That we passed in the house today brings us one step closer to historic tax reform. That means more jobs, fairer taxes, bigger paychecks for americans. Long, the American People have been living under a broken system where they see too little of their hardearned dollars. They spend hours and hours, dollars just doing their taxes. So much time and money is wasted just complying with this incredibly complicated tax code, only to be rewarded by having a big chunk of their income taken and claimed by the government. It is unsustainable. People really are struggling in this country. So many people are living paycheck to paycheck. Families deserve a break. Single moms deserve a break. Parents working to send their kids to college deserve a break. The guy who just got a job a couple of months ago deserves a break. That is what this tax plan is all about. Our tax reform plan invests in these people, in real people, because we believe that families know how to invest their dollars better than the federal government. We believe that families need a break. Tax reform will help reignite the american dream. It will bring us back to a place of confidence, freedom, happiness, a stronger, healthier economy and this budget that the house passed 20 minutes ago brings us closer to bringing making that dream a reality. Reporter mr. Speaker . What the conference did earlier this week, multiple investigations into elements of the 2016 campaign into Clinton Foundation issues, there have been allegations this is a partisan effort to distract. What is your endgame here and you had strong words for the fbi earlier in the week about subpoenas related to the dossier issue. Mr. Ryan the point of these investigations is to find the truth and if laws are violated areistakes are made, they not made again. Transparency gets you that. It is our job, the legislative branch of government to conduct oversight over the executive branch. A really important responsibility for congress. This is why we are frustrated to have learned through the media aspect about this investigation that we have been asking for documents from the fbi for months. Since yesterday morning, the fbi got in touch with us yesterday afternoon, and they have informed us that they will comply with our document requests and that they will provide the documents congress has been asking for by next week and we expect the fbi to honor that commitment. Tax reform, you did pass a final version of the budget, but more of your members voted against this version and the version that passed the house. Many of them from new york, new jersey, what are you doing to ensure tax reform passes . Mr. Ryan look at the big step we took today. This was an enormous step to getting comprehensive tax reform into law, done. Are you ok . That was just passed, that is important for getting tax reform done. The ways and Means Committee and be putting out a plan they will work with all members to address their concerns. I believe the ways and Means Committee will be working with these members to find a solution. Reporter you would not guarantee that the tax code will not raise the deficit, can you guarantee that it will cut middleclass taxes . Mr. Ryan the entire purpose is to cut middleclass taxes. Reporter chairman brady said about the 401 k s, you left the door open. Mr. Ryan i am going to live it to kevin brady and the ways and Means Committee to tell you the details. That is their job. They are writing the tax code. I would refer you to the committee. I used to run the committee and i did not want leadership doing my job, so i would refer you to them. Reporter on principle, do you agree with the president . Mr. Ryan i agree with him on tax reform. I believe with giving the latitude to achieve legislation. Again, remember what we are trying to achieve here. We are trying to achieve given people a break on their taxes, making it easier for people to plan and save for the future. There are many ways of accomplishing that. The ways and Means Committee is working on that. Reporter another easy subject. On immigration, can you clarify what you meant regarding noticed i was, i incorrectly. No decision has been made about the timing and nature daca. Reporter when a vote would occur . Mr. Ryan or how a vote would be structured. There are ongoing conversations ongoing between all of our members. You know we are working on a daca solution, there was no secret there. We are working on a daca solution and in such a way we dont have a problem five or 10 years down the road. Borderans we had to make security a part of that. How and when we do that is an ongoing conversation we are having. Selective, incorrect leaks are not the way to convey that message. We are talking with our members about all kinds of solutions. Reporter your office described the Tax Organization as nonpartisan. Among its board is bill archer and others. You have taken shots at the tax policy center, which most people see as bipartisan because it represents people from both sides including two gop next ceo chiefs. Gop exchiefs. Why do you think one is bipartisan and the other and other isnt . Mr. Ryan i think having a closed economic model that disrespects or disregards mobile capital flows at this not make sense. I think there are some model flaws. The ak model is one i worked on when i was younger, the current model i think they did a lot to poke holes in the tcp model. I would say the basic, they made a bunch of assumptions, made up a bunch of things up in their model to come up with a conclusion which seemed to me to be overly partisan when in fact those were not the decisions made. That is my problem with the model. Reporter over on the other side of the capital, there are two some strong words from retiring republican senators about the president and his behavior. Do you share any of these concerns, and particularly the views of senator flake that he does not want to be complicit . All, here isst of what i think about this. Jeff flake is a good friend of mine. He is a very good man, he was a voice of fiscal restraint here in the house. I do not think the American People care about that. Do you know what the American People would like to see us do . Solve their problems. I do not think they want to see us yelling at each other, they want to see us fighting for them. The American People want results and so that is what we are focused on, and i honestly believe the more unified we are in pursuing solutions that solve the American Peoples problems, that is what the people who sent us here want us to do. That is what they expect. We work for the people who elect us, they are our employers. So if we are calling each other names or calling each other out or saying things against each other, what does that do to help a working mother get ahead . What does it do to help a veteran get the health care he deserves . What does it do to help rebuild our military so they are the strongest undisputed military in the world . What does that do to bring tax reform which will give us the fastest Economic Growth . Nothing. Which is why i think we need to stay focused on solving peoples problems, and moving this agenda i am being concerned about their issues and moving this agenda forward. That is what our focus is about. Reporter mr. Speaker . Somebody tell him about the rules later. The president [indiscernible] the 401k issue, are you concerned that this rollout next going tot he is not see something about it with what will be in asia, number one. Mr. Ryan he will be in asia, number one [laughter] that was a joke, i was joking on that one. No, we are working very closely with the white house on this. As you know, with the big six, we worked very hard on the parameters and on the decision of what goes into this. The tax writers are working on the details, on how to make the framework happen and we are working closely with the white house so that there will be no surprises from our partners in the white house or the senate when we do this. Thank you very much, everybody. Appreciate it
