One of the things that Prime Minister abe has also agreed to is we have excess corn in various parts of our country with our farmers, because china did not do what they said they were going to do and Prime Minister abe on behalf of japan are going to be buying all of that corn and thats a very big transaction. They will be buying it from our farmers. So, the deal is done in principle. We probably will be signing at around unga, around the date of unga, we all look forward to. We are very far down the line. We have agreed to every point and now we are papering it and we will be signing at a formal ceremony. And i just want to thank Prime Minister abe and the japanese people. You have been a fantastic friend and we very much appreciate it. This is a tremendous deal for the United States, a tremendous deal for our farmers and agricultural ranchers and also other things including as i said, ecommerce. So its very big and we look forward to it and thank you very much. [speaking japanese] [speaking japanese] [speaking japanese] with regard to the japanu. S. Trade agreement, a series of intensive negotiations has been conducted with ambassador lighthizer in line with the u. S. Japan joint statement on september 26. By now, we successfully have reached consensus with regard to the corn element of both the agricultural and industrial products, and i certainly welcome this development. [speaking japanese] mr. President has pointed out next month at the end of september, both of us are going to attend the uns General Assembly, and on that occasion, we will have the bilateral summit meeting and we would like to set the goal of signing this japanu. S. Trade agreement and seizing that opportunity. We still have some remaining work that has to be done at the working level, namely finalizing the wording of the trade agreement and also finalizing the content of the agreement. But we would like to make sure that our team will accelerate the remaining work, so as to achieve this goal, reaching the signing of this agreement at the General Assembly at the end of september. [speaking japanese] and i am very happy that both of our teams have been working on this specific issue in a winwin manner, bringing both the benefits to japan and the United States. If we are to see an entry into the course of this trade agreement, im quite sure that there will be immense positive impact on both the japanese and american economies. Pres. Trump perhaps you may want to discuss the additional purchase of all of that corn, because we have a tremendous amount right now, and we are working with farmers in making very, very large payments for the unfair way they were treated by china. The farmers are very happy, they like their president. They are very happy. But i think it is even better and they are even happier when they hear you are actually buying their product. So perhaps you could say a couple of words about the hundreds of millions of dollars of corn, existing corn that you will be buying. [speaking japanese] [speaking japanese] with regard to the potential purchase of american corn, in japan, we are now experiencing insect pests on some of the agricultural product. And there is a need for us to buy a certain amount of the Agricultural Products, and this will be done by the japanese private sector, thats japanese corporations that will need to buy additional Agricultural Products. And we believe that there is a need for us to implement Emergency Support measures for the japanese private sector to have the early purchase of the american corn. Of course, some think there is a shared understanding by the japanese public and the japanese private sector, as well. I do think that there is a possibility for us to cooperate to address this issue. With regard to further details, i would like to continue discussing with you, mr. President. Pres. Trump and the japanese private sector listens to the japanese Public Sector very strongly. I am not sure. It is a little different in our country, perhaps, but they have Great Respect for the Public Sector. So when i hear the private sector has agreed to this, we are very happy. I would just like to ask bob and your counterpart if you would like to say a few words. [speaking japanese] thank you, mr. President , Prime Minister. First of all, what we have is an agreement on principle, it has three parts. Agriculture, industrial tariffs, and physical trade. And from our point of view, it is extremely important for our farmers and ranchers and those people who work in the digital space. We will give them the details at another time. But generally, japan is our thirdlargest agricultural market, they import about 14 billion of u. S. Agricultural products. And this will open up markets to over 7 billion of those products. [speaking japanese] [speaking japanese] in the agriculture area, it will be a major benefit for beef, pork, meat, dairy products, wine, ethanol, and a variety of other products. [speaking japanese] it will lead to substantial reductions in tariff and nontariff barriers across the board, and i will just give you one example. Japan is by far our biggest beef market. We sell over 2 billion worth of beef to japan, and this will allow us to do so with lower tariffs and compete more effectively with people across the board, particularly the tpp countries and europe. [speaking japanese] so it is very good news for our farmers and ranchers, but its also good news for those who work in the digital ecommerce space, where it is the Gold Standard of an international agreement. This is an area that not only has been important to the president , but is of particular importance to the Prime Minister. [speaking japanese] so, we are very excited about this agreement. We look forward to finishing the additional work and having it be implemented as soon as possible, in japan and the United States. [speaking japanese] pres. Trump thank you. [speaking japanese] as the Prime Minister mentioned, based on the japanu. S. Joint Statement Released by the leaders on the 26 of september last year, a negotiation on japans u. S. Trade agreement. [speaking japanese] as we all know, the United States is the largest economy in the world, whereas japan is also ranked third in terms of the total gdp. We are the very first and the second largest economies, and with this milestone achievement, we now have the full concurrent on various issues covering the Agricultural Products and also the digital and ecommerce. The significance of this achievement cannot be overemphasized, and i am very happy to share this important achievement with you. [speaking japanese] and on this occasion, myself and ambassador lighthizer had a chance to present what we had agreed of gaining endorsement from President Trump and also Prime Minister abe. The key mission for myself and ambassador lighthizer is to complete the remaining work as soon as possible. Of course, i have my own team, which is focused on completing the remaining work, and i certainly hope that by working handinhand between myself and ambassador lighthizer and also the japanese and american teams, we would like to complete the remaining work as soon as possible. Pres. Trump thank you very much, i appreciate it. Mr. President , will auto tariffs remain in place . Pres. Trump with regard to china . With regard to japan. There are a series of industrial tariffs that are being reduced. Auto tariffs are not in that group. So they remain . Pres. Trump it depends, are you talking about japan or china . China is a very different thing. Let me hear your answer. Pres. Trump i can tell you, in china, they remain. In japan, they stay the same. They are staying the same. This is a massive purchase of wheat, also, in addition to everything else. This is a very Large Purchase of wheat. And the very, very large order of corn will go quickly. But importantly, we may do that as a supplementary agreement, but we appreciate that very much. We just agreed to that on the other side of the door. I appreciate that very much. We are doing a great job and the farmers are very thankful. [speaking japanese] mr. President , on a separate issue, there are reports that the Iranian Foreign minister is coming. Can you confirm that . Pres. Trump no comment. [speaking japanese] pres. Trump thank you very much. Trump held a working breakfast with british Prime MinisterBoris Johnson at the g7 summit. The president told reporters the u. S. And u. K. Were working on a trade deal and expect to Reach Agreement quickly. Pres. Trump thank you ver
