Out today which im sure you saw. We are doing very well. The economy is incredible. The consumer is doing incredible and go ahead. We will have a very long time of wealth and success. Other countries are doing very poorly. China is doing very poorly. The tariffs have been into china. They havent been into us at all except for the reporters that make us want to look that way. Weve taken in close to 60 billion in tariff money. The consumer has not paid for it. At some point, they may have to pay something. They understand that. Our farmers understand that. They know we had to do something about china. We are doing something about china. That being said, we are having good discussions with china. They very much want to make a deal. We will see what happens. We had a deal and they decided not to make it. Now, i think they would have liked to have had that opportunity again. I think they missed a great opportunity. I think they feel that they missed a great opportunity. China very much wants to make a deal. We are talking to them. We will see what happens. Yeah . Why do you feel the need to get involved with the israel . Resswomen and President Trump im only involved from the standpoint of, they are very antijewish and antiisrael. I think its disgraceful, the things theyve said. This isnt just a one line mistake. What they said about israel and jewish people is a horrible thing. Theyve become the face of the democrat party. I did absolutely put out a very strong statement. If you look at their language, what theyve said, if i ever said it, it would be awful. It would be a horrible month. To put it mildly, so the things , the thingsid theyve said, omar, tlaib, its disgraceful. I dont know why israel would let them in. If they want to, they can. I cant imagine why. Reporter do you worry that a prolonged trade war with china will pitch the u. S. Into a recession . Pres. Trump i think the longer the trade war goes on, the weaker china gets and the stronger we get. We are taking in masses of money. The longer it goes, the stronger we get. I have a feeling it will go short. I think china has lost millions of jobs. You saw that reported today. Thousands of companies are closing in china. I dont know. Maybe they want to do this for a year. They would love to have somebody like biden who doesnt know what hes doing. He said, we want to build up china. We want to build up china. They gave us a very strong china. China has taken out over 500 billion a year from our country. For many years. Thats not going to happen anymore. Reporter how concerned are you about a violent cha crackdown by the chinese and hong kong . Trump im very concerned. I put a memo out last night. These are men i like a lot. I said, i would be willing to bet that if he sat down with the protesters, a group of representative protesters, he would work it out in 15 minutes. I bet he would work it out very quickly. I know its not the kind of thing he does. I wouldnt it wouldnt be a bad idea. They have a certain little leadership role. If he sat down with them, he would work something out very quickly. It seems like things that could be worked out easily. Did you speak to Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu pres. Trump i dont have comments about who i spoke to. I think my social Media Statement speaks for itself. They are so antiisrael and antijewish. If other people made that statement, there wouldve been hell to pay. Reporter china said they want to retaliate. They will retaliate because of the terrace, what is your response to that . Pres. Trump if they did retaliate, which i dont think they will do because we are talking to them and they are offering things that are very good. I dont think they will retaliate. If they did, we have the ultimate form of retaliation. I think they have very few jobs left in china. We would be able to step it up. Just so you understand, ive been very mild about it. Theres a long way i can go. Somebody had to take on what was happening with china. We cant allow china to take out of our country 507 billion every year. Not including intellectual property theft and so many other things. We are having very good talks with china. I think things will happen but we will see. Reporter if they do retaliate, will you want your team to be with them in september as planned . Pres. Trump september, the meeting is still long as i understand it. More importantly, we are talking by phone. We are having productive talks. They would like to do something. I will tell you that, and the talk we had a few days ago with my two representatives, nobody knew what was on that talk except for myself, china, and those people. Two that was a very good conversation. Do you want jay powell to cut Interest Rates some more . Pres. Trump jay powell should be cutting rates because every country all over the world is cutting. We want to stay even. I dont mind if we are higher. We have better credit. We are way too high. Jay powell made a big mistake. He raised them too fast and also quantitative tightened. That was a big mistake. 50 billion a month. It put us in a position interestingly, even with normalized Interest Rates, president obama was paying nothing. We have a much better economy. You have to look at our economy also from the day after my my election. We picked up tremendous esteem the day after the election. When somebody says from january 20, not from january 20. Its from november 9. The day after the election. The fact that i won lifted our economy greatly. If i didnt win, it would go down. Frankly, if that happened for some reason that happened in the 2020 election, youll see this economy go down the tubes. Ill tell you that right now. Reporter do you have any idea on when china will follow through on their ag purchases and crackdown on fentanyl . Pres. Trump they want to follow through very quickly. This is part of the conversation that we had. They had a special representative come over and talk to us. A Different Group and a very strong message to me. They want to start doing that very quickly. Ill be honest, im not there yet. Not china. Im not there yet. We will see what happens. I would really like to see china in a humane way solve the problem and hong kong. Humanely solve the problem and in hong kong. They could do it very quickly. I said yesterday, i have a lot of confidence in president xi. I know if they sat down with their representatives, i have no doubt he would solve that problem quickly. Reporter [inaudible] pres. Trump i dont encourage or discourage. I think if israel allowed them to come in for the normal reasons, other than those reasons, i believe it would be a terrible thing for israel. It would show a terrible sign. They want to do boycotts. They said horrible things about jewish people. They said horrible things about israel and israelis. I think it would be a terrible thing, frankly, for israel to let these two people who speak so badly about israel come in. They have become the face of the democrats. The democrats dont want to do anything to condemn them. If they were if this were 10 years ago or a different time or different people, or whatever, they would be condemned for the things theyve said. Theyve said some of the worst things ive ever heard said about israel. How can israel say, welcome . I dont think it would be a good thing for israel. Reporter do you think that steve king needs to resign . Pres. Trump i dont know the situation with steve king. Thatd a statement supposedly he made. I havent been briefed on it. It wasnt a very good statement. Reporter i think you are going to meet with boris johnson. Are you going to have some sort of declaration of intent for a deal . Are you going to have some sort of declaration about the intent to steal a trade deal with britain . Pres. Trump we are dealing with the u. K. We will have a great deal made. I am dealing with boris johnson. I spoke to him yesterday. I will speak to him again. He and i are aligned. We feel good about each other. We will make a fantastic deal with the u. K. We should do more business than we are doing with the u. K. I dont want to say they are our closest i dont want to insult other people. They are certainly one of our closest allies anywhere in the world. We will have a fantastic relationship with u. K. And a great trade deal. Thats moving along rapidly. We are looking at the whole gun situation. I do want people to remember the words Mental Illness. These people are mentally ill. Nobody talked about that. These are mentally ill people. People have to start thinking about it. I think we have to Start Building institutions again. If you look at the 1960s and 1970s, so many of these institutions were closed. The people were allowed to go onto the streets. That was a terrible thing for our country. They closed them. Cities couldnt afford them. They closed them. In new york, they closed a lot of them. People went out. They went on to the streets. Its a terrible thing. A lot of our conversation has to do with the fact that we have to open up institutions. We cant let these people be on the streets. We have a tremendous crowd in new hampshire. Its all over the place, everybody is saying, wow. Our competitor has no crowd. I dont know what that means. I assume that is a poll of some kind, but i think we will do very well in new hampshire. New hampshire shouldve been one won last time. Except we had a lot of people come in at the last moment which was a rather strange situation. Thousands and thousands of people coming in from locationss unknown, but i knew where the location was. [inaudible] i think we will have a tremendous success in new hampshire. These are great people, and the relationship is very good. [inaudible] we are looking at it. I feel very badly. I think he was very harshly sentenced, but we are looking at it strongly. People feel strongly about that. I floated it, and wanted to see where the democrats stood, the republicans stood. People feel strongly about rod rodwhich rock lugo event blagojevich. What he did was terrible, but it has been a long time. Have you been pushing Mitch Mcconnell on background checks . I have been dealing with Mitch Mcconnell, a man we have had tremendous success with in judicial appointments. We will be up to 179 federal judges in the next two months. Nobody would have believed that was possible, and thats because president obama was unable to get them completed, so i inherited about 138 empty seats. Nobody can believe it. We will have them almost all filled with tremendous judges, tremendously talented, smart people, filled within two months. 179 judges, two Supreme Court justices, something nobody would have ever thought possible. I want to thank very much president obama for that. Asking about background checks for gun owners . I have been speaking to mitch about that. I have been speaking to everybody about that. We dont want to see crazy people owning guns, but we also want to remember that Mental Illness is something nobody wants to talk about. These people are mentally ill, and we have to study that also. Because you know it is them that pull the trigger. The gun doesnt pull the trigger, so we have to look seriously at Mental Illness, and we are doing that at a level that. Hasnt been done before. Besides the Senate Majority leader and pat toomey, anyone else you are talking to . To many republicans. Ill tell you, it has been an amazing experience. They want to see some thing happen, and it is simple, they dont want to have insane people, dangerous people, really bad people having guns. Republicans agree. I would say, pretty much uniformly. Do you think this will be easy to do when the senate comes back . If we came up with a good bill, i think the democrats might then up it, and do things that cant be done, that the public wouldnt want done. I hope that wouldnt happen, but has happened in the past. Do you support universal background checks . I support strong, meaningful background checks, where people who should not have guns, people that are insane, people that are mentally ill, people that are bad, bad people like this guy in philadelphia, who had been arrested numerous times. Hes a bad guy. People like that would not have guns. Frankly, people like that should be locked up. He shouldnt have even been on the street. Thank you. Thank you very much.
