Good afternoon, everyone. I would like to detail the historic private partner launched by the Trump Administration to combat the coronavirus. President ,ssman and candidate donald trump was adamant about bringing manufacturing jobs back to america. President obama and the democrats had given up on thefacturing with prediction that trump would need a massive wand in order to bring back american jobs. Not so. President trump revised manufacturing in this country and he tore up disastrous trade deals that hemorrhaged american jobs. Instead, he put in place better trade deals to bring back american jobs and american manufacturing. In the battle against the invisible enemy, President Trump took action to shore up our domestic supply chains in order to deliver the necessary ppe and other medical equipment to the states. Are currentlys promoting a 3 trillion liberal wish list among the litany of democrat priorities and material to the coronavirus crisis. One would require the president to appoint a medical supply response court nader who would serve as a point of contact for the healthcare system, supply chain officials, and the state medical supplies. This individual already exists. This bill ignores reality because the medical supply official has been working on this since march to deliver over one billion pieces of ppe to countries and hospitals across the country. Since march 29, admiral job asyk has been on the the head of femas supply Chain Stabilization Task force. This is a Historic Partnership with the private sector. Fema directed the greatest mobilization of the private sector since world war ii. The admiral quickly realized the power of the private sector in addressing the coronavirus, recognizing that the six largest private medical distributors would have the print ability to manufacture and deliver as many as one billion pieces of ppe in a single week. That is extraordinary. The admiral and fema were able to harness the power. Everyday at 9 00, his team huddles with the six large private sector medical distributors and they review asa compiled by dr. Birx well as information provided by to ensure sufficient levels of supplies to the county level and hospital level. They orient the data to that point of care distribution priority for Public Hospitals and facilities. In just 2. 5 weeks, they were chaino utilize supply visualization tools from dod and input data into the cloud. The system is now available to generate reports for governors showing what their state received from the federal government and commercial partners all the way down to the hospital level. Thanks to President Trump and his administration, governors have visibility as to whether supplies are sent and where they are received. From march 3 through may 10, this Publicprivate Partnership has led to delivering over 113 million n95 respirator masks, half a billion surgical masks, 80 million face shields, and over 12 billion lungs. Thats a lot of ppe. We think our private sector partners for engaging in this effort with us. The president held an hourlong call with thousands of Hispanic Community business and faith leaders across the country. He recognized the many contributions that the community has given to our country and address important issues. Note, the wanted to passing of robbie zachariah, a renowned christian apologist who left this world yesterday. Our prayers are with his family during this time. He meant a lot to a lot of round a lot of people around his administration. We are all thinking about him and holding him close to our hearts. Ill take questions. What does the president believe is illegal about the secretary setting up absentee ballot the ballot applications . Into exactly what the funding considerations are. His tweets were meant to alert aboutary mnuchin and his concerns with trillions of dollars going to the states. Noted concerns about a lot of fraud that is potentially at play when you have mass mailing voting. With regards to the illegality of it, that is a question for the campaign. Note that the tweet was meant to alert omb. We want to be very careful as we sent trillions of dollars to states. The president himself voted by mail a few months ago. There are several republican states that are also doing these applications for ballots. Im confused. What is it that he thinks is a legal that is happening in michigan . With regards to the president doing a mailin vote, the president. S the hes here in washington and end able to cast his vote in florida. For him, thats why he had to do a mailin vote. He supports mailin voting for a reason. When you have a reason that you are unable to be present, right now, we are far from november 3. Im glad you have the prediction tool. I certainly dont notice the president. [inaudible] you care about fairness and accuracy in our elections. Do you not . Of course i do. Theres no evidence there is evidence. You can look this up on propublic up. There was a bipartisan consensus that mass mailing voting can lead to frog. There was a 2005 commission by president carter and james baker about these ballots remaining the largest source of potential voter fraud. This is a concern. The president is right to look at this. A free to free affair and fair election. The present delete of his tweet. E we [inaudible] was the president misinformed this morning . Why is this only towards michigan, not other states sending similar requests . The president corrected his tweet, as you noted. With regard to going statebystate, that would be a question for the trump campaign. I refer you to the campaign on that point. Deal have more details on the timing . Does that mean that travel restrictions that are currently would be relaxed before that meeting would take place . I wont get into the mechanics. The president wants to see the g7 happen here in washington. Country, reopening the but as the world begins to reopen. He would like to see it in june. I dont have any announcement on the particular date or the mechanism. A couple questions. Does President Trump support the cdc guidelines that were released over the weekend . Why were they released so quietly . The cdc guidelines, there was a 60 page document that came out last night. I talked to dr. Redfield. Much of that was already out there. They have been out there for a while. He thinks it got posted sometime late last week. These were his rough estimates. F was being discussed. The 60 page document was merely an aggregation of a lot of what was already out there. Not none of it was new information we were announcing. It was more guidance pursuant to our reopening of america guidance that was issued several weeks ago. Does he think americans should follow those guidelines or the initial guidelines that were rolled out from the podium . The president supports the reopening of america guidelines. The cdc guidelines are in concert with those guidelines. It is important we safely reopen the country. Most states have plans at this point to reopen. We are starting to see the safe reopening of several states. Americans getting back to work. Got a statement from the American Nurses association that says, the American Nurses association has not received reports from nurses or other front my Health Care Workers utilizing hydroxychloroquine that the preventative treatment for covid19. Why does the president continued to say that many of front line are using it as a probe . There is a study now. 3000 frontline workers will be taking hydroxychloroquine, to look at its use as a prophylaxis. I believe that theres a few hundred workers in tampa general hospital. This is being used by some. I want to note with regard to hydroxychloroquine, it is very important that we are as accurate as we can be with our reporting on this. Hydroxychloroquine has been a drug that has been in use for 65 years. Lupus, arthritis, malaria. It has a very good safety profile. As with any drug, it should be given by a doctor to a patient in that context. No one should be taking this without a prescription. That being said, ive seen a lot of coverage of hydroxychloroquine. Saying the president is trying to kill himself by taking it. Joe scarborough saying, this will kill you. What have you got to lose . The one thing you have to lose his life. Chris cuomo saying, the president know that hydroxychloroquine is not supported by science. It has been flagged by his own people and hes using it. Cuomo mocked the president for this. Interestingly, i found this out, hydroxychloroquine is an fda approved medication with a long proven track record for safety. It turns out that chris cuomo took a less safe version of it called quinine which the faa removed from the market in 2006 because of its serious side effects including death. Really interesting how that criticism of the president , i would like to redirect them to his brother, Governor Cuomo. He has several on the record statements about hydroxychloroquine. Saying, im an optimist, im hopeful about the drug. We will try it as soon as we get it. Theres anecdotal evidence that it is promising. I have eight other quotes from Governor Cuomo should any of you have interest in that. They are trials in the early stages. The you have any evidence that thousands of frontline workers are using it because they believe it will prevent them from getting sick . The fda has approved this for a label use. This president is a big believer in the right to try legislation. There are studies that the president has mentioned that i would refer you to. There was a french study. It involved more than 1000 patients. The vast majority had good clinical outcomes. That was more than 90 . The was an italian study of more than six 5000 patients that demonstrated only 20 have been positive of those were taking a prophylactic. There are several studies. This is a safe drug to use. Your doctor prescribes it for use as a prophylaxis or after coming into contact with covid. It is something you should take if it is provided prescribed by your doctor. Its personal medical choice. [inaudible] the president may be going down to florida next week. Is that accurate . We have no news on scheduling. If i get news in the future, i will provide that for you. How often does the president talked to the acting director of the dod omb . Often. He was in the oval office with the president. They speak often. I dont have a read out of his schedule. Flag histed to concerns about michigan. My does and tell them instead of sending a tweet . This president has unprecedented transparency. Im sure you are excited when you learn about the president s decisionmaking process realtime. That was the reasoning for him expressing that . Is am saying this transparent president. That is something he should be applauding rather than questioning. [inaudible] do you have any answers from g7 leaders . I wont get into the president s present private correspondences with world leaders. Well to see this happen. [inaudible] i dont have any information about their response. We certainly hope to see this happen. Clarify President Trumps comments about saying it was good that there were so many positive tests for covid19 . A lot of people look at that and say, this was terrible. We have one third of all the cases in the world. I would note that the president was saying that we are testing. When you have more cases, in order to identify those cases, you have to have tested a high volume of people. The more you test, the more cases numerically not necessarily as a percent positive. Just by sheer volume of your testing. The president has an extra very job on this front. States haveozen Testing Capacity that outstrips the supply of patients. Thats a very good job done by our federal government in supporting the states. York, wenor of new have more Testing Capacity than we are using. We are testing a lot. We are finding a number of cases. As we safely reopen, we have encouraging numbers on that front. We continue to see a week over week decline. 15 decline in deaths over the last week. 50 decline in new hospitalization and under 25,000 cases today. Were seeing progress. [inaudible] i would reference you to the campaign. These are valid questions. [inaudible] my employer is the white house. Thats not a camp in question. Thats a president of the United States question. [inaudible] i would refer you to the campaign on that front. I would note, many of those ballots that are submitted via mail can be fraudulent. You to a bipartisan study. Maybe you werent paying attention. Democrat, carter, a and james banker concluded that these ballots were the largest source of potential voter fraud. Via mailst a ballot fraudulently, that would be an illegal act. I would point you to my former employer, the trump campaign. [inaudible] thank you. Two questions. Firstly on airports. The tsa is considering setting up temperature checks at airports. Given the number of people who can be asymptomatic, you think that is sufficient . Why wasnt it worked on sooner . The president is working with tsa and airlines. We want to ensure that our tsa employees are safe and those were traveling are safe. He has had those conversations. We are keeping people safe. [inaudible] do you think this is enough action and soon enough . We are working with the tsa and keeping americas essential workers safe. We are praying for all of those who have been affected by coronavirus. I wanted to ask about eric trump. He said, the democrats are. Rying to milk this [inaudible] do you think his comments are accurate at all . I think we hope coronavirus goes away. We continue to take the president and his family out of context. [inaudible] [inaudible] we hope that the coronavirus goes away. Is there a timeline for when the u. K. And European Union citizens are allowed to come back into the United States . Will all European Countries be included . We dont have a timeline on that. The president s concern is keeping americans safe. Travel restrictions have saved lives. Dont have an announcement as to when we will roll this back. His priority is America First and health and wellbeing of the nation first. [inaudible] is there a reason why . [inaudible] i dont think there was a particular reason. It did not come up. On that note, i would point to governor whitmer. Shes curious about an invitation. She should be happy that, thanks to the federal government, 216. 2 million to michigan, respirators, surgical masks, face shields. The president has done quite good for michigan. She should be thanking the president for all the supplies he delivered to the state. The president is concerned about liability issues as companies reopen now. Is the white house engaged with republican senators about this issue . With the president sign another bill without liability being addressed . I wont lay out the president s conditions or lack thereof for any upcoming legislation. He has mentioned that it is something that needs to be looked at closely. He is discussing with members of the hill about that. Hes made it clear in terms of, he wants to be slow as we approach states and not rush forward with spending trillions of more dollars of taxpayer money. Weve done a lot so far. Liability is something that he is concerned about and working on. [inaudible] one more on g7. Do you think it would be appropriate to hold a g7 summit in the u. S. When ordinary citizens are not allowed to travel . The president wants us to start reopening travel restrictions. That is something he wants to make sure american lives are protected. I think its entirely appropriate for the president to have a g7 here. The world reopening, is reopening. What a show of strength and optimism to have all the leaders of these countries come together at the white house and pursue business as usual as we move forward through this pandemic. Is there anyone i havent gotten to . I guess not. We will do a few more. Susan rice wrote an oped yesterday in the New York Times that said that President Trump has said [inaudible] what is the white house response to that . That came from susan rice, was it . First, i want to take a moment to address the president s response. The president has had in extraordinary and early response to the coronavirus. Birx, the early work of President Trump over travel restrictions and quarantine, has bot is the time and space necessary to have the task force be very effective. Dr. Fauci saying the president s response has been impressive. He cant imagine that anyone could be doing anything more. I could go through the detailed timeline out there. Travel 6, wuhan with the notice issued. The republic elementary screenings at major u. S. Airports. The infamous travel restrictions that were called xenophobic by democrats on january 3. 31st. Mind, the president had taken very early action. I know you brought up susan rice in that context. I will bring her up in another context that is equally newsworthy. The email that was declassified from susan rice on Inauguration Day which is so peculiar. You are moving out of the white house. The most powerful building on planet earth. She is reflecting on her time here and what is she doing . She is not packing her packing her boxes or being nostalgic. Wherewriting and email three times she writes that president obama emphasized to conduct the investigation into Michael Flynn by the book, by the book, by the book. Thou dosteare said, protest too much. She discussed it on january 5 at the oval office with obama. She was asked by a good journalist about this email. About the unmasking of Michael Flynn. She was asked specifically about these claims. She said, i know nothing about this. It was a lie. Rice, her attorney said that this was the first opportunity that she had to write this email memorializing her Oval Office Meeting with the barack obama, it was her first opportunity. Interesting. She had an opportunity in those three weeks to do a passing of the baton event with Michael Flynn. She praised him and wish him success and talked about his great transition to the white house. She was able to participate in a story that published on that day in the lifestyle section of the washington post. But she never had time to write this email until Inauguration Day as she was rushing out the door. She had an opportunity to do all of those things. I believe that with you. Thank you for bringing up susan rice, allowing me to share that. , testimony from epa administrator Andrew Wheeler on his agencys role during the coronavirus and future priorities before the Senate Environment and public works committee.
