British house of commons. This and it around education and Better School curriculum that prepares students for real life experience. This is about 45 minutes. We will now consider the third motion, colleagues of the day, and the last of the morning session. To move the motion, i call from the northwest of england. [applause] thank you, mr. Speaker. The difference between dreams and reality is action. Use the very essence of that if a dream strives into an everlasting future that often tells us know, you cant. Helps bridge the gap between education and the world of work. You thatif i told thats only the echo of the convention broken by misguided opportunities. It tells young people to never look beyond the life they have been given. When employers say they need 30 ofperience, only them offer it. Something has to change. That young were told people were under no obligation to get Work Experience. This is an inequality of opportunity. Say weno longer have to live in a time defined by where we are from, what our parents arent, and especially by an Education System that has failed the many undiscovered talents of generations that came before us. In our actions today, we can break the cycle. I remember growing up with my friends. We could bet doctors, that we could be lawyers, and soon, even astronauts. Yet it was far off from the things we could do in high school. Lived in a society with little to no expectation of what we could grow up to be. Please welcome from the east midlands. [applause] thank you, mr. Speaker. Experience changed my life. Heard often, but a phrase who would love to hear. I am here not to campaign against iraq experience but to campaign for better Work Experience. , Work Experience as it stands is pretty pathetic. Our Current System is everything but what we wanted to be. It comprises a menial labor scene. Inspire, challenge or have eyes opened up to the world for the possibility. Sadly, Work Experience as it , leaves you disillusioned and disinterested. Each coming out with only negatives. I do not want to make tea and coffee ever again. Never want to work in retail. This is some familiar . Experience in the sciences, arts, and technology would inspire an entire generation. We are the youth of today who have big dreams and aspirations, and are being work let down by poor Work Experience and then menial into being laborers under the banner of Work Experience. What al dont know Successful Program and work his parents looks like. It is out there. Who is to say if our current Work Experience is beneficial . All those listing today, we need regardingate our data Work Experience and think about what our vision of experience should look like. This will take time, good quality research, and the cooperation of many organizations. But Research Needs to be done. It is only after this that we can say yes, this Work Experience works. It is only after this that we can ride together and campaign for Work Experience that enhances our education and development. We need to offer a standardized Work Experience where youth can rotate against across barriers disciplines, experiencing not just one profession but multiple. My argument today is not to campaign against Work Experience, but before we take the steps, let us take a moment to reflect on our practice. Let us take a moment to step back and improve the quality of Work Experience. Let us create a future where we would grow to be pioneers, a future which will allow us to say Work Experience changed my life. Thank you. [applause] thank you. Thank you for the excellent speech. Hearnk now i would like to a speaker from scotland. This segment was first. Lets hear you, sir. Thank you, speaker. Is it not the case, with the power to change Work Experience in curriculum . There are a lot of points of whether we are educated enough but im sure they would agree adults are as capable of making these decisions is youth. On that note, there has been cynicism. Just because we are filibustered out of debates does not mean were on the wrong set of history. We are on the right side of history. Did the suffragettes get up . To the workingclass give up . We affirm that belief. Lets give it one more push. Lets see the change we want to see in the world. We are not the generation that were given expected the amount, we are the generation that will not waiver. [applause] thank you very much indeed. Speaking from head and heart of life. On this occasion i think im looking for a speaker from wales. The young person in the middle. I am from cardiff. The youth of today entered the labor force. Its Important Network expenses acceptable for people from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Those who have the best Work Experience are those with connections, those with family members in high positions. I having the government intervene and provide Work Experience ops, the controls that equal opportunity platform. Employers say that they want individuals to Work Experience as a benefit to their government. But the weeks of today do not have Work Experience. How we get hired . Means there will not be quality. Opportunity, id urge you all to pass this motion and vote Work Experience. [applause] earlier i mentioned that we have been visited by the clerk assistant. Seniornow joined by the whom iral official with work very closely every day and has worked in this place for over four decades. He is usually respect. Hugely respected. [applause] you for your interest and support. Representative a from yorkshire. Theres an extraordinary level of excitement. I think are going to take the individual in the pale blue. Thank you so much. Im a member of Youth Parliament for leads. Currently, you can attend the school where you receive all the help in the world or you can attend a school we received no help whatsoever. We believe in equal opportunities for all. I ask you this, how can this be justified . Underestimate the importance of one good Work Experience placement. At child can be more likely to get into university topic is there any more deserving but because they have had more help to get there. I have a colleague that did not get into the First Choice University because they did not have that Work Experience iceman. I am here representing all the studentss voices need to be heard. Work experience hobbs will a society where someones background will not affect their ability to achieve in life. This is the United Kingdom that i want to live in. Thank you. [applause] do we have from london . Is in a state of uncontrollable excitement. We look for to hearing from them. I like to quickly dedicate a speech to a good friend of mine. Just a year ago, i received strong backing from a number of communities, even the kurdish committee. People thatung wanted to speak to me. Specifically,e, that he was in a very good school. Why . Because he was kurdish. Kurdish family and my rockituency comes from a from yurok iraq. Bullied, attacked, every single day. I know this means a lot to young , iple but in my constituency think its more relevant that we wee for topics such as this can cover a much broader spectrum of issues that would help more young people. Thank you. [applause] thank you very much, indeed. Just before call somebody from the West Midlands, let me welcome to enjoy and support our proceedings, my parliamentary colleague, labor member of parliament from birmingham. [applause] thank you for your interest and support. Who do we have from the West Midlands who wishes to donate . Orate . The young woman in the second row. Im from warsaw. A quick google will show you thats not in poland. We need to bridge the gap between young people in the world of work. This meansregarding young people have four more encounters with employers are less likely to be unemployed later in life. Work experience is something that should be integrated into a highquality Career Education program in all schools throughout the day. Fragmented Career Education across the country is detrimental to the youth of today as they do not have the experience to comment their educational skills. It is critical for parliament to make this a primary issue. We will see a change in the next 12 months. Thank you. [applause] im looking for a speaker from Northern Ireland. Could we have . If youve already spoken, i think probably not the second time because some people dont speak at all. Does this person was to speak . Not on this debate . All right, i said Northern Ireland. Thank you, mr. Speaker. We have a system in Northern Ireland which is very much like this. Mostconfident it helps people but theres still an ongoing was the problem. Some young people do not even know it exists. It is beneficial to young people to help advancements in their careers and dreams. He gives them a taste of their future and gives them help in the coming decisions. I would love to see people in other parts of the u. K. Have the same opportunities as i will. That ist appalling being overlooked in a crucial system that has stood by us from our early days. I cant help but feel the young people in england have been let down by past governments to be provided hobbs such as we have in the one we are considering today. [applause] about the east of england . Young gentleman here holding up his sweater. A fashionable accessory and a demonstration of his interest. Lets hear from you. A couple of years ago, i had the privilege of doing some Work Experience with the chief executive and was part of the campaign of takeover day. In norfolk, we are something caught help you choose which is an online hub to give young people to apply for things like college and Work Experience and apprenticeships. He put all the information there. It changed my perspective on the workplace and its made me feel it more involved in the workplace. It has allowed me to have the opportunities that i have today to be speaking to you in the house of parliament. I think it is important that we opportunities. Not everyone has this privilege. They dont have the opportunities that i have had to go into the local council and work in the chief executives, sit in on meetings, count ballots, things like that. We havent all had that experience. I would also like to save his a Bold Campaign and we still can fight for immigrants and lgbt writes. Rights. [applause] before i call a representative from the southeast, please welcome a member of parliament from the southeast. Conservative member backing him who is standing immediately to my right and waving ostentatiously. [applause] distinguishedry track record in the army. He served in many theaters on a very high level. He has experiences that most of thankfully, will never have. He has been a brave soldier for his country is a principal member of parliament. A pleasure to have you with us. Thank you for your support. I think is going to hear next in the southeast of england. To be wanted to stick away for a while. Im the call the young woman here. Thank you. We live in a society where 50 of people do not take a degree. Often, eople, more than have little to no experience working in areas they want to have a career. People dont know where they will be subject. Few are left unguided and uncertain and decision that will make a great shape on the rest of their life. I believe strongly that there is a duty to young people. , to oura duty constituents, to give all young people an opportunity to explore and test their passions. We want a generation more passionate and prepared. I urge you to pass this motion and in turn, not only will we see Less Division and backgrounds, but a stronger economy. It will benefit the u. K. Socially and economically and i urge you to pass it. [applause] thank you very much, indeed. Under the call a speaker from the northeast of england. Im going to call you in a moment. Prepareelf yourself. I want to welcome my colleague and the chair of the work and pension selection committee. A member working without interruption since 1979. 38 years and member of parliament. 38 years, a member of parliament. Recognized by many as what we want a member of parliament to be. Seekeripled and fearless and speaker for truth. [applause] for decades, he has campaigned against child poverty. Hes a specialist in Social Security and pensions. Hes forgotten more than i ever known. Hes an outstanding representative and has never been scared of anybody or anything. A standing that you should aspire to obtain. Thank you for your work. What about our friend from the northeast . Plenty of time to prepare. Representing northeast. These ideas would improve our journey to further educational work. Motion onoritize this the basic foundations of educational initiation. We can work on the investment of other education and must ensure that every single young person a the u. K. Is guaranteed basic and unbiased curriculum to prepare us. Thank you. [applause] northwest of england. Who do we have from the northwest . Second from the end. User. Member. A i know someone who is the opportunity to work with the united nations. An option that many did not know existed. Heartbreaking when people didnt know how to get that experience. Imagine if we had the andrtunity to go online find an opportunity. Imagine that. But in that the equality of opportunity. Thank you. [applause] what about the east midlands . The east midlands . What about the young gentleman at the end . Yourself . The key to this motion is experience. Experience to learn in a different environment. Experience to explore new ideas and experience to fail. This is why i have to go against this motion. Live in a world of opportunities. Our young people be the future. However, it feels to me we have grown lazy. We want to make life easy, but its not. Nobody is going to get you at a hard life. Its not about how hard your hits, its about getting up and setting up and moving forward. We have been given the foundation of life to shape our future the way we want it. It will be hard and difficult but that is called experience. Life isnt always about sunshine and rainbows. Life beats us down and we learn from it. We improve ourselves and be a better self. We need to understand the tough and have of rejection the motivation to get up, work hard, and achieve. [applause] im looking to call a speaker from the southwest of england. Im going to call the young woman in the very back row with the gray, i think its great, jacket and the dark blue dress. Thank you. Its a great honor to represent west wilshire. I have one question. Why are we, at present, making little effort to Network Across the country to connect young people and companies . With this motion, young people would be able to Application Access applications for Work Experience easily and not do unnecessary research. Bys creates a Mutual Benefit the axis for businesses. It encourages apprenticeships. You must take into account that this could offer lifechanging opportunities for those who have never had the chance to develop teen life skills. T life skills. Not just young people from the cities. We can make a difference by supporting this motion and injecting a sense of passion into what really matters in life. [applause] thank you. Soon, i will call the concluding speaker from Northern Ireland. However, before we get to that, elisha made a superb speech. He is restored to full vigor and we are delighted by that. And would like to continue. [applause] [laughter] continue the remainder of your speech. , it isnt about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. [applause] ok, i will start again. The difference between dreams and reality is action. Its a build upon our passion to dream, i resolved to strive and an everlasting effort to overcome our trials in a society that often tells us know no, you cant. To bridge the gap between education and the world of work. The echo of the convention broken by misguided opportunity, failed in dreams, and the means to tell our young people to never look beyond the life youve been given. When 65 of employers believe Work Experience a trade proper for employment and only 30 are willing to offer it, surely, something has to change. Told as ourwere people that, because of the school year term, there was no obligation for Work Experience and inequality of opportunity persists. We should no longer have to say we live in a society where we are defined by where we live, what our parents are, and especially by an Education System that is has failed to the many generations that have come before us. , we canactions today break the cycle. , where im from, my home, manchester. Agreement i remember growing up with my friends. We jumped that we could be [indiscernible] , the observations from a to realizing we live in a society that has little to no expectation about what we as young people could ever be. I was once told that a passcode should never have to dictate potential. With those words, i stand with you with a belief. I believe that a young person in the streets deserves the same exact opportunity for the young person in ethan. And i believe that they are inson who feels isolated this country deserves the exact same opportunity as a young person from we are told as young people that we are the future. When a selfproclaimed title, such as the United Kingdom, has left the opportunities of so many young people divided and allowed us to say one smart. If we are a United Kingdom, then why have we divided our young people by opportunity. [applause] i love to all of you today and i tell you [laughter] let this three let this be countryed to show this that in the 21st century we should not have to be defined by where we are from. Future to aspire to. Mark. Say we made our and most importantly, let us be remembered as the own people we are. I thank you all. [applause] mr. Speaker elijah, thank you for your sincerity, for your eloquence, for your passion. You for yourhank courage. You are the spirit of the United Kingdom youth. [applause] to conclude the debate, welcome from north ireland, jenny iredell. Thank you, mr. Speaker. I also thank councilmember elijah for the encouraging of implementation of Work Experience. I think i spake for everybody in this room when i say, elijah, your amazing and we are also proud of you. [applause] Vocational Education in 2012, schools waspon removed. Instead, a higher purpose was placed on 16 to 19yearolds, come the department of education Work Experience as part of the city program. Should opportunity be limited to highlevel placements or is it more realistic to other roles . Should all roles not be considered if we desire to be solely inclusive. . Secondly, should the reality of entering the workplace be given autonomy and responsibly . One could argue that, yes, extremely monday in an uninspiring. That they are sometimes necessary and the reality of so many workplaces. It screams double standards between what employers want and what they want for young people. Employers require soft skills, like communicate mission, initiative and teamwork medication, initiative and teamwork. You can only learn and develop these life skills when you have the opportunity to grow by experience a new challenges and new opportunities outside the school environment. The government establishing education business partnerships with over 173 businesses offering work was work placement. Still, there is no direct [indiscernible] accepted last summer in a work placement. Me. Hanged everything for my dreams. My past. My goals. Everything. Worked. Experienced but this regrettably is not the case are so many young people. So what is it working . We need to give young people a stepping stone to bridge the wide gap between education and employment. New engineand of this year, there were over 790,000 young people not in employment, training, or education. In fact, 90 of these young people havent some form of Work Experience. Leavingyoung people are the school place without experience of the workplace. This motion seeks to improve visibility. The quality of Work Experience is lasting. I think the figures speak for themselves. See thousands of young people struggling to find placement. Whether making the tea is indeed your cup of tea or you wish to immerse yourself in a world of test to send electra marcos gropes, the electro microscopes, the question is this. People to search for work place opportunities and apply directly. That is your decision. Thank you. [applause] speaker thank you, jenny, for that. First class conclusion for our debate. Order. Order. That. Concludes the morning session of our sitting. The Youth Parliament. Until 1 45 p. M. Friends and colleagues, i you all to return to Westminster Hall for lunch. Order. Order. [applause]
