Thanks to the founders of the center, president jerry falwell, jr. And charlie kirk. That is the math. We are waiting a little bit. We have tom cotton coming up momentarily. We have a traffic grid issue. He will be with us momentarily. Up. Nted to tee steve bannon has always emphasized action. We have four tremendous speeches coming out of the government, attorney general barr, Vice President pence, secretary of state mike pompeo. I wanted to get steves perspective. It is remarkable to me. Cnn, the left media is not covering china. Why is that . It goes against their narrative and the Mainstream Media as been one of the social aspects of this decline of the judeochristian west, particularly in the United States. This story has been in peoples faces for so long. Let me give you a very specific aspect of it. On the third week of january of 2017, there were two speeches given. What was in doubles at the World Economic forum. Gen z president xi. This is the Top Hedge Fund vendors, Top Investment advisors , banks, investment banks, law firms, communications and Mainstream Media. She talked about the biggest problem in the world was rising populism and economic nationalism and that globalization was the future. It had done so well. , whateverpeople aspect whether it is investment, law, they are in the information business. This is the 21st centurys dominant business. They knew the concentration s. Mps of the uigur they knew about the suppression of the catholic church. Organnew about harvesting, the Tiananmen Square movement. They knew about all of it and it did not matter. Donald trump three days later gives what is known as the american curried speech. He goes through a litany of the elite and what they have not done. Action. S the hour of he was a descriptor to that system. Defend trump. And he was a defense of the nationstate and how it sovereignty and a collection of alliance of liberty of sovereign nations will defeat this. The Mainstream Media is saying what a visionary xi is. He understands globalization and they see trump from the deplorables, etc. At the Mainstream Media as been inextricably linked and here is the reason. It is the reason American Finance englobal corporations, it is part of the business model. They are business partners. When pompeo gave that speech and library, Nixon Richard nixon said after 30 or 40 years, have we created a frankenstein monster, our capital him our technology . I am glad you brought up the Freedom Alliance. It is amazing. India, europe, u. K. , brazil, take us around the world and let us know what the mainstream is refusing to cover. They are refusing to cover the world. We need an awakening. We need an awakening of the American People about what the facts are. When you get the facts out as it action center, people will naturally come to your side. This is about this alliance of liberty from india, the Worlds Largest democracy to australia, japan, taiwan, the people in hong kong. Obviously the United States is the leader of the free nations. Hms the british, deploying between elizabeth with an entire carrier battle group. What you are seeing on the eurasian landmass are the totalitarian dictatorships led by the communist parties led by korea, eaders, north pakistan, turkey, and russia and the west, that is why you venezuela. They are trying to consolidate the european landmass dry the lines of liberty offered to the periphery, controlled the asian landmass in a totalitarian dictatorship. When they had this vote about hong kong, our great allies, the saudis and uae voted with the chinese. You saw those 53 votes. Very limited democracy if at all. Ispeo was so powerful it interviewing fox last week. The Chinese People understand they have inalienable rights. I am looking forward to tom cotton. If you are ready, come on out. I came here for the tom cotton talk. How are we doing . We are already. Good. He is he is miced this is our kickoff session for the panel this afternoon. We cannot wait for you. Go out to the fulcher center on facebook for the agenda to see what is coming. It is my pleasure to introduce you to one of my personal friends and heroes and the u. S. Senate. She served our country in the military for years. He has got an intellect at harvard law. The great figures that emerge in history that rise to leadership positions have a strong firm moral backbone and center. I amis the key to the man about to interview, senator tom cotton. It is an honor to have you with us. Thank you for being with us. Thank you. I am sorry for being a few minutes late. Thank you for being patient. Steve bannon to the war room pandemic show prior. One of the centerpieces of this event is trying to get leaders positions, this is an action conference. Virus you phrase how the from china made its way here . Was there active intent . Where are you at on these days. . China unleash this plague on the world. It was typical of the Chinese Party. It was negligence. Come from the earliest days of not seeking the cause of the outbreak of an , notwn pneumonia in wuhan listening to local authorities, and having created a system that discouraged local authorities to be honest. The malevolence started when they actively began to suppress the reporting. They visited some of the doctors who were blowing the whistle on this virus in the middle of the ht and refused of course, they to early. You have the World Health Organization. Y continue to allow refused to allow International Scientists into wuhan. They began to intimidate taiwan and the World Health Organization from sharing some of taiwans early lessons. Taiwan has kindled this virus better than any other land in the world. Then they continued to lie about the severity of it. They even allowed air travel to continue from trying it to the rest of the world, which had the effect of ceding cases in places like italy or new york, which unleashed at the pandemic on the world. In my opinion, there is no doubt the Chinese Communist party is responsible for turning what could have been a bad local Health Challenge into the worst pandemic in the last century. Thank you, thank you. You have been following china, in terms of u. S. Strategic interest for years. But there has been reluctance from the Political Leadership on both sides of the aisle to want to engage. Just on simple inspection. If you say the premise is either through negligence or intent, china did send it. They shut down airports in wuhan, going to beijing, but they allowed 400,000 flights out to milan, new york, and san francisco. J there is some level of intent there is some level of intent period. Millions of americans out of jobs, Small Businesses shut down, bankruptcies. All of that flows logically from the virus. Half a year ago, we were watching football and kids were going to school. It goes beyond the u. S. , it is global damage. How do you assess the total damage done . How are we going to hold china accountable for that damage . Ones, had loved ones fall ill, lost their jobs, had their savings damaged, their schools have been closed. There is really no one in our country, may be no one around the world, that has not suffered because the Chinese Communist party was so deeply indifferent to human life. Not just our lives, but their own citizens. The Chinese People were the first victims. Too cynicalis to suggest using pink xi jinping would do this to the world. I would respond the Chinese Communist party has killed 60 million of their own people. If you dont think they would sacrifice a few hundred lives of foreigners to maintain their relative power in the world to make sure they are not the only one who suffered a virus induced recession, you are being very naive. They should be held accountable for it. There are some ways to hold them directly accountable. Ive introduced legislation, the administration has taken similar action to sanction officials who have lied about the virus, or who do so in the future. I introduced legislation to a few of my colleagues that would amend the foreign sovereign communities act to allow americans to sue chinese officials responsible on inflicting this harm on them. There may be a couple of exceptions to the doctrine of sovereign immunity under the current law, but why beat around the bush . Lets just say clearly that what we did for the 9 11 victims, we should do for the victims of this virus, as well. There are a couple of ways to make the Chinese Communist party pay directly. There is a host of things we can do to make them pay indirectly, things we probably should have done a long time ago. But this virus has really opened the eyes of so Many Americans who need to do those things. For instance, over the last 30 years, especially the last 20 years, as Congress Gave china permanent most favored nation status, and china into the world trade organization, we have lost millions of manufacturing jobs. Some of those jobs are in critical industries. Not childrens toys or lawn furniture, things we have learned, medical equipment. Pharmaceuticals, hightech, telecom. We have to get the manufacturing out of china for those critical goods. I think most americans were shocked when they learned earlier this year how dependent we are on china for lifesaving items. So ive introduced legislation that would provide the incentives necessary to get manufacturing jobs back in the u. S. Accelerated tax subsidies, direct support through states, things like the semiconductor industry. Assuredroviding an source of demand for pharmaceuticals. The department of defense, v. A. , medicare and medicaid, they buy a lot of drugs. Then you say they cant by any made in china, that means we are going to have the domestic manufacturing capacity we need, and we are only going to trade in the critical goods with our partners. Countries like japan, denmark, or austria that are already sources for those imports. Theres other things we can do. We need to continue the rebuild of our military the president launched three years ago to deter china from ever thinking they should take a shot at the u. S. Or our allies and partners in the western pacific we need to crack down on what happening on our college campuses, where china has seeded campuses with confucius institutes, little more than a propaganda outfit at best, or espionage centers at worst. A crackdown on the practice of supporting american researchers covertly at college campuses, often as a way to get them obliged to support the Chinese Communist party through their research. Things like the thousand Talents Program and other programs. Its kind of a scandal that its not illegal itself. People who get charged with these crimes are charged with failure to disclose it, because they get department of defense, or department of energy grants. An engineering professor in arkansas a couple of months ago faced these charges. We should make them an actual practice of being funded by the Chinese Communist party, or supported, illegal itself. There are not direct ways to make them responsible for the virus, but they are so integral in the way they have built their economy to compete with ours to take our jobs, that we will feel that pain serially severely. I have a few questions. You just brought up higher ed. At libertyty i am university. We are dedicated to faith and freedom. Those are the biggest, no confucius aspects here. You spent time at harvard. For me, its amazing how the just i know the answer will be money, but how have they chosen to bypass all economic logic . What mba school said you put all of your supply chains the first thing you learn at finance class is diversify. How did we get to this point . How did we just ignore the monopolies that have arisen in the Information Space that can be used by china . Facebook, google, and all of these . Twitter and all this . How in the world have is it a matter of selfinterest and our firms have been watching the shortterm economics . I think they are going back 30 years to the aftermath of the Tiananmen Square massacre. We made the mistake of largely overlooking that massacre. There were some modest steps taken, but i think it was a wasnt as the soviet union crumbling that the Chinese Communist party showed its true faith. It is still a communist country. Ping doesnt stay up all night reading marks, but it has the hallmarks of a communist country. It has one party governments, that party is authoritarian, it denies the free flow of capital goods, it is a state directed economy, a statesupported economy, it brutally represses christians and other religious minorities. It is now violating International Commitments almost on a weekly basis, whether it is cracking down on hong kong in violation of its commitments to the united kingdom, or innovating india and killing 20 indian troops. We largely overlooked all that in the 1990s. We should have known better. Communist chinese comin party, its hiding your strength and biding your time. They were hiding their strength as it accumulated, and biding their time. At best, it was a flawed experiment, more likely a terrible mistake, to vote to give china permanent most favored nation status. In the 1990s, that vote happened every year. That meant American Companies were not going to invest billions of dollars in supply chains in china if the next chinese atrocity, or a new congress or president might say we will not continue that. Once we made it permanent, these American Companies rushed into the chinese market. First, it was trying to get cheap labor. Highey are taking good, paying American Manufacturing jobs and getting cheap labor. Then it was about continuing Market Access to china. Thats what you hear from business executives. We cant let maverick wear a taiwan patch on his Leather Jacket in top gun 2, because we wont be able to access the chinese market. When was the last time you saw a movie in recent years that had the chinese as a villain . The way we sell movies all the time with the soviet union. You just dont see it. Thats because hollywood is beholden, not only to chinese money coming into studios, but to the Chinese Party to get access into a market of 1. 3 billion people. Too many of our Business Leaders are willing to focus on shortterm profitability to sell out american workers, or trying to get access to that market without thinking through the longerterm implications or the risk it poses. Those businesses then being shaken down by Chinese Communist officials through tougher regulations, harassment to the permitting process, or the forced Technology Transfer to Chinese Joint Venture partners, then getting kicked out and losing access to the market. This is why the fbi said the Chinese Business model has been robbed, replicate, replace. They rob americans of our technology, jobs, they replicate it, and replace us. Leaderslong, business didnt recognize it. They were looking for shortterm gains and quarterly profit statements. I commend the president for opening a lot of eyes in washington, im not sure they are fully open, but the American Peoples eyes are now certainly open. Hope, anted to offer some it is pretty dire. When i was in congress, i know every morning you get the 10 papers on the floor in the morning at the office. The chinese inserts are in there. They are having a profound impact on our culture. Virus,na has sent us a the pandemic is global. The harm is devastating. People rationally know it is from wuhan and from china. Yet in the suburbs, when you see the political polling, this doesnt seem to have seeped into the American People. The political choices of President Trump has been pretty forward and aggressive on china. The first president in 40 years. That is significant. So im do you see any hope coming our way that folks are starting to see the culture revolution in china in the 60s, they got rid of all of the old culture, old religion, old leadership, old habits, old everything. Now we are having a little mini cultural revolution in the states, get rid of statues, get rid of religion, get rid of education, get rid of history, get rid of this. Im shocked that the numbers of American People are still going with it. It seems they would clearly go out. This is over the top. What is your assessment . Also in my travels around the country, voters long have concerns about china. Concerns that unfortunately were not reflected in their elected officials in washington for many years. Theres a lot of reasons voters would have to be concerned or even angry about china well before this virus. Think about the factory workers who lost their job when the factory closed and moved to china. Think about the troopers and their family members who are stationed in south korea, japan, on the ships in the western pacific, or worried about chinese aggression like those indian troops. Just about christians, human rights activists in general who are appalled by the chinese record on human rights, on freedom of religion, forced abortions and sterilizations. As we now see in northwest china. To the really no end concerns americans may have had about china before the pandemic. Many shared those concerns, but now that china has unleashed this virus on the world, the American People have seen the true face of chinese communism. Folks will say they think the ccp can be a paper tiger. There is a beige book that has the data, the chamber of commerce shows thirdquarter 19, all the red lights are blinking on china, weakness. They are trying to move to a consumption economy. Jinping is getting concerned, he has to feed the middle crowd middle class. Economic growth used to be big. What is the latest assessment you have, and now they have the floods and the mandate of heaven, the confucius chinese imagination. The mandate of heaven, xi jinping is on very shaky ground. You are on the intelligence side. What can you tell us . You should never believe anything the chinese tells you to include, socalled statistics data. There is no doubt the chinese economy has been growing at slower rates. That was before the pandemic read if they say they are growing at 10, they are probably going at four. Routinelystently and lie to make their performance look better to their people. Thats the bargain you hear them system, have in their we will provide stability in return for growth to help bring hundreds of millions of chinese citizens out of poverty. As that economic engine slows down, that does put more pressure on the regime. Dissatisfaction allowed to be expressed on social media about this virus, as well. Peopleecall, the chinese has been the victims of the Chinese Communist party for over 70 years now. They understand they are ruled by a corrupt dictatorship. They see the way chinese officials live. They see the way they live and they can contrast that. Just the way soviet officials did, as well. I dont think we should underestimate beijings ability to keep control over power. They are ruthless communists. At the same time, throughout history, including recent history in the late 1980s and early 1990s, we have seen communist regimes that appeared to be firmly in power one day, and out of power the next day. Impossiblees seems may soon seem inevitable. Ago, the gdps is approaching ours, they are looking strong, going around the world, they have the belt and rode. You say you want to fight with them strategically. We have three of the worldclass authors going up. They have asymmetric terms. They say if you do that to us, we will do it to you, they say we dont care, we dont care about our people. Now as you do a world tour, the Freedom Alliance, you go india, modi, australia, brazil, subsaharan president s are screaming at china right now. They have strategic allies, but i dont know a friend they have. Do you see a Freedom Alliance growing with the u. S. , even though its a misunderstanding with the american first policy . The America First policy is making us more friends globally may be more than the international alliance. How do youw think its strong, especially relative china. China has used this pandemic to accelerate longstanding goals, like depriving hong kong of autonomy under cover of the pandemic. But china has also suffered in its International Standing severely from this pandemic. You didnt see this right away in part because i think many nations were beholden to china for basic protective equipment, nurses, doctors. They were hesitant in february and march to criticize china openly and directly as all countries have focused more on producing more of the needed protective grip they have. They dont have immediate shortages, they are not dependent on china. To meeteign officials privately have spoken in ways that i have never heard them be so direct. Even publicly, many countries that are small and could not stand up to china on their own have said publicly that china is responsible for the virus, we need to change the model of how we do business in china, and the Freedom Alliance is the strongest, with countries like japan, south korea, and australia, taiwan, india, European Partners like the u. K. It is not just advanced liberal democracies, there are other countries that are not democratic that also feel more strongly about china. We do take vietnam, for instance. There is a long growing coalition prepared to follow americas lead and check chinas ambition on all fronts, military, economic, financial, blue medic, political. Thats what we wanted to do. Thank you. Do we have a senator in the house gearing up . I think i saw the great senator from tennessee sneak in behind you. I just wanted to know. Lets wrap up senator cotton. You, i saidduced moral integrity, a strong moral compass is rare in washington, d. C. Somehow i look at your upbringing, you could have cashed in early on, then you go to the military and make negative pay to serve the country. You serve now. Where do you get the meaning, the spiritual resolve in your life, the strength to say someone has to stand up here and take some arrows on behalf of this great country, and on behalf of the next generation of students, the liberty students watching you right now . Where do you get that steel inside of you . Certainly from my faith, and our god. My wife, as well. My wife is very much a with your shield or on your shield kind of woman. I look at our two young boys and think about the future they want to have. Abraham lincoln called america the last best hope on earth. And america certainly is not perfect, because no human being is perfect, but we remain the last best hope on earth. The nation that stands for the godgiven rights of all men and women to live free. Because we are all created equal in gods image. And stand up to foreign threats, like the Chinese Communist party, but also stand up to our fellow citizens who would deny that we are a great and noble nation. That think we are somehow an irredeemable nation. I reject that. Branch that america is worth fighting for and if we dont fight for it, what will become of the cause of human freedom and dignity on earth . Senator tom cotton, we want to thank you for the dedication and commitment to our country, to our faith, serve in the next generation. Sometimes you hear politicians say we do it for the next generation. A phrase no longer. You are rare. People like you are rare that are standing up and taking it. Congress member if youre Congress Member or senator is not signed onto the senator cotton bills, they should be. Thats a good indicator. If you want a voting scorecard, there is your voting card right there. Its an absolute rush or to have you. God bless you and everything you do. Thank you so much for being with us. Thank you. [applause] we have a superhero in the house. I used to have the privilege and honor of serving with her. She was a leader in the house, a leader to everyone in the house, now to the president of the United States. She has since moved up to senate. Everybody in the press and knows washington, d. C. There are people that fight, and there are people that really fight and stick to their principles. Today, its honor for us to have senator marsha blackburn. Lets welcome her to the Falkirk Center, everybody. I appreciate that. I appreciate with you all today. Ive already heard from some of you. I know that you are aware that last week, i published a paper on what to do about china. 120 specifichan recommendations of what we need to be doing as we work to unravel this relationship with china. For those of you who have not seen it, it is at blackburn. Senate. Gov, china white paper. I encourage you to take a look. Its not that big, so its not that heavy reading. But it is a good guideline for what we should do. I did it because when im out and about in tennessee, people will say china is a problem. Then they will say somebody needs to hold them to account. Then the follow has always been what are we going to do about china . One of the reeses i put one of the reasons i put the time and effort in creating this ther, im seeing right now same marxist philosophies used by the Chinese Communist party filling the streets of portland, chicago, and even a few blocks iny from right where we are washington, d. C. Now these rioters claim they are fighting for criminal justice reform, but consider the tactics. You can trace all of it to the destruction of cultural symbols, the devaluing of the nuclear family, and the complete rejection of history. You can trace all of it back to marx. They have brought modernday mind control to children, teens, and College Students via social media and digital entertainment. They jazz it up with music or dancing, but at the end of the day, its all part of a larger effort to normalize ideological conformity in younger generations. While its true that not every Police Reform protester wants to destroy the institutions that keep us safe, thats exactly what the people behind the scenes are seeking to do. All that fancy instagram worthy packaging is just a distraction from the destructive philosophies that are driving the movement. And my goal with the white paper and with the various pieces of legislation ive sponsored that directly target china is to make sure that we dont let all this chaos distract us from the threat that the communists in beijing posed to our safety and our sovereignty. The goal of this popculture driven socialism is to completely whitewash the dangers posed by godless, ideological conformity and total government control. This is the kind of system that allowed the Chinese Communist muzzlingspend 51 days doctors, lawyers, and journast tried to warn the world about covid19. Those 51 days would have made a difference between the life and death for millions of people. But the ccp said nothing, because the illusion of control was more important to them than saving lives. Our relationship with china is broken. There is no sense in denying it. But it is so important to remember there is no single shot strategy or bill we can count on to sever those ties and regain control. Unraveloing to have to this relationship with china. Mentioned, the paper i put out last week contains more than 120 specific recommendations that run the policy gamut, from Higher Education to manufacturing, to military strategy. But i want to go through just a few i think you will be interested in. The first item i want to address is the broader problem of chinas stranglehold on the global economy. Most, if not all of you, know that beijing has used their belt and Road Initiative to stretch their influence across asia, africa, and europe. And through most of the major sea lanes. These carefully placed investments are really just a trojan horse for military, economic, and political inroads into a nations good graces. Because the bri financing model is so opaque, we can only estimate what chinas growing economic influence is in developing countries, and what it looks like. But its probably somewhere one trillion dollars and 8 trillion. And those trillions of dollars by inroads across countries of every economic background, and in organizations like the united nations, that touts diplomacy and consensus as their guiding principles. Since 2015,ll that the u. N. General assembly has profoundly coughed up a hundred one resolutions condemning zerol and exactly condemning china. Over 101 to zero. Think about that ratio. For the record, theyve condemned the United States six times, making our record worse than those of iran, north korea, and burma. Influenceat chinese looks like. And while we cannot and should not compete dollar for dollar with their shady investments, we do need to partner with our allies to support developing countries and keep chinas debt traps from sucking in desperate leaders. But if we really want to get to the heart of chinese influence, we have to secure our emerging 5g systems. Need to makewe more spectrum available for the commercial wireless sector to ensure that our continued economic and technological leadership in 5g and other emerging technologies does not fall behind. Risk fail to do so, we seating round to china in the standard set of bodies that will define 5g globally. We will also have to share information about threats and risk with our allies, which is a lot more complicated than it sounds. But 5g isnt the only place we are vulnerable. Chinas covid shutdowns caused major disruptions in Global Supply chains. Because we are in the middle of a pandemic, most of the media attention, when we could get some of that attention, focused on prescription drugs and medical supplies. My securing americas medicine cabinet act is currently pending in the senate. Its really the first step to ending our overdependence on china for active pharmaceutical ingredients and medications. The bill, which is bipartisan, would incentivize companies to bring manufacturing operations fundto the u. S. And also partnerships between universities and pharmaceutical companies so that they can train the workforce that we truly need in order to decouple the supply chain from china. Inventoryrse, we need all of our critical medicines we depend on, which are supplied to us, or manufactured, many exclusively in china. And we have to develop a Surge Capacity for ppe. All ofneed to eliminate the regulatory red tape standing in the way of innovation. Portion of thee economy. But look how much has to be done to unravel that relationship that exists in pharmaceuticals. Ive also recommended we prioritize supply chain for medical devices, Natural Resources like the rare earth elements that make your phones work, and unmanned aerial systems. It will take a lot of focus and a lot of collaboration. Alle are going to invest in of this new technology, we need to invest in serious security updates to protect it. The ccp uses a variety of tactics to infiltrate our research community, which means we will have to cut off their connections to our colleges and universities, grantmaking agencies, and think tanks. Im leading a multipart effort to get confucius institutes off of American College campuses. Right now, we have two separate bills targeting the propaganda mail. And propaganda mills. And im also maintaining a constant dialogue with secretary devos. Senator cotton is working with me as we seek to get these 500ucius institutes and confucius class rings that are in our k12 schools in this country. China admits it is part of their soft power. It is time for them to exit. We are also working on additional prohibitions against visas for chinese nationals who want to come to the states for graduate or postgraduate work in stem fields. So these are just a handful of the recommendations. We know this is an uphill battle, because right now, even evidence,e of so much officials in beijing are doing all they can to replace western ideals with their own version of marxism. We are getting a lot of resistance from Global Leaders who were absolutely terrified of angering the ccp. They are allowing these communists to hold their economies hostage, ignoring the immunity for which officials in beijing violate the human rights stealir own people, intellectual property, and commit blatant acts of espionage. It really feels like it is an us versus them many days of the week. You can expect the chinese will push against what we are doing. You can expect them to accelerate their activities, to escalate their hostility. They will move beyond shutting our embassies and keep trying to escalate the conflict. But the good news is we know what to expect. We have decades of history at our disposal, so we know what their marxist curriculum looks like. Ill tell you, if my colleagues on the left and the protesters in the streets really looked at what it is that they are defending, i think they would be shocked and appalled. It falls on us, each and every one of us, to be champions of freedom and to stand in between communist china and our fellow countrymen. Even if they dont yet weerstand what it is that are defending and they are fighting. Thank you so very much. [applause] youve got no excuses, white paper, senator marsha black and. Pick it up, read it, and get educated. Premises of this is Everything Else on one proposition, that china sent us the virus. 40 million americans displaced, all of it. The death, the sickness, the sports, the schools, the bankruptcies. Position yourself on that issue . Was it intentional, by accident, what do we know . Thehe way i started on china issue goes back into the mid90s. I was the head of tennessees film, entertainment, and Music Commission in tennessee, part of our governors cabinet and team. One of the things we began to see was how china was pirating music and tv shows and movies. So i brought that with me to congress. Started the songwriters caucus to work on intellectual property. You were a big supporter of that effort when you were in the house. As we continued, we started the scene, not only will they affect our creative community, but our innovative community, our auto engineers. People that were doing aftermarket auto parts. They would have their patents infringed on. Even like gibson guitars. They would be knocked off in china and end up here. Then we started seeing it fall into pharmaceuticals. This is something i have been 2003. G on since [applause] thats amazing. The thing that has happened what people are doing after covid, they have brought this into their home. It has personally affected them. With talking yesterday someone in tennessee. This lady said she needed to buy some new linens. In her search engine, she put made in the usa sheets and towels. Because she didnt want to buy anything that had been made in china. Goods, comes to consumer so many people are saying that. Furniture, outo of hardwoods, or flooring, using even some of the softwoods and pine. People are saying they want it u. S. Made, they dont want anything made from china. And this carries over to and ouructor chips critical supply chains. Whether it is ppe, pharmaceuticals, you see it also with our military complex. People are saying lets return our manufacturing stateside. Make america manufacturer again. And maybe we turn the old rust belt into a pharmaceutical belt. When you look around the world in the senate, you have a fairly small club. Vote. Glad to see a 980 democrats, bipartisan, thats helpful. Thats hopeful. Then you see india, japan, strong with us. A bunch of countries who are giving china a look. Now after the virus, xi jinping looks a little more wobbly. Ago, we were in trouble, we need to wake up, no one was awake. You were sounding the bells, but not many others. How strong is china, and how do you assess our new friends coming on board . When you talk about xi jinping, you say it exactly right. Right now, they feel since people are beginning to say wait a minute when it comes to china, that they have to hit the accelerator. And what they want to do is double down on their efforts. Ist we need to keep in mind china wanted the 21st century to be the chinese dominant century. Thats their goal. Ones that we are the they have to diminish and destroy. And look at back o and the waya mao approached the Chinese People, you see a good bit of this repeated with xi jinping. If you look at what happening with efforts against hong kong, what happening with the xi andings uyghurs concentration camps. You see how they have pushed back against taiwan. You see what they are doing with their aggression in the south china sea. The debte, you look at diplomacy, the horn of africa. They are trying to set up a long game. And for us, what we have to realize is we have to unravel this relationship. You, i think we have to role model for other nations how they can unravel this relationship so they dont alone, theyey are feel we are going to help them with this. But that relationship we have with our allies like japan over in that asean region so they are standing with us is going to be vitally important. Plus, when you look at the u. S. Senate and the u. S. House, we need people that understand and appreciate that relationship and realize we have to have our allies with us as we push back on china and keep them from having further aggressive actions. Thats a great model going forward. We will have a few authors with us on the stage in an hour. I think you have read all of the books we have talked about. Now their generals. They say we are at war with you in and 99. Bill gertz deceiving this guy. General rob spalding. Deceiving this guy. The American People you grow up in the heartland, they are all good people. The judeochristian tradition is strong, they care about people, they want to help people. Are your folks able to take in some of the deeds china is showing us . When you read about them killing 60 million people, can they absorb this . Its not the Chinese People, this whole conference this is the ccp. We want to free 1. 4 billion people from bondage so they can have faith and freedom in this. The American People judeochristian depots, is it still strong, and can they see others can do evil to us so we can fight back . These guys say we are at war, are we are not . With china . I think its not a stretch to use the term that this is a cold war because of how we are going to have to break away from some of our relationship with them and some of our allies. Boris johnson with his decision was a hugew huawei win for us. One of the things that has happened is the confluence of events that we have seen with covid, with the rioters, and the destruction, and what you are seeing on the streets. And you have some of these rioters, the groups will say we are trained marxists. Thats causing people to wake up and say wait a minute, we dont like that. Peaceful protest is wonderful, we should protect peaceful protest. Protecthould honor and free speech. But rioting, vandalism, destruction, loss of life, that is not ok. And people are beginning to look at the linkages. Im glad you went there. You had a fighter here. ,our remarks earlier on marxism and now in the streets, the activists have selfproclaimed themselves saying they were trained and steeped in marxist ideology. For those of you who dont know what it is, the American People are builders. We construct things. We built the faith, the rule of law, the constitution, businesses, the free market system. The marcus are deconstructionists. Tearing down statues, creating violence. The marxists always promise you utopia on the moment. Give us everything and we will give you back what you need. The minimum. Is so refreshing to hear politicians usually wont go there. Constituents starting to see that this marxist link to the radicals in the streets across the u. S. , and the ccp is saying we like this . What they watch and talk to me about is the hong kong protesters and watching them fight for freedom. Then hearing Great Britain and Boris Johnson say weve got your back. If they wont let you be free, we will allow you here. And that hurts a lot of people. They are starting to Pay Attention to that. So many of my friends from veryh, our church, we are invested in mission programs. We know the impact of a ,ocialistic, or a communistic regime, and how it limits free speech and free thought, and the practice of religion and freedom of expression. And you have seen that, and you ache, because you want to help people and free them. Id thats one of the things had a great conversation with someone from a bible study group. Realized this,st we never go in and control lands when we free people, we leave. We help you with your freedom. Leninist, rxist, stalinist communists, they all come in and control and dominate. And they take the bounty unto themselves, unto the government, and take it from the people. They say go forward, be prosperous. Dream your dreams and make them come true. Thats the difference between communistic control and the difference in freedom. Its also one of the reasons i have been pushing u. S. Companies, like the nba. To the is so deeply tied Chinese Communist party with some of their business relationships, china tv, keepba, those things, pushing them. Fortunately, they ended the Training Facility in jens jane. They conferred that to me in a letter i got last week. Take every should penny of profit that they are making off of china, and they should put it into a fund to help these uyghurs, these hong for theedom fighters, oppression that they have had to and the persecution they have suffered. They should not use that profit for that violation of human rights to themselves. I will ask you a twopart question. When i was in congress, the democrats are charming individuals. Theres been a shift on the faculty from when i started 30 years ago. They went from liberals, root word liberty, that used to respect dialogue and debate, and have you seen a shift in the house and senate, are the liberals leaving and the leftists taking over . How do you characterize that transition . Theres more of a tendency to tilt left. They would call themselves progressive democrats. Some refer to themselves as leftists. It is something that is of concern to me. Freedoms cause, and the retention of freedom and liberty, and the usa is the beacon of freedom and liberty to the world. That, because we have robust respectful bipartisan debate. That is essential. I have very good friends who are classic liberals, and who are democrats. And i appreciate their opinion. I learn from them, and i enjoy conversations with them. But the impact of the canceled culture has really made it difficult for so many people to step forward and say what they believe. Especially to women, who are independent or conservative, they say i just dont say anything anymore, i am totally quiet. I dont put anything on social media. I just stay away from all conversation. Sad, becauses very we want people to have these point ando have this counterpoint, and have that dialogue and learn from one another, and to live in a time i think its really sad that it is frowned upon and encouraged. I want to thank you for being with us. Before we close, i want to do housekeeping. You are in the senate, you are very civilized. Do i hear some of the barbarians at the gate, are any of my house members out there . Team . Somebody . Do we have a couple of house guys back there . We have one ready to roll . We have had some traffic delays because of our great leader in state. I just want to thank senator marsha blackburn. You have just heard wisdom that we need in our leadership in the senate. I think shes going to be if nothip in the senate at the peak of our country in the nottoodistant future. Keep your eyes open. She speaks the truth. You have heard her track record. Shes not a beginner when it comes to principles, taking on china when they need it. The Falkirk Center dedicated to faith and freedom has a true champion, and senator marsha blackburn, my true friend, thank you for being with us.
