home. There they have been for more than 20 years. From the book of jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 11. Have faith, as he said. I know the plans i have for you. Plans to prosper you, not to harm you. Plans to give you a home and a future. America,e belongs to and to hardworking americans. Thisur hope is in him, in one nation under god, with liberty and justice for all. [applause] so with faith in all of you and faith in him, i leave here today with renewed confidence. Were going to make wisconsin and america stronger and more prosperous than ever before. N President Donald Trump with President Trump in the white house, with great leaders like senator ron johnson serving wisconsin, and may be future orton, like derek van finding his way into public life. [applause] with your continued support, and with gods help. On this labor day, i just know were going to make America Great again, again. Thank you all very much. God bless you. God bless wisconsin. And god bless america. Happy labor day.
