Andrew yang with live coverage on cspan. Mr. Yang so much love. What does math stand for . Make america think harder, thats right. The opposite of donald trump is an asian man who likes math, and that is this guy. What do we mean by make america think harder . I am not a career politician but a Problem Solver and i want to wake up america to the real problems that got donald trump elected. If you were to turn on cable news, why would you think donald trump is our president . Why did donald trump when iowa by nine i by nine points . Russia. Emails. Facebook. Hillary clinton. [laughter] mr. Yang the driving force behind Donald Trumps victory got madee on them of 4 million jobs in ohio, michigan, pennsylvania, wisconsin, missouri, at 40,000 in iowa. Think about the 40,000 jobs in iowa, 40,000 families and not just manufacturing jobs but if you go to the shopping district or what used to be the shopping district, what do you see . How many of you know to Stores Closing where you work and live . 30 of americas stores and malls are closing in the next four years. Why is that . Amazon. Mr. Yang amazon, that is right. They are soaking up 20 billion to 39 and commerce every year and how much do you see . How must it they pay in taxes last year . Zero. Mr. Yang thats right. They suck up 20 million, 30 but he knows from your community and your stores and malls close and people lose their jobs. The most common job in iowa and the United States is a retail worker, the average retail worker is a 39 euros woman aching between nine dollars and 10yearold 99yearold woman making between nine dollars and 10. 39 euros woman making between nine dollars and 10 for our. Amazon pays zero in taxes and how is that possible that they couldnt less than everyone here. Corruption, a one word action answer. Money is overrunning our system and amazon is laughing its way to the bank. It is not just manufacturing or amazon, closing the retails to closing the Retail Stores but my friends in Silicon Valley are working on cars and trucks that could drive themselves. Take about what that will mean in the, i was just countrys largest truck spot trucks bought truckstop. They have 5000 people stop by every day. What will happen in 510 years when the truck start to drive themselves . Driving a truck is the most common job in 29 states including this one. Raise your hand if you know a truck driver. My friends in Silicon Valley are working on trucks that can drive themselves for the most american of reasons, the money. Billion per year in cost savings if they can successfully given of Truck Driving jobs. That is a lot of money. An unthinkable amount of money. So much money that if you are an investor and someone comes to you and says, if you invest 1 billion in my company i can get rid of truck drivers, you make that bet and they hire hundreds of the smartest engineers who are working on that problem right now and they tell me they are 98 of the way there. They are to present from getting 2 from getting away from truck drivers, that is a big 2 because you cannot have them crashing into things at a 2 rate. A bet against these engineers and investors solving the last 2 is a losing bet because you are betting against the mass of our and technology entire society trying to get rid of truck drivers. The will that mean for three point 5 million americans who drive a truck for a living or the seven main americans who work in truck stops and hotels and diners that rely on the truckers getting out and having a meal . These are the real problems of our time. We are in the midst of the greatest Economic Transformation in our countrys history, what experts call the forced industrial revolution. Fourth industrial revolution. When have you heard politicians say that . Now is the first time and i am barely politician. [laughter] mr. Yang i spent the last seven years creating thousands of jobs around the country and people were patting me on the back and giving me metals. But you dont get it, i was pouring the water is rushing out the bottom and it got donald trump elected and is about to take off. I will use one last example on the technology front. When you call a Customer Service line, you get the bot, what do you do . Human,nd 000, human, human you say into the phone until you get a human. I do the same thing. We all do it. In two or three years the pot was sound like this, hey, andrew, how is it going . It will be efficient and delightful and you may not know if the software. The will that mean for hundreds of thousands of americans who worked at call centers for a living right now who make an average 14 for our . This is a buzz saw and it is carried through many different parts of our economy. I was an unhappy attorney for five months and i can guarantee you can automate that job. [laughter] mr. Yang software can go through document review and the contracts better and faster than the human. We are in this incredible epic transformation and our politicians are not talking about it. Tonow this because i went washington, d. C. And 2017 as a what will we do about the fact that technology is ripping apart our labor force . Immigrants are getting scapegoated but they have nothing to do with it. [applause] what do you think the good folks in washington, d. C. Said to me when i felt what will we do about the fact that americans are going to a fundamental transformation . They are doing nothing. That is right they are doing nothing. Some said we cannot talk about that. Number two, we should study that. Must educate we and retrain all americans for the jobs of the future. The last one sounds decent and responsible. But i did the math and the you want to guess how effective governmentfunded reTraining Programs were for the manufacturing workers in iowa . 15 , a failing grade by any curve. Half of the manufacturing workers have lost their jobs left the workforce and never worked again. That group have filed for disability and we saw surges in drug overdoses and suicides in the communities to the point where our Life Expectancy as a country has declined for the last three years. The last time american Life Expectancy the client three is in a rut declined three years in a row . Spanish flu of 1918. 100 years. We are in this territory because our society and economy is not working for us. The folks in washington, d. C. Will do nothing about this. Saidne in washington something that brought me here to you today in iowa. He said, you are in the wrong town. Washington will do anything because this is not a town of leaders by the town of followers and the only way we would do anything is if you coordinate a wave create a wave in other parts of the country that crashes us. I said, challenge excepted. [laughter] mr. Yang this is the ideal place to create a wave and bring it crashing down on washington, d. C. You do not need that many islands to start a revolution iowans to start a revolution. One iowan is worth 1000 californians. This is how you start a revolution in iowa. [applause] mr. Yang because all you need 40,000 iowans and division the vision sweeps the country. How do we solve this . If you know anything about me you have heard there is an asian man running for president was to give everyone 1000 for month. [applause] mr. Yang those three things are all true. [laughter] time you heard this 1000 a month you laughed and said it was a gimmick. It can never happen. 1000 a month dividend has been with the country since our founding. Thomas payne was for it and called it the civet is citizens dividend and Martin Luther king fought for it and called it a guaranteed income and he was fighting for when he was assassinated in 1968, a Poor Peoples Campaign today, 1000 economist endorsed it in the 1970s. It was so mainstream if passed u. S. House of representatives twice in 1971 and came this close to being law. One state passed a dividend about 10 years later where everyone in the state now gets between 1000 and 2000 per year with no questions asked, what say does that . Alaska. Mr. Yang how do they pay for it . Oil. Mr. Yang what is the oil of the 21st century . Technology. Mr. Yang they call it the oil check in the last and they love it and we will call this the tech check and we will all love it. If you think, how can you afford 1000 per month for every american, amazon is paying zero in taxes and google, facebook, er, these Tech Companies are investing billions in ai. , and you will see zero. We have to change that and make the economy work for us, the owners and shareholders of this country. This is the vision for a trickle up economy, from our people and families and communities up. I spoke to people on the way in who were laughing about the fact not the trump tax cut did get money into our hands and trickle down economy doesnt work. They said the best way to get money into the economy is to give it to us because what would we spend it on . Shout it out. Tuition. Car repair, ition, child care, day care, housing, Little League signups. How much of that money would stay here in iowa . Not all of it but most of it. Some of it would go to amazon and the gang, by a next her toaster. Toas anxt her of extra toaster. It would give rural areas a path forward because they are being depleted. If you are a rural area, what happens when your kids, page . They have to when your kids age . They have to leave and that is not the way should be in the United States of america. This is the freedom dividend and nothing stopping us from making it happen, nothing stopping us from passing a dividend, companies do it all the time every day and when they do it what do we say . We say great job, good , theyment, verizon, coke give money to shareholders and we are the owners of this country. We can return some of it to ourselves and the only way we would get it back. This country follows the almighty dollar and the thing to do is give us all more dollars. That is the basic plan. This is the big vision of the economy that would work for us but we cannot stop there. How many were excited about gdp when you woke up this morning . Like, i of you were will make a big contribution to gdp, i can feel it . At recordnot, gdp is highs and you know what else our record highs in america . Anxiety, depression, mental illness. Suicide. Drug overdoses. It is all heading in the wrong direction. How many of you run a business or organization, if you have the wrong measurements, you will never go anywhere. What good is gdp being at record high if the communities are falling apart . Robot trucks will be great for gdp but terrible for a lot of americans. If we want to transition to an economy that works for us and gdp is an increasingly meaningless measurement, what would get you excited if i told you this got better for the people of iowa . Life expectancy. Mr. Yang health and Life Expectancy, if we say were healthy and living longer, that would make you happy. What else . Clean air and clean water. Kids success rates. Freedom from substance abuse. [applause] no more guns. Mr. Yang how much of us are enjoying the work we are doing . These are the measurements we have numbers for an gdp is something we made up almost 100 years ago were even the inventor said that we should never use it as a measurement for national and we should not use it. What are we doing now, throwing it off a cliff. He also said we should include parenthood and motherhood as part of the measurement because it adds so much value. [applause] mr. Yang my wife is now at home with our two young boys, one is artistic and what does her work autistic and what does her work include, zero and she gets paid zero, the work she is doing is among the most challenging and vital work in our community today. Much more viable than the average Hedge Fund Managers work. I would trade places with my wife. Id trade places with my wife for a day or two and i say, lenny get back to running for president. [laughter] mr. Yang let me get back to running for president. [laughter] mr. Yang we have to do this as fast as possible because right now our economy is evolving in do notntal ways, they get it in washington, d. C. And we have to take this vision and bring it to the rest of the country as fast as possible. That is why i am with you in iowa. Iowa, you do not know how good you have it but you have this responsibility you take very seriously and i love you for it. You know you have this power. You are a bit spoiled, used to president ial candidates coming in showing up in your living room essentially. [laughter] mr. Yang i have only met him once, i do not know what i think about that yang guy. [laughter] mr. Yang the power israel and you have to use the power and take it and bring this vision to the rest of the country this time. If you lose this opportunity you have four more years of the a. I. Getting smarter and call center shutting, Stores Closing, we have to make this move, you are ground zero, you see it on the farms and main streets, you will see it on the highway soon. ,f iowa does not make this case we will lose the opportunity and we need to make the most of it right now. [applause] mr. Yang this is the vision. This is the vision of the trickle up economy that works for us. And economy we can be proud to pass along to our children. This is not left or right, this is forward. That is how we will win the whole thing in 2020. Thank you very much, iowa, i love you, you are amazing. Thank you. We will take some questions because that is how the yang gang roles. Wheres the music . There is no music. [laughter] mr. Yang in the back with the red balloons, shouted out shout it out. [indiscernible] mr. Yang look at that. Better ears than i do. The question is, how do we make sure the church and state say separated stay separated . This has been engraved in our country since day one. We need to know there are many different ways to worship in this country and we need to have the government and peoples faith be independent of each other. ,peaking for myself personally i married a christian woman and we are bringing our boys up in the Christian Faith and it has been tremendous for a family but there are many different ways people grow up and the government should not be making those decisions for anybody. [applause] mr. Yang another question . With the glasses. You have a valueadded tax consistently getting the revenue. Even if i know plenty goes up. Mr. Yang how do we make sure we keep the revenue coming in . There was a person here, i think was you who said have our deficits are at record high and i have been a businessperson and have run a company that was quite successful. When you have a debt problem as a business, you look at the revenue and expenses. Right now we have a revenue problem and an expense problem in this country. He revenue problem is that for the big winners of the 21st century economy we see next to nothing because they are good at moving all of the income through ireland or expensing it through stock compensation and we do not get the money. We need to reform the tax code to get a fair share of every uber ride and facebook ad and Google Search and amazon sale. That is hundreds of billions of dollars. On the expense side, we have to spend more widely in some instances. One of my plans is to take the military Defense Budget and move it to infrastructure because that is something we will need for a long time and will produce economic value and a lot of the same jobs. That is one way to become much more efficient as a country is by taking some of the resources on both sides. This will be unpopular. We should have it for the irs to give us our taxes, and they know what they are. They had them in the Previous Year and they can bill it for us and you can sign off and do something meaningful with your day. I would turn tax they into revenue day and make it a National Holiday and we would celebrate the fact that we had another all some year with hundreds of billions of dollars in new revenue and have a party at a National Party where there would be thank you video from rah andnd the rock op tom hanks on the rock. That is what we need to do in this country instead of treating us all like we are servants to the state, no, we are the shareholders and deserve to be treated like it. Thank you very much, iowa. I appreciate it. Happy sixth birthday to quinlan. Office,as you run for you will read anything anyone puts in your hands. [laughter] mr. Yang i love you, iowa. See you on the main stage in september and october because of you. Yang gang. Thank you. Thank you. Can i get one more picture . Mr. Yang i love the des moines register. [indiscernible] what are your thoughts on that . Mr. Yang i figure will help balance our economy because right now 1000 goes further in some parts of the country than in others but that will help people move in both directions. If you are living in a highcost part of iowa and want to have a bigger space you can move someplace outside of des moines. If you want to move from a rural area into des moines it is more feasible but it ministries have tried to follow people around as a you live here or there and changing the amount of money would be unfeasible and is much more straightforward and fair and University Popular if everyone gets the same amount. You may be september debate, what is your strategy . What you keep it the same . Over 1 we raised million in 2. 5 days after the debates in detroit, 100s of thousands of people hundreds of thousands of people and the majority of the money came from keeponors so we will saying we need solutions and not soundbites and we can do much better for ourselves. Mr. Yang . You are a political outsider. In washington, 11 people try to figure out people are tried figure out done safety [indiscernible] theg the legislation vast majority of americans favor common sense gun legislation, background checks, and automatic weapons ban. It is the nra and lobbyists going against the will of the American People. I feel like momentum is growing and we will be able to change it. [indiscernible] what i love about the role is that they are transparent and everyone can see what they are. We have to hit certain benchmarks. Biasedi am a little bit because we made the debates and i think the rules are great. [laughter] mr. Yang but anyone who is complaining about the rules, they have been out there for months. [indiscernible] mr. Yang we raised over 1 million in the days after the last debate with less airtime than other candidates and if you do the math, if we could get twice as much airtime we will raise twice as much money. [laughter] mr. Yang the hope is the next debate i believe the dnc is likely to break it up into two nights and it may be only five candidates or six on stage which would be ideal for us. Does the thousand dollars a month go to people here illegally . Mr. Yang it does not go to a document undocumented imris undocumented immigrants. What about permanent status . Mr. Yang the freedom dividend only goes to citizens but hopefully it would be an incentive for some people to adopt citizenship, particularly if they are here permanently because then we could get taxes from them. It would be an incentive to become full citizens. [indiscernible] tariffs i think the were the wrong way to go and if you talk to farmers in iowa they feel turned on by President Trump, many voted for donald trump and they have seen their businesses suffer as a result. Globalization and trade are like other things in society where we have been selling it to everyone as a win and there has been winners and losers. If we pursue trade agreements, we have to take care of the people not going to be part of the benefits. Now we have said we will have three Training Programs for you sometime and the truth is americans know those reTraining Programs generally do not work well. If we have trade deals, we have to push the economic benefits more quickly and broadly and the firstever be a dividend of 1000 a month for every american because everyone would share in our progress. [indiscernible] why do you think migrants are being scapegoated right now . Mr. Yang i think it is much easier for politicians to scapegoat people that a system, machines, technology because if you point to other humans and say this their fault, people will say that could make sense. That is an easier story and we have to make sure americans know the easy story is not the right story. The right story is that the economy is being transformed, particularly by technology and thehe numbers, up to of 5 Million Manufacturing jobs lost over the last number of years 80 were because of technology and automation. How would you convince the American People when President Trump is giving out a different narrative . Mr. Yang by beating donald trump in the ballot box in 2020 and everyone will have the correct story. What qualifications [indiscernible] mr. Yang the opposite of a donald trump is an asian man who likes math. I am focused on solving the problems that donald trump was elected because of and im not of the washington, d. C. System and not beholden to any corporate donors or lobbyists, i will do the right thing for the American People. Why no serious talk about Campaign Finance reform . Mr. Yang i love this question so much. Go to my website and you see half a dozen fundamental campaignfinance reform and democratic reform proposals, like ranked choice voting, 100 democracy dollars for every american to wash out the lobbyist cash and 12 year term limits for members of congress. We can see what is happening in washington, d. C. Where it is disconnected for the needs of the American People. One reason why donald trump won. We need to be talking more about , not just getting money out of politics but putting money into our hands and make it so our legislators represent us. If you are a congressperson your day consists of a lot of dialing for dollars, fundraising calls, media appearances, meeting with your own party, so what are your incentives . Are your incentives to listen to your constituents back home . It gets weaker and weaker. We have to put the money back into our hands and say, look, you have to listen to us and if you get 10,000 americans behind you and give you these dollars that we will give them just to give to campaigns, that is 1 million. When the lobbyist comes and says here is 50,000, you can say i dont need your money because im getting money for the people. There are some any things we need to do in the democratic system. I think we need to move toward 18 year term limits for Supreme Court justices. We have Lifetime Appointments from the early days when people did not live as long. Back then, people stepped down from the Supreme Court for a number of reasons. It was not until they stayed until deaths. People are hyperventilating about the health of an 85yearold Supreme Court justices. We should be able to see the rules are not working and make them work better for us, because we are the owners and shareholders of this country. Maybe you should be on the stump speech. Mr. Yang i like your suggestion. Is their problem with all the time candidates would have to get to get donors to reach the threshold . Mr. Yang our average donation is only 26 so my fans are cheaper than bernies. No one thought it could be done, but we found the people cheaper than bernies. We have a whole lot of them, so we raise millions of dollars from small donors, so if you are not getting money from small donors, to me, you should be looking at why your message is not striking accord. When you talk to i wins, a lot of people were telling me one of the reasons they stick with trump is because they worry about the leftleaning democratic party, typically citing the members of congress that the president attacked. What is your stance on that . Are you worried at all . Mr. Yang if you look, im only one of two candidates in a democratic field where double digits of trump voters say they would vote or, me and bernie. One of the reasons i am such a powerful candidate is because i am drawing in thousands of trump voters, libertarians, democrats, and progressives. Im focused on solving the same problems trump called out, but his solutions were not what we need. He said we would bring old jobs back, build a wall, turn back the clock. Im saying we need to turn the clock forward. Any people who voted for donald trump are being attracted to our campaign for this reason. Some Democratic Candidates called trump a white supremacist, others said they will not go that far. Where do you stand and does it matter to democrats . Mr. Yang i think we should judge everyone by their words and actions. In this case, Donald Trumps words and actions indicate he does have those beliefs, so we have to call him out on that. [indiscernible] mr. Yang based on his words and actions, yes, he is a white supremacist. Change, you said, among your policies, maybe some areas of the country should not be insurable if they are disaster prone, what do you say to iowa farmers who lost their that and massive flooding might likely happen again . Mr. Yang people who are being displaced or having their lives and communities destroyed by Climate Change, we need to take care of them. That is why we have congressional funds, to help manage disasters after the fact. But we also have to start getting smarter about where we build and develop. There are certain parts of the country where you can say, over time, it might be wiser to not invest billions of dollars in new developments in this particular community or region, because it is close to a coastline or, you know, an area to be hit by storms repeatedly area likely to be hit by storms or pete italy. We need to be more aware of Climate Changes affects changes affects. What about those river towns, thats to shea they should be getting up and relocating because they are in a place where they are likely to have flooding . Mr. Yang it is unrealistic to say americans should move in big ways. Mike common message to the basis put americans money and americans hands. Who suffer the most with Hurricane Katrina . The people who didnt have a vehicle to drive to higher ground. By putting money into our hands, we can address some of the worst disasters, and over time, the goal is to try to manage this transition, because the transition is real. We can see the last four years have been the worst four in history, people are dying in heat waves. We have to get out of our heads and say this is real and be proactive in combating Climate Change in a range of ways. Some of the things we should be doing is planning, reinforcing parts of our country because that will help with carbon capture. There are a lot of things we can do, but we have to be proactive. We cant just say if we do less emitting, it will reverse itself, because it will not. Thank you, guys. We appreciate it. We gotta go. Thank you. [indiscernible] mr. Yang i totally agree. Im a fan of increasing [indiscernible] thank you, guys. Mr. Yang thank you, all. Mr. Yang the field its about to shrink a lot and they should dig into each candidate and thing about who has the best [indiscernible] thank you. Thank you. Thank you, brother. [indiscernible] can i get the selfie . Mr. Yang sure. Thank you, guys. [indiscernible] thank you. You gotta vote. All right. You gotta move, guys, im sorry. We love you all. We gotta move, sorry. Do you support reparations for africanamericans . Can i have my money now . Mr. Yang [indiscernible] how would that work with the government . Mr. Yang thank you very much. We love you all. I appreciate it, sir. There he is. Can i get a picture . This is my dad, right here. One last selfie, please. Gotta move. Sorry guys, sorry. Love the lemonade. Andrew, good did you get your turkey leg . Mr. Yang not yet. Im working on it. [laughter] good to see you again. Mr. Yang good to see you too. [camera shutter] mr. Yang here we go. Andrew, right through here. Everybody move. Hi. How are you . Mr. Yang doing well. I was here last year when it was me, tom steyer, and a couple of other people. It was very different. Thats right. Say, i feelhave to really good being back because , and i more is happening much more wellknown in the public eye. [indiscernible] you been on the trail for a while. Do you feel like you have [indiscernible] mr. Yang yeah. Everything is a journey. [indiscernible] mr. Yang there is another mike on me mic on me. Do you guys have a mic on him . Ok, cool. Ok, good. [laughter] sorry about that. Mr. Yang no problem, no problem. Thank you. Sorry about all that. All right. We are almost ready. Mr. Yang who loves pbs . I love pbs. Iowa Public Television everybody. First question, how does it feel being here . Mr. Yang it feels great to be back. I was here a year ago and the campaign has grown so much since then. This year, it is closer to the real action of 2020, so theres more excitement. How do you break out . Mr. Yang after the last debates, we raised over 1 million from small donors, and the next and we made the debate stage and the states will strike a lot. We just keep hammering the message of the American People. They can see their neighborhoods and communities being transformed around them, and we need to have a real move toward an economy that works for everybody. You are depicted as progressive change people versus establishment, quantity people buried or do you think you fit in on that . I think the dichotomies of the media that the media tries to draw are often unhelpful. The entire progressive or establishment or socialist capitalist. The truth is a lot of these frameworks dont apply to what we are going through right now. Its not like when someone dreamed up some of these labels they knew that trucks would drive themselves or Artificial Intelligence could do the work of hundreds of thousands at zero marginal cost, so we need to be focused on trying to solve the real problems in this time. To me, that doesnt fall neatly into any ideological category. There has been conversation about race right now. Yesterday, Elizabeth Warren said the president is white supremacist. What do you make of that, do you agree with that . Mr. Yang i think we should judge people by their words and actions, and unfortunately, the president , his words and actions have led Many Americans to believe he is a white supremacist, so if he wants to change that, he needs to sue be to speak and act differently. Thank you. Were good. Mr. Yang thank you. Thanks for coming. [indiscernible] mr. Yang [indiscernible] its terrible. Know, there is so much time between now and then, but we are growing all of the time. Into never gotten [indiscernible] so we were thrilled. [indiscernible] mr. Yang whats that . [indiscernible] mr. Yang what brings you guys to town . [indiscernible] mr. Yang thats awesome. How favre drive is that . I have made that drive how far of a drive is that . I have made that drive. About four to five hours. Mr. Yang turkey legs. Turkey legs. [indiscernible] mr. Yang listen to your parents. They love you and know best. [laughter] mr. Yang hey, how are you . Very quick. Buddy. K you, can i get one real quick . Mr. Yang we gotta go. We gotta go. Thank you. You are the best. Im not sure they understand how serious a policy it is. Some of thehat numbers indicate they are waking up to it, which makes me very happy. Im the son of immigrants myself, so i know immigrants make us more dynamic, stronger. [indiscernible] late, iming to be sorry. Gotta stay moving. Take moving photos. Can i ask you a quick question . You call for a full ban on assault weapons, what is an assault weapon . Mr. Yang there are different types of weapons, the military style, but if you look at my website, i have a detailed tier on identifying them. Are you willing to disarm the people that protect you . Mr. Yang certainly that is not the policy. Why cant we protect ourselves . Mr. Yang thats not what we are saying, but that is ok. Thank you for your question. We appreciate it. Mr. Yang, how many genders are there . If the question is whether i believe that do you believe there are two genders . Mr. Yang no, i dont. How many . Mr. Yang thats not the point. Not today. We believe in humanity. Im a huge supporter of lgbtq rights and i know gender is in. Any ways a social construct keep walking. We can do a quick handshake. [laughter] mr. Yang how are you doing . [indiscernible] thats not news, guys. Mr. Yang so this is one of the late shows that will do a segment. Colbert . Mr. Yang yes. Lets make some comedy. Did we lose the lemonade . We lost the lemonade. Lemonade and i lost it. Do you want more lemonade . Mr. Yang [indiscernible] mr. Yang thats a great photo. The extras from that photo shoot are way cooler. Those are great shots. Thank you, so much. Hi there. Andrew yang, think of for talking to me. I assume you know [indiscernible] mr. Yang i could actually use some help. Its gregory weitzman. I know its hard to keep track of the candidates. Im running too. Fantastic. Welcome to the field. Gang is a good name for your gang. Youre known for starting your own successful business. What is that like . All the business i bought have been existing businesses that i have run into the ground. Mr. Yang its a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. Anytime you start a business, its 10 of work, and anytime anyone asks you how its going, you have to say is going great. Thats true. Mr. Yang but im sure you will have that sort of experience doing the future. I know you are offering 1000 per month to people. I was wondering if i could maybe get mine now . With that be possible . Mr. Yang i have to win this thing in 2020, and starting in 2021, the freedom dividends can go to you and every other american. I have veterinary bills. My dog swallowed a golf ball. Mr. Yang what i need you to do to get that dividend into your checking account, endorse me, have all of your supporters, gang, andang yang, when im in the white house in 2021, he will get the freedom dividend. I like that. I know you have universal sick income thing. Basic income thing. Everybody should have a universal toaster. What you think . Mr. Yang i agree. Who wants bread that is not toasted . It is unamerican. If you are eating that bread on toasted, i dont untoasted, i dont know what to tell you. A lot of people have compared me to untoasted widespread. I dont necessarily take as an insult. Mr. Yang tell them youre at a minimum, toasted white bread. Thank you and thank you for talking to me. I loved your speech and good luck. Mr. Yang i will see you on the trail. Are you coming with us to New Hampshire . I hope so. Mr. Yang South Carolina . Im currently living in my car, but if i saw gas money, i will see you there. As a candidate, you get a couple dozen tickets, so you of talk so if you talk to my team, we will not give you one. That is fair and honest and i appreciate your candor. Do you have any advice for eating food on a stick . Im allergic to stick. Mr. Yang if youre allergic to stick, i would advise against eating food off of the stick. Is a chance my mouth could make contact with it. Mr. Yang go with the turkey leg, no sticks involved and its like the stick is built in. Thats great advice. I heard they are selling porkchops near the prized iowa hog this year, like a before and after thing. Interesting. Mr. Yang you want to go for the after. Exactly. Good advice. Then q again. Best of luck to you. Thank you again. Best of luck to you. Do you want to join me for a corndog . Mr. Yang sure. Thank you. Mr. Yang its on me. Thats very nice of you. Mr. Yang here you go. Mr. Yang lets find out. [laughter] wondering if you, first of all, i really appreciate you buying the corndogs because my campaign is not doing well. I know thats hard to believe, but we are little financially strapped. Mr. Yang stick with it and im sure if your message fits the voters, they will find you. Well thank you. Mmm. Good stuff. The stick is low enough that my health is not stressed. Mr. Yang oh, good. Mmm. Well, thank you. [laughter] shutter] thank you again for talking to me and for the corndog. Mr. Yang its a pleasure. [indiscernible] mr. Yang i appreciate you guys. I guess you guys have rules. Thank you. [indiscernible] mr. Yang its a nice change of pace. I came to this fair last year and [indiscernible] i will take it. If people want to hear what you have to say, then things are going well. Yeah. Mr. Yang [indiscernible] good news. At thee are meeting winking later today wing ding later today. I cant be here all day, but it seems like we are getting a pretty good iowa state Fair Experience in a short period of time. How does it feel qualifying for the debate . I heard you talking about it. Point, is it like raise, level, race, level, will give you keep going . Mr. Yang one of the themes of the campaign, if you look at how i became successful, it was not because of the debate initially. I came out because of podcast interviews, and reaching americans in different ways. I think we should continue to have a real conversation with the American People, so i will say we raised so much awareness and money after the last debate that it is clear the debate plays a critical role. The media has an immense amount of power on who our leaders are going to be. Thank you. Any time. Well, thank you. [indiscernible] mr. Yang we need to put the resources in place to have our policies move in an effective way. Good luck to you. We will take him, we are going to get a turkey leg. You are welcome to join him. We cannot buy you a turkey leg. Buy everyone a turkey leg. From kansas city just to meet you. This is my son tommy. Hes been pushing you for months. Mr. Yang well, thank you. You are hot press. Thank you for your time. [laughter] mr. Yang one thing about andrew yang, andrew yang is always rock. I play Rock Paper Scissors with joe biden yesterday too and i lost to scissors as well. He goes rock as well. Mr. Yang we will all do rock. [indiscernible] mr. Yang oh really . [indiscernible] [laughter] mr. Yang you must be a proud parents then. I am. Im working on it. Im going to see if i can do it. Thank you. Mr. Yang. [indiscernible] mr. Yang its a really important issue because, most americans would agree that an thatme platform like 8chan has been a real part of mass shootings, you cant have that Community Just completely unchecked. Havee same time, they their First Amendment rights, so its a very specific line drawn. Essentially, now, these Big Technology companies are in the position to make that determination instead of the American People. We are in a were several dutch worst of all worlds situation. Even Tech Companies worst of all worlds situation. Even Tech Companies want this. A lot of their interests revolve around public companies, so they have shareholder interests, so that may not necessarily be like be like hi. Mr. Yang so im going to get two turkey legs. Would you like to pick them out . Mr. Yang [indiscernible] you want to wrap them up to go or do you want to eat and talk at the same time . Mr. Yang i will definitely eat and talk at the same time. We need two of them. 20 please. Thank you, very much. Appreciate it. Yang gang. You have a lot more followers this year. I remember last year. I remember that. You are very nice and said good luck with that. Yes. But also my supposed to say, right . [laughter] there is one. Are these local iowa turkeys . They probably are local iowa turkeys. Look at that. Everyone is snacking. God bless you. Thank you. [laughter] mr. Yang delicious. Why the turkey leg . Because the turkey leg it is awesome. Thank you. You are fine. Thank you. Mr. Yang because i get a turkey leg every chance i get because they are delicious, fun to eat, make you feel like a real american. Usecommend turkey legs for all, unless you are a vegetarian, and then i would never force a turkey leg on you. If you are not a vegetarian, turkey legs all of the way. [indiscernible] mr. Yang i think its just ordinary lemonade, fresh squeezed lemonade. Ant recommend at the iowa state fair, this can be yours. How long are you in iowa . Mr. Yang several days. I will be here for the wing ding, and tomorrow, im attending a forum and a couple of events, so im heading out monday morning. Good luck to you. You are wellinformed. Turkey leg. Are you really going to walk around with that big turkey leg . Mr. Yang sure. Why not. Is this your first turkey leg or are you an experienced turkey leger. Mr. Yang this is definitely not my first turkey leg. Have you ever eaten a turkey leg out of [indiscernible] mr. Yang im a big fan of renaissance fairs and they also have turkey legs. [laughter] mr. Yang this must be Something Like the eighth turkey leg ive had. What is that show . Medieval knights . So, [indiscernible] it is such those are dangerous trends to be and independent management has been in place for decades. Thats the latest you cant be using Monetary Policy politically. Managingits own way of growth and inflation, and i should be part of our mission. If you believe in professional management, let people do their jobs. [indiscernible] mr. Yang some progressives have been advocating for that. I could change the fundamental relationship between the fed and government. Monetary policy is highly interesting and something we have to start exploring. The closest thing might be japan to a real example of whether monetary theory applies. [indiscernible] thank you. All right, guys. If anyone wants at sophie once a selfie, now is the time wants a selfie, now is the time. [indiscernible] [camera shutters] mr. Yang definitely. [indiscernible] mr. Yang [indiscernible] because of the dividend to everyone, many are on board with it. [indiscernible] not all of them, but some of them. Mr. Yang i can take that from you if you dont want it. I can take that from you if you dont want it. Thank you. Go, go. mr. Yang, can we get one as well . Mr. Yang sure. [indiscernible] rush rush pdx, that is what andrew yang says. [laughter] mr. Yang hi there. How are you . Now youre going to love it. At the is how it works iowa state fair as andrew yang continues to work the crowd and eating some of the traditional food at the fair including , asdogs and turkey legs well as fried oreos, some of the foods available at the iowa state fair, which continues for the next week and a half. Biden erday, joe Marianne Williamson and tulsi gabbard. This is from yesterday, joe biden. God love you. Thank you. V. P. Biden [indiscernible] oh, good. V. P. Biden
