These events are made possible by our sponsors. Note their banners. We are appreciative of what they do. With politics index is the new England Council. Its a great partnership. The chairman and ceo is here. Them for theroduce purposes of an introduction. Jim brett. [applause] james well, good afternoon and welcome, everyone. I too want to thank the president , not just for that very kind word that neil and so many people here have worked with the new England Council for many, many years. James well, good afternoon and welcome, everyone. I too want to thank the president , not just for that very kind word that neil and so many people here have worked with the new England Council for many, many years. I think today is the 20th politics and eggs event that weve had this year. None of that would be possible without the incredible collaboration between this these two wonderful organizations, the institute here, and the new England Council. I want to say thank you to the staff of the new England Council end of the institute. And of course, a very, very deep gratitude to politics and eggs series sponsors, whose banners you see around the room. For their ongoing generosity, and support of this very, very important program. We are proud to be able to offer a forum for our regionss Business Leaders to hear from their president ial candidates and representatives during the president ial primary season. We cannot do that without generous support from our sponsors. We have the great honor today to welcome, as our speaker, the Vice President of the United States, the honorable mike pence. Vice president pence has a two decade long record of significant public service, was first elected to the house of representatives in 2000 and completed six terms as a congressman. And during that service, his colleagues chose him to serve as the chair of the House Republican Study Committee and the chair of the House Republican conference. In 2012, he was elected as governor of the great state of indiana. As governor, his support for progrowth policies paid off. He sponsored individual and business tax cuts to attract new investment to the hoosier state. And two of his priorities were a Public School education and transportation infrastructure. He increased school funding, expanded school choice, and created a prek program for his great state. He made career and Technical Education a priority in every public high school. As for transportation, he sponsored the investment of more than 800 million in new roads and bridges. At the same time, hes working to cut taxes. When he left office, indiana had a aaa credit rating. Not bad. Now hes back in washington, and rumor has it that he likes it there. And hed like to stay there a little longer. So, he just happens to be in the nation primary state to formally file the necessary paperwork to appear on the ballot as a candidate for renomination. New hampshire primary, after all, i believe is 96 days away, but who is counting . And on a personal note, it appears that he and i have something in common. The Vice President s grandfather immigrated to the United States from ireland in the early 1920s. He came from a little town in county sligo called tubbercurry. Well, guess what . In the early 1920s, my father also came to this country, also from tupper kerry. It was a small village. And the chances are good that the two man knew or knew of each other. Perhaps they were even cousins. Who knows . What we do know, and im sure that the Vice President will agree with me, is that were glad that those men made the decision to come to america, the land of opportunity. We are pleased that the Vice President could take the time to visit us at politics and eggs while hes here in this great state of New Hampshire. Would you please join me in giving a warm welcome to the 48th Vice President of the United States, the honorable mike pence . [applause] vice pres. Pence well, thank you all for that warm welcome and hello New Hampshire. Hello. Vice pres. Pence it is great to be back in the Granite State and to the doctor and saint Anthem College, to all the great Business Leaders for the new England Council including jim, would you give him a round of applause . I was just deeply moved by that great introduction. [applause] vice pres. Pence brett, the founder, and to all the extinguished elected officials and the fellow americans gathered here. Thank you for the welcome back to the home of the first in the nation primary in the state where a Movement Began. To make america strong again. To make america prosperous again, where a Movement Began to make America Great again. The great state of New Hampshire. [applause] vice pres. Pence it really is a privilege to be here with all of you, and all the great Business Leaders and students gathered today. And as i begin, allow me to bring greetings from a friend of mine. As i was landing in New Hampshire this morning, i told him that i was headed to the statehouse to file papers on his behalf, and he wanted me to convey his deepest regards and affection. He is someone who loves the Granite State and said to me again today that he will always be grateful for the confidence the people of New Hampshire placed in him in that first in the nation primary. I bring greetings from the 45th president of the United States of america, President Donald Trump. [applause] vice pres. Pence the president gave me the privilege today, as Vice President s have done before, to travel to New Hampshire to file his declaration of candidacy. And it was my honor, just a few hours ago, to place the name of President Donald Trump on the ballot for the New Hampshire republican president ial primary, scheduled for february 11, 2020. [applause] vice pres. Pence as jim just confirmed to us, its, i guess, 96 days away. It really is great to be here today. Its great to address politics and eggs. And really, to take a moment to make the case of the people of New Hampshire, and the people of america, that just as New Hampshire knew in that republican primary nearly four years ago, we now once again need New Hampshire and america to say yes to four more years of President Donald Trump in the white house. [applause] vice pres. Pence and the truth is, in voting to nominate President Donald Trump in the New Hampshire primary in 2016 republicans in this state did set into motion a movement and lead a shift that would transform our military, economy, and our courts. Here in New Hampshire, you launched a movement that nominated a candidate and elected a president who is making America Great again. And it is my great honor to be able to share the progress that weve made. Its amazing that weve done so much in just three short years. Despite endless investigations and democrat attempts to overturn the results of the 2016 election, President Donald Trump has never stopped delivering on the promises he made to the people of New Hampshire and the people of america. [applause] vice pres. Pence in fact, coming fresh from the statehouse, i think theres only one way you can describe the last three years. Its been three years of action, its been three years of results. Its been three years of promises made and promises kept. But were just getting started, folks, which is why we need four more years of President Donald Trump in the white house. [applause] vice pres. Pence four years ago, President Trump spoke on this very campus at this podium about his vision for america, and four years later, think about all that progress we have made in making that vision a reality. When you look at all that we have done, you have to conclude that President Donald Trump delivered. I mean, think about it. Weve rebuilt our military and restored the arsenal of democracy. The American Economy is booming. Weve cut illegal immigration in the southern border in half and just the past four months, and the president has appointed a Record Number of conservatives to our courts at every level. Jobs are back. Confidence is back. In a word, america is back New Hampshire, and were just getting started. [applause] vice pres. Pence i mean, think about it. Starting with our National Security to provide for the common defense is the first object. This president promised after years of reckless cutbacks to rebuild our military, and President Donald Trump delivered. In fact, this president has already signed the largest increases in our National Defense since the days of ronald ragan, and that includes the largest pay raise for our men and women in uniform in more than 10 years. [applause] vice pres. Pence i have to tell you, as the proud father of a United States marine, and very soon the fatherinlaw of a United States navy aviator, i couldnt be more proud to serve alongside a president who cares so deeply about the men and women of our armed forces and their families. Thanks to this president s leadership and strong support in the congress, were once again giving our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and coast guard resources and equipment they need to support to accomplish their mission to defend this nation. [applause] vice pres. Pence and with that renewed american strength, we are standing with our allies and up to our enemies. As i stand before you today, i report that our nato allies are contributing more to their common defense than ever before. We have taken the fight to radical islamic terrorists on our terms on their soil. In march of this year, at the direction of the commanderinchief, the United States armed forces captured every last inch of the isis caliphate in syria and iraq. [applause] vice pres. Pence and now, nearly two weeks ago, as the world watched, thanks to the courage of our armed forces, and the decisive leadership of President Donald Trump, the United States of america brought the worlds number one terrorist leader to justice. The leader of isis is dead and america and the world are safer as a result. [applause] vice pres. Pence i have to tell you, for all of my experiences in public service, sitting next to the president in the situation room, watching in real time as u. S. Special forces descended on that compound in is the province in Northern Syria was deeply inspiring. And men and women, ill tell you, we have the finest military in the history of the world, and they proved it one more time in that operation. [applause] vice pres. Pence incredible. So, weve strengthen our National Security, restored americas standing in the world. In so many ways, america is standing tall again. Were putting America First again. Were closer to home, as a candidate, our president told the people of New Hampshire four years ago that we could revive the American Economy. After over the last after over tt administration for eight years , the most powerful economy in the world had grown then less than 2 on average. President donald trump said that we could do better, and President Donald Trump delivered. The president went right to work, to cut taxes for working families and businesses across the board, and before our first year was out, President Donald Trump signed the largest tax cuts in american history. The president s also someone who made a lifetime and grew up in a Family Business like so many of you in this room. And he understood that its not just taxes. Its red tape. And i am proud to report that in three short years, President Donald Trump has signed more bills repealing federal redtape than any president in american history. [applause] vice pres. Pence back when he was campaigning through New Hampshire, i remember the promise. He promised that for every new regulation we put on the books that we would cut two regulations on businesses and Enterprises Across this nation. But i have to admit to you that we didnt exactly hit that mark. As i stand before you today, this president has eliminated eight federal regulations for every new regulation thats put on the books, unleashing an American Economic renaissance. In fact, we predict that when all is said and done, President Trumps deregulatory agenda will save our economy 220 billion a year and that its costs that will be saved by businesses represented here. Beyond all of that, weve unleashed American Energy like never before. I am proud to report that the United States of america is the largest producer of oil and natural gas in the world, and next year, for the first time in 70 years america will be a net exporter of energy to the world. Were on the road to energy independence. [applause] vice pres. Pence and were not just exporting energy. This president s been working from the early days to open up markets around the world. Weve opened european markets to more American Farm products, renegotiated our trade agreement with south korea. Weve reached two more with japan and President Trump has put china on notice that the era of economic surrender is over and the negotiations are ongoing. But i promise you, in our negotiations with china, this president will always put american jobs, american agriculture, and America First. [applause] vice pres. Pence beyond all of those trade negotiations, im also proud to report that its been a little bit over a year and President Trump negotiated the largest trade deal in american history. Its called the u. S. Mexico, canada agreement, usmca for short periods according to the International Trade commission, it will add 68 billion to our economy and create more than 175,000 american jobs. Now, as i said, tht president negotiated that deal over a year ago. And as i stand before you today in New Hampshire, the usmca is sitting on the desk of the speaker of the house in washington, d. C. And so while im here, let me just call on each one of you, great Business Leaders and entrepreneurs all across this great state, and frankly all of you across new england and america. Lend your support today, reach out to your elected officials in washington, d. C. And tell them that New Hampshire, new england, and america need the usmca and we need it this year. [applause] vice pres. Pence so, its been about cutting taxes, rolling back regulation, unleashing American Energy and negotiating free and fair trade. And the results have just been incredible. When you think about what this president s agenda has meant to this economy, its hard to keep up with all the progress were making. Since election day 2016, businesses large and small have created 6. 7 million good paying jobs including 17,000 jobs right here in the Granite State. [applause] vice pres. Pence i dont have to tell you that the stock market is breaking records left and right. In fact, earlier this week, all three of the stock market indexes set a record in a single day, making a difference in the lives of working families. I mean, i know the president often reflects that he had a fellow walk up to him and thank him for what was happening on the stock market and he said, mr. President , all youre doing for my economy, you make my wife think that im a financial genius because their 401 k is rising. This is security for american pensioners. Everyone is benefiting from the growth. Its amazing. In just three short years, the Dow Jones Industrial average is up by 9000 points, and the now dow increased and more points in the last three years than in the previous seven. More americans also, more americans are benefiting from this economy because as i stand before you, there are more americans working today than ever before in the history of this country. [applause] vice pres. Pence in fact, now, for more than a year and a half, and these college kids will be excited to hear it here at saint Anthem College saint annes lung college, there are more job openings in America Today than there are americans looking for work. The American People know it. Ill never forget that karen and i slipped away for a long day and a half vacation the other day. We were sitting on the beach at one of our favorite spots in florida. And these two big boys came walking by wearing budweiser shirts. And we had our ball caps on and we were sitting there in sunglasses and one fellow looks at me and said youre pence, arent you . I said yes, sir, i am. I just have to say hello, and he said could you give them give the president a message for me . He said, you tell the president to keep doing what hes doing because ive made twice as much money last year as i made the year before. His friend was nodding just the same. And i said, i will tell the president exactly what you said. He smiled, took two steps away and looked at me and said and i dont know what you do but keep doing what youre doing, too. The truth is, the American People are feeling it. There are one million more job openings in america than americans looking for work. The Unemployment Rate today has dropped to a near 50 year low. The Unemployment Rate for women is at a 65 year low. Weve seen the lowest unemployment recorded for africanamericans americans and hispanic americans, the American Dream is working for every american. [applause] vice pres. Pence i mean, its incredible. And people feel it. Its working across the country. The Unemployment Rate is below 5 in 48 states, and 4 in 45 states. 2. 5 unemployment making New Hampshire tied for the Second Lowest Unemployment Rate in america. Great job, New Hampshire. Wow. [applause] vice pres. Pence and you know what . So its more jobs, but its also better jobs. Under this president s leadership, the average household has seen their disposable income go up by more than 5,000 a year. Wages are rising at their fastest pace in more than a decade. And most importantly to the president and me, is that wages are rising most rapidly for hardworking, bluecollar americans, the forgotten men and women of america are forgotten no more. [applause] vice pres. Pence and thanks to the president s agenda, thanks to the confidence that republicans placed in the candidate who filed just about four years ago this week, america is prospering like never before. But this president also knows that the foundation of our prosperity is security, and i want to assure you, here in New Hampshire, that for the first day of this administration, this president and our entire team have been working to keep our communities and country safe. Working closely with governor chris sununu, weve taken drug dealers off our streets. Since 2017, the dea has removed more than 26 tons of opioids from american communities. And over the last three years, i am proud to report, in Strong Partnership with local and state Law Enforcement and places all across this country over the last three years, opioidrelated prosecutions have gone up by 40 . Were getting serious and leaning in to the fight against drug dealers in this country. [applause] vice pres. Pence in this past year in New Hampshire, federal prosecutors charged more than double the number of drug defendants and in 2016 alone. And these efforts are bringing relief to some communities, like those in southern New Hampshire. Some communities have been hit the hardest, the communities across this region and the state. In fact, i really do want to commend governor chris sununu, who has leaned into this effort with a strong commitment to Law Enforcement and treatment. Would you join me in thanking governor chris sununu and all he has done to combat opioid abuse in this state . [applause] vice pres. Pence hes done a great job. In fact, in Strong Partnership with New Hampshire and states across this nation, i am proud to report we have made progress. Drug overdose rates have gone down here in New Hampshire over the last three years, in particular. The truth is were making progress. Its modest progress, but i promise you, this president , this administration, will not rust or relent until we bring rest or relent until we bring the scourge of opioid abuse and addiction to an end. [applause] vice pres. Pence so, were standing up for our National Security, keeping communities safe, growing the American Economy its all been what has happened the last three days since that primary election day where republicans in New Hampshire saw a leader that could make this country great again. But lastly, as we celebrated in the east room in the white house yesterday, i know here in the live free or die state, i know how grateful you all are that this president kept his word, and as i stand before you today, has appointed more than 150 conservative judges to our federal courts at every level, including Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett kavanaugh. [applause] vice pres. Pence it was remarkable. We met yesterday at the white house with republican members of the Senate Judiciary committee. And they reflected on how, as a candidate, our president took the unprecedented step of literally publishing a list of people that he would draw from, men and women who believed in applying the constitution from an originalist basis, who believed in interpreting laws as written and not legislating from the bench. And i can tell you, having the privilege to interview all the finalists for those last two Supreme Court nominations having met many of the men and women that have been confirmed to our courts, this is an entire generation of judges added to our federal courts at every level who will support all that godgiven liberties enshrined in our constitution, like the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech, and the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. [applause] vice pres. Pence so, weve made great progress. Weve made great progress in this country for security, for our economy, for our highest and cherished ideals. But let me also say i couldnt be more proud to serve as Vice President to the most prolife president in american history, and under this president , this party and this movement will always stand for the right to life. [applause] vice pres. Pence so, in just three years, america and New Hampshire are winning again. And under President Donald Trump, were going to keep on winning. We have made America Great again, but to keep America Great, we have work to do. Thats why he gave me the great privilege today to add his name to the ballot here in this firstinthe nation primary state. The truth is, in New Hampshire and america very soon, we will have a choice to make. Were now in an election year. It will be a choice on whether we stay on the path that has created on unprecedented security in this country, or if will take a hard left turn that the people in New Hampshire are hearing a lot about from all the people running for the other partys nomination. I mean, america is stronger than ever before. Were more prosperous than ever before. But the truth is, all that progress could be lost in one bad day in november a year from now. If the policies advocated by democrats running for president take hold in the white house, well go back to deep cuts in our military. Well go back to policies that would wreck the economy and take us back to what they used to call in the last administration, the new normal of weak economic growth. I mean, think about it. Where this president cut taxes, every single one of them is talking about raising taxes. Where weve rolled back red tape, they are committed to piling it on. More command and control coming out of washington, d. C. For businesses large and small. Where weve unleashed energy and innovation, theyll rain it reign it back in. And lastly, its remarkable to see leading candidates for the highest office in the land in the Democratic Party today that are advocating for ideas like abolishing private health insurance, legalizing illegal immigration. I mean, its extraordinary to think how far left the other party has gone. You know, i watched that last democratic debate. Its, kind of, my job i figure theres a Vice President ial nominee in there somewhere. But i have to tell you, they were all standing so far on the left i thought that stage was going to tip over. I really did. I mean, if you ran up all the numbers of all the things they are talking about every budgetbusting proposal youre talking about from medicare to all to the green new deal, it would actually cost the average tax holder 70,000 a year. People of New Hampshire no. Know. They actually know that we can do better. Here in the live free or die state, its not freedom. Its about opening up opportunities. Here, as you stand with a border with canada, i was told that even though New Hampshire exports more than 1 billion of goods and services to our neighbors to the north and south, not one democrat running for president today is supporting the usmca. I mean literally, on one issue after another, the democrats running for president want to take us back in the direction of a weaker National Defense, a weaker national economy, let alone walking away from the timeless ideals and values that make this country great, make our families strong. In fact, i think whats most remarkable to me, finally, is that leading candidates for the Democratic Party, for president of the United States, openly advocate an Economic System that has impoverished millions and robbed the liberties of generations in the last century. That system is called socialism. I mean, the truth is, those arent the values that are synonymous with New Hampshire. And the people in the Granite State live by the words of that revolutionary war hero, general john stark. And ive recited the more than of them more than once today. What you understand is it is its freedom. The people in New Hampshire know , better than most, from your rich and meaningful history in the state that it was freedom, not socialism, that gave us the most prosperous and powerful nation in the history of the world. It was freedom. [applause] vice pres. Pence it was freedom, not socialism, that ended slavery, won two the world wars, and has america standing as a beacon of hope for all the world. I believe the moment becomes a socialist country is the moment america ceases to be america. I believe its incumbent on all of us, maybe especially you here in this first in the nation primary state, to say with one voice, as President Trump said in his state of the union address, america will never be a socialist country. [applause] vice pres. Pence you know, the truth of the matter is its not just going to be about winning the next election. We have to win the next generation. Its incumbent on each of us to explain to americans in the rising generation where our strength comes from, where our prosperity comes from. New hampshire has always been a beacon of those american ideals and values. You know, the truth is, as the election is now less than a year away, people always say that its the most important election of our lifetime. I mean its especially true this time. The stakes have never been higher. The choices have never been clearer. By reelecting President Donald Trump, we will build on the momentum that has made America Great again and security, securing our borders, prospering our economy through American Freedom and strengthening the foundations of constitutional liberties that americans have defended throughout our long and storied history. And the contrast is, if the election were to go the other way, those gains could be wiped out, with less investment in our National Defense, more taxes, more regulation, declining savings for america, and economic surrender abroad, let alone walking away from the values that strengthen our nation. But let me tell you something from my heart. As democrats in washington spend their time on endless investigations and partisan impeachment, ill make you a promise. President donald trump and i are never going to stop fighting to keep the promises we made to the people of New Hampshire and the people of america. [applause] vice pres. Pence were never going to stop fighting to keep the promises that have made this country more secure, that it that made this country more prosperous. You know, four years ago, President Trump came here to saint anselm and he made a promise to make America Great. And the people of New Hampshire in the republican primary for put their confidence in him, as many did across this state and this nation. Ill tell you, id be excited to be back in New Hampshire again and again and excited to be in new and went again. The truth of the matter is three it is a record of promises made and promises cap. Welcome. For the warm i have delivered the one i received. Not the other. I leave with confidence and gratitude. Thank you for the warm welcome. Around of applause. [applause] i leave you today fresh from the privilege of having placed the my friend and our president on the ballot. An incredible privilege for me. It truly was. I live here today interpret and confidence that with your continued support all across the ground state, President Donald Trump will be in the white house for four more years. We are going to keep New Hampshire going. We will keep america winning. We are going to make america stronger than ever before. , with donald years trump in the white house and with gods help, the best is to. Ome god bless you and god bless america. Only in america.
