Millions of hardworking americans have been asked to ,ake tremendous sacrifices sacrifices like nobody thought would even be possible or that would ever be talking about your disk virus has inflicted an enormous and painful toll on our nations workers m Small Businesses. Businesses. Nd small that is why i asked congress to pass the Paycheck Protection Program to keep workers on the payroll grade four weeks ago i was proud to sign it in law and we did it in a great ceremony with many of the people here and the officials. It was something. I will ask steve to say a few words, but the kind of numbers and jobs that have been saved is incredible. You will see that in the coming weeks. The Treasury Department and the Small Business administration launched the program in recordbreaking time, just one week. In the 14 days following its launch, we processed as many loans as the sba would typically process in over 14 years. In 14 days dated more work and loans both in terms of applications and in terms of dollar amounts, than they did in 14 years. For teen gays, 14 years, an easy thing to remember. Days, 14 years, an easy thing to remember. 340 billion dollars so that American Workers can retain jobs, receive paychecks, and help our economy take off quickly once america opens for business, which is happening right now as we sit. Are you already . I know you are. Actions supported 30 million 30 million american jobs. Last Week Congress answered our call to replenish the program and i was honored to sign an additional 320 million for American Workers into law. At least 60 billion reserve for Community Financial intitutions, including those minority and distressed communities. It is also africanamerican communities, spare span and asian hispanic and asian communities. We began the second round of ding yesterday your demand yesterday. Demand is high. Theof the things that secretary of the treasury told me is that the amounts are much more loans at much smaller amounts. We are looking at the smaller as this is an that is what we want. Nonetheless, we are processing loans at a pace never achieved before. In the first 20 are ours in the second round of funding, we handled over 30 more loans than any previous day of the program. So far we have processed an amazing 450,000 loans, totaling over 50 billion pray that is in phase two and that is incredible. Administrator and Steven Mnuchin, ivanka has had an incredible role in this and that is what she wants to do, help people there it ivanka has used her experience as an entrepreneur to fight for the American Worker good she has created many jobs. That is what she first did she just wanted people to get jobs and job training. She went to the biggest countries anywhere in the world that are located in our country and they would take hundreds of thousands of people and train them. I think you got up to 50 million people. Offer she started wanting to get hundred 50,000 inches up to 15 million people. Ivanka toke to ask say a few words as to what is exactly happening today and what is happening over the next week and what her views are for what is going to happen over the next period of time. It is going to be something very special and bigger and wetter than anybody understands lets see if i am right about that. [applause] trump thank you everyone, and think you mr. Program, use of the ppp was able to rehire the 120 workers she was forced to lay off. Now those workers, all of which have some form of disability, are able to bring cheer and comfort to your clients as you serve them. If youd like to share your story, and michael, her great colleague, is here as well to share his perspective. [applause] thank you, ivanka, mr. President. I am so honored to be joined my my employee michael who you will hear from in just a moment. We are more than just a coffee shop. It is a human rights movement. We employ 120 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For most of them, it is their first paying job, which made the decision for us to temporarily close all five of our shops especially difficult. But thanks to the Paycheck Protection Program and the incredible team, all 120 employees are back on the working from and home writing handwritten notes that we include with each online order we ship. [applause] i know everyone is ready to return to normal, but i believe one where people with disabilities are valued, especially in the workplace. As a recipient of the ppp loan, we will continue to take up the charge and help everyone, especially people with disabilities, pursue the american dream. To you, President Trump and ivanka, thank you for inviting us. Us eared ior having for my job and them having us. I love my job and happy to go back. The and my amazing coworkers are not broken and we have lots to offer. The great country of the United States isnt broken. On behalf of myself and all the employees, thank you for inviting us over. How about explaining. Come on up, please. [applause] thank you. You first about for inviting our employee. Who represent the Restaurant Industry who have any really hard. I would first like to think the president and the Vice President for leading us to the pandemic. It has devastated our restaurants. My three restaurants have been devastated had to furlough over 100 people. That was a hard phone call to make its weeks ago until the employees. I have never had to lay off employees. It was extremely hard and emotional and one of the hardest choices i ever had to make. I promisedh, but every employee we would do our best to bring them back and fight tooth and nail to get them back into the restaurants and be successful like we were the 10 years before all of this terrible stuff happened. Loanthe help of the ppp and the success of the ppp loan we were able to get, i can keep my promise and wring every one of those back. Thank you. It has been awesome to tell you we will weather this storm and be stronger and more agile once this is over. We are surviving and doing things we didnt do before with carry out and curbside and delivery and meal plans. They are awesome to see my fellow Industry Leaders doing in the industry. I commend every one of those restaurants fighting to survive. Thank you all for that. We will get through this and welcome our guests back and thank them for their support through all of this. Amazing stories of guests coming into give us tips and cash to give to employees that will not be forgotten. Allok forward to the monday restaurants and businesses can open and be as successful as they were before. Thank you very much. Pres. Trump fantastic, thank you. [applause] my name is mark underwood. And am a living example of what your plan has done. I am a husband and father of five and my mother lives with me. Talking about the day the layoffs happen, it is emotional. Has now givenit life to my family and injected hope into our business and allowing us to fight the fight. I appreciate it from everybody on your team to help us get through the issue we are going through good thank you very much. Pres. Trump is he a great chef or a good chef . He is a great chef. [applause] is a great that story. Your mother list with you in five children. That was a rough day. Never happened to you before, probably. It happened to a lot of people it never happened and we are bringing it all back. There are a couple of places that have opened. I dont know if you saw that, they restaurants and their are lines that are very long to get in. People want to come back. We are going to bring our country back. They want to get to work. Thank you very much. The ceo and founder of ecu communications, jackie, please. [applause] pres. Trump i get in trouble for touching it. He touched the microphone. President ,u, mr. Ivanka, secretary mnuchin. It is a pleasure and honor to be here. From columbia in south america. Years. Been here many a big part of those years i have been here, i have been the ceo of the company i founded 16 years ago. We focus on advertising and marketing with products for diversity and outreach programs. Are ahan anything, we woman owned Small Business, minority owned 100 . Like many of the stories i heard before me, and im sure the ones that are coming, we are concerned about the future and being able to get the ppp loan has given me and my staff a little piece of mind to know we are going to be ok. At the end of february, i hired three more staff members. We are 30 now. When we heard the news about going home and working from home or not able to work, the first thing that goes through your mind is, how my going to tell these folks they have to go . Being able to get the pp leno ppp loan has given me peace of mind that i can keep the staff and focusing on my program. Thank you so much, for what you do, for your leadership. Pres. Trump great job. Congratulations. [applause] thank you, jackie. Great job. Partner ofer and West Virginia i consultants. I like West Virginia. Consultants. I like West Virginia. West virginia likes you. Thank you, mr. President , ivanka. I appreciate the opportunity to be here. It is an honor and a privilege. It is meaningful to have this opportunity. We are based out of charleston, West Virginia, started in 2011. We had two doctors, one employee and one location. Over the last nine years we have been blessed with growth and have worked hard. In february, we celebrated our ninth anniversary with seven locations, seven doctors, and 60 employees. It has been a great ride. Just a month later, thanks to covid19, we shut most of it down. I partners and i were overwhelmed and bewildered and wert sure how we were going to survive. Thankfully, they passed the cares act and President Trump sign that into law and as part of that, the ppp loans became available. My partners and i applied to the sba, and we were so thankful to receive that, because it has been a lifeline for us. We were able to start paying our utilities, rent, and ringing employees back that we need to get staged to begin to reopen the economy. We are so grateful for President Trumps leadership and congress for working with him to get us through this crisis. Thank you so much. We appreciate all of your help. [applause] you do eye so examinations, doctor . And you classes and all that. I may have to see you. You are probably better than the highpriced people that i used to see. I bet you are better than all of them. I may have to see you soon, i am serious about it. You move quickly, no long meetings. I may have to see you, thank you. Ceo of jdent and clock professional services. [applause] thank you, mr. President , ivanka,. Mr. Secretary and benefit administrator. I am the president and ceo of jd clark professional services. I am a general contractor and Property Maintenance manager for the Affordable Housing hospitality as well as our government agencies, particularly our nonprofit. Most of my employees are the underserved, underemployed or unemployed and having the opportunity to be a hope to apply for a program such as the Paycheck Protection Program allowed me to keep those individuals employed. As a Small Business owner, my company is based out of prince georges, maryland and i have been in business 12 years. As a Small Business owners, we never want to fire or lay off. To the extent of ourselves not forgoedg a paycheck, i my paycheck until i could get funds. With the paycheck we received last monday, it has allowed us andontinue to pay our staff for even myself as the Business Owner to once again take a paycheck. This program is phenomenal for our Small Businesses. And madame administrator, i did also apply for the Economic Injury disaster loan, and i did receive my advance on tuesday of last week. These programs are very critical for the Small Business community, but i do believe that we as Small Businesses are strong and resilient and we will bounce back. Thank you. [applause] pres. Trump have ever thought of running for office . You could do it easily. You are something. Thank you very much. Look ernestine, executive Vice President chief Retail Office , executive Vice President and chief ritz officer. Come on up. Chief Retail Officer. Come on up. You, i am proud to be here representing the bank period in part of our board, our and those whove rolled up their sleeves and work tirelessly to help communities, working aroundtheclock and helping them gain access to paycheck protection funds. It is a Small Community bank based in pennsylvania and maryland. In just 14 days, we were able to process 1500 paycheck protection loans totaling 370 million. In those two weeks, we processed more loans in total amount then we did in an average year last year. We did more sba loans in 14 days than in our entire 101 year history. Why . Because this is about communities. This is not about the bank and not about banks. This is about people in the stories you are hearing today and what is going on on main street. What is happening with the paycheck traction programming are heartwarming and inspirational. We are helping pizza shops, delis, healthcare workers, instruction workers, and countless others get access these funds. These people need this money and they are getting a lifeline through this program. Every job is sustaining to someone and the ppp is saving the livelihoods of those in our communities. We want to thank you, mr. President , for your leadership during this and start an area and unprecedented time and for partnering with banks and congress to help us and give the opportunity to do what we do best, and that is serve our communities through the good times and the bad. You have unleashed the private Industry Innovation and we are going to respond. Want to thank secretary mission the administrator secretary Steven Mnuchin and the administrator of the sba to help us help those in need. And with that, we can do this. Nk you, mr. President area mr. President. Pres. Trump thank you very much. Shopresident of the body , ed and jims body shop. Please come up. Present, you, mr. And insteadetary, of celebrating our anniversary of being in business, we began at furloughing employees. I would like to thank President Trump for quickly signing the ppp into action. At and jims were able to provide our employees the paycheck starting this week. This program has given Small Business the funds needed to operate and maintain through this crisis. With everything we have gone through, i cant extend a thank you enough to President Trump for everything he has done for Small Businesses like us in the unwanted industry. Mr. President , thank you very much for what you have done for us for the industry. Pres. Trump what do you do with cars . We are a collision repair shop. We work with Insurance Companies and we have customers. Pres. Trump can you generally fix when there is a problem with sending for new or do you put new pieces on . It depends. With big collisions will have to send out what we can repair with the small stuff. We have been fortunate to repair a lot of things good with the moved for manufacturers to to producing other things such as ppe, we are a little concerned about what that means for us. I know you will do the right thing for us. We appreciate you. Pres. Trump thank you very much. [applause] ,he executive Vice President plum contracting inc. [applause] pres. Trump come on appear. That mask on the weight you had it. Thank you President Trump, ivanka, secretary, and manner administrator. I am representing the highway industry. Aum contracting is thirdgeneration unit highway and bridge contractor in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. With the winter construction shutdowns, we have been left with little revenue coming into a new season. Covid 19 or play halted all highway work on march 16 in our revenue. Th very little we were forced to sadly lay off a majority of our employees, about 125, which included trades and management. There were a lot of sleepless nights in fear of losing it all. The payroll Protection Program was and remains the engine that is caring our business through the shut down. We would not survive without it. With our ppp approval, we anticipate our Company Running at full capacity when the highway industry is permitted to return back to work. We applaud you, mr. President for your interest in the welfare of the small and the American Worker. Thanks to that, my country will be here to work on a big Infrastructure Program very soon when you are ready to do that. Thank you. Pres. Trump thank you very much. [applause] pres. Trump i was with Governor Ron Desantis of florida, which is interesting from your standpoint, because we talked about the business you are in and he noticed that right into the immediate shut down, he noticed very few things on the cars and he did an opposite thing and he said this is a great time to fix the roads and highways. As soon as he said it in the and office two hours ago, he said isnt it better than fixing them during rush hours and when there is traffic and when it is booming like it will be again just like it was before . He is fixing roads and bridges and doing h menace amount of work during this period of time doing a tremendous amount of work during this period of time. But it made a lot of sense when i heard it. I would like to ask secretary mnuchin to come up and talk about how well it is going and the records, to a point where there has never been anything like this with the loans coming in and how the loans are smaller than phase one and that makes us happy because that means smaller businesses and that is what we are aiming at this time. You,tary mnuchin thank mr. President and thank you, ivanka, for putting this together. Your stories are the stories of the 60 million American Workers that are going to have the benefits of the close to 1 trillion that the president and congress have invested in Small Business to protect you and put you back to work. That is over 650 billion in the ppp, 300 billion in disaster loans, and over 20 million of grants. I know the press has commented on a lot of Big Companies that inappropriately took the money and we have been very clear and announced today that any loan over 2 million will have a full review for forgiveness before they are repaid, because this is the story of Small Business here. I am so pleased to see how this is working. Thank you you, mr. President. We are going to be up to close to 100 million in direct deposits in checks for the Economic Impact payments. If you have not received it yet, please go to irs. Gov, get my payment. We made some corrections to the website for the weekend. Please go on and check your payment if you have not received your payment. Upload your information so we can get you the money. The combination of the direct payments, the ppp, the disaster loans, and enhanced Unemployment Insurance is the investment that the president has made an American Business and American Workers. Thank you, mr. President. [applause] and on the enhanced payments we are looking to the state and unfortunately some states have old computerized equipment from generations ago, but they have the money to give out and they will give it out as it comes in hopefully they will be able to do that. Some states have been efficient and some have had a hard time and you can work with the ones who have had a hard time, we rely on the states to get it out as quickly as they can. Maybe they can get new equipment when this is all done. If you like to ask some questions, this would be a good time. This is the media and you have heard me talk about them on occasion. I think with you in the room i have a feeling they will ask me nicer questions and tone them down. I give for the apology. That was very nice. Go ahead, jim. Today we had a grim milestone of one million cases of coronavirus. Back in late everywhere you predicted that the number of cases would go down to zero. How did we get from your prediction of zero to one million . Pres. Trump it will go down to zero ultimately. You have to understand that when it comes to cases, we do much more testing than anyone else. We could go to some of the other countries, as an example, china, you will test many more cases. We are doing more testing than any other country in the world by far, which we just discussed in the oval office. We will show more cases because we are doing much more testing, double anybody else. Somebody said if you had ever bs combined, that would be a number and it will be down to zero at the appropriate time. Rent the expert saying the number of cases would go up and you would have Community Spread . Pres. Trump also many very good experts in many people said it should never affect the united and anythingrope outside of china. We were listening to experts and they got it wrong and a lot of people got it long and a lot of people had no idea it would be the serious. I did something that the experts thought i shouldnt have done. I closed down our borders and did a ban on china from coming in other than u. S. Citizens, and we did very strong checks on u. S. Citizens. Ron desantis was tongue us before that people were put into quarantine when they came in and checked and we are doing was telling us that before people were put into quarantine and they came in and checked. I think weve done a great job in the sense that we were early. By banning china and banning people coming in who wouldve been heavily infected, we probably saved hundreds of dozens of lives. What about the idea of another round of stimulus payment to american taxpayers directly . Democrats on the hill or talking about the idea of guaranteed income, which obviously could go on for months and months what about another round . Pres. Trump i like the idea appear cuts payroll tax cuts and a lot of economists and people agree with me. I think friendly it is simple. It is not the big distribution and it would be an incentive to come back to work and for employees to hire. The double tax on the company and on the person or that is what i like. Something like that could happen. Also, i think you have to look, icause a lot of people assume your next question would be about state. Steve and mitch and kevin and i talked about it. We are not to recover 25 years of bad and schmidt and give them the money they lost. It is unfair to other states. It is if it is covid related, we can talk about it, we want things including sanctuary city adjustments. I dont even think they are popular even by radical left, because people are being protected that shouldnt be protected and bad things are happening with sanctuary cities, but that is just standing up answering this question, it is one of the things we think about. If we are going to do something for states, they will want something having to do with sanctuary cities and other different points that we can discuss a little later on. Jeff, go ahead. You are going to sign an executive order about the Meat Packaging plants. It affects liability for them. What measures were you looking at for liability for other industries and other businesses . Pres. Trump it has not been asked on other industries yet, but with the meat packing and transportation, we have had some difficulty were they are having liability that is unfair to them. And we arent going to be doing that fairly soon. I should be signing that over the next hour or so and that will free up the entire system here i fully understand it is not their fault. I just want to go back to when we discussed in a little more, are you asking airlines to Test International or thomistic flights . Pres. Trump or domestic flights . Pres. Trump we are doing it for the international flights. I hope brazil is going to be ok. Thatresident, but i think we are going to look at it from the standpoint and i was at with theth governor from florida. South america seems to be one that is talking about because they have so much business going into florida. Florida has done incredibly well and they are opening rapidly. We will be looking at that in the near future and looking at it very strongly. Either the airlines or government. We are working with the airlines, maybe a combination. Some Health Experts say the u. S. Needs 5 million tests per day by june in order to safely reopen good you unveiled a plan yesterday that will increase testing but not my that much. Why not and can you get to that benchmark question mark pres. Trump we will increase it and we will increase it more and we are ahead of everyone on testing. We have not been given the press in terms of fairness, and that is why i appreciated the statement before yahoo we are way ahead on testing and are the best in the world. We have tested much more than two andelse times tested more than any country combined. They keep talking about south moon, and hesident will tell you how well the United States has done and he told me that very strongly. The quality of our tests and the numbers are the best. We will be going to an even higher number and it goes up exponentially. We inherited a broken test in system and within a short period of time, we were setting records. We have done more than the entire world combined in more than any other country in the world. I think we have done a really good job. With that being said, not everybody feels as strongly about others. We have some governors who are strong on testing and we have other governors who are not as strong. There test is much more modest and the real test is when people stop getting sick and they will able to do that. I understand both systems. Testing. Ing to maximum are you confident you can surpass 5 million tests per day . Pres. Trump we will be there very soon if you look at the numbers, it could be that we are getting close. I dont have the numbers right now. We will be there soon. On nbced your report today and it was incorrect, because we are doing a great job on testing. Unfortunately, the administration and our government hasnt been given the credit it deserves. Last month, it was about ventilators minelli of so many we are able to give them to italy, france, spain, other countries who have and asking us for ventilators. We are making over 150,000 and have distributed thousands and thousands. New york is in great shape with what we have done, new jersey is in great shape. Ivanka just spoke with the governor and they are in good shape with ventilators. Thanof them have far more they will ever need and they are starting to send them back. No one went without a ventilator and if you read the media a month ago, it was all about ventilators and that was a tough thing. We should be proud of our country. We took Assembly Lines and converted from cars and other things into ventilators. The job we have seen has not seen since world war ii. What they have done in terms of manufacturing a very highgrade ventilators is amazing. Now we dont hear about that. I noticed the testing is dying down because we now have the best testing anywhere in the world, and that is a very good thing. Im happy about it. We had a call yesterday with governors and i will say that as im sure many of you were on that call and you know you should defend, shouldnt have been, but you heard the governors. Now the following day, if you get a democrat on the call, they will say i saw some of them today and they were thrilled and today they were good but they werent the same as yesterday, ecause it but we are zogby a jobbed likes of which nobody has ever done. And i am not talking about myself. I am talking about people in the army corps of engineers where we built hospitals, where we built thousands and thousands of beds all over the country. New york what we did was incredible. 2,900 beds in a matter of days. And fema what, they have done, and the doctors, and the professionals and all the people you see me with all the time, these are great people, and they have really done a great job. Now our country is opening up again, and i think it is going to be very, very successful. Larry is here. We talked about it, and we talk about it all the time. I think that Third Quarter it is obviously a transition quarter, but i think it is going to be ok, maybe better than ok. Larry thinks better than ok. Even more so than i do. And then i think Fourth Quarter will be great, and i think next year is going to be a tremendous year for this country. On the ppp loans, can you say who is going to be exactly will who be responsible . The f. D. A. Will be responsible. They will have a team of people. They will bring in additional people. I baun to assure the American Public and tax payers, we will make sure these certifications were done accurate or the loans wont be forgiven. [inaudible question] i think rich is hooking at it, as i do to an extent. He hawkeyes infrastructure. We all do. We have to rebuild our country. 8 trillion has been spent. Wasnt in favor of it i can tell you that, in the middle east. 8 trillion. And yet you wanted to fix a pot hole in a road way or highway in this country, and country do it because they didnt have the money because so much money was spent in the middle east. That is, as you know, a whole different story now. We want to do infrastructure, but a lot of the republicans would reich to keep that as a separate bill. We will see how that works out, jennifer. We will see. Mr. President , you said the worst of the pandemic is behind s. Like other things, we are going to hopefully we are going to come up with a vaccine. You never know, but tremendous progress has been made by johnson and johnson, and oxford. You have been hearing the same things as i do. Tremendous progress as been made, we think, on a vaccine. You have to test it, and that takes a period of time. But a lot of movement and progress has been made on a vaccine. What i think is going to happen is this is going to go away. Whether it comes back in a modified form in the fall, we will be able to handle it. We will be able to put out spurts, and we are very prepared to handle it we have learned about it, the invisible enemy. It is a bad enemy, very tough enemy, but we have learned a lot. It is in 184 countries as you hear me say often. It is awful, incon steefble. It should have been stopped at the source in china, but it wasnt. Now we have 184 countries going through hell. But i think that a lot of good things are going to happen, and i really believe that the Fourth Quarter is going to be maybe tremendous, and the next year has a chance to be really getting close to recordsetting. We hope so. We hope we can be back where we were. We had the strongest economy anywhere in the world, and i hope we are going to be back there again. Go ahead. Mr. President , you have spoken about your friend who passed away. I wonder if you have spope to the families of anyone else who have lost loved ones to covid19. Are there any particular stories that have affected you . I have many people. I know many stories. I have spoken to three, maybe more families unrepresented to me. I lost a very good friend. I also lost three our friends, two of whom i didnt know as well, but they were friends and people i did business with, and probably almost everybody in the room can. It is a bad death. It is a bad thing. It grips on to in people. Now we have found out that young people too extraordinaryry well. That is ya i think we can start thinking about schools. But of course we are ending the school season. You wouldnt be back for too long. I notice where purdue university, a great school and a great state, wants to open and have students come in. I think that is correct. Some colleges i think i saw harvard wants to have students come back in the fall. I would hope that they have students. I think the whole concept of computer learning is wonderful, or telelearning, but it is not the same thing as being in a classroom in a Great College or a college of any kind. College and university, you cant replace that. Young people do very well with this horrible scourge. They do very well. So i am going to see you tomorrow, and we will have other things to talk about. We have a lot of interesting things. I dont think we should have a News Conference today because this is a News Conference. In addition, it is a celebration of these incredible people that have done such a good job. I think we have found a couple of stars in this room today. I wont tell you who. This guy right here is the biggest star in the room. Right . [applause] i vote for you, ok . Great job you have done. I really appreciate it, too. I appreciate you being here.
