I think we need to have as many reasonable options to combat terrorism as possible. We need to do it in a way that is legal and constitutional. But we need options to fight terrorist attacks. I think we need to have things that are legal and constitutional. Do you think its illegal . Governor walker im not a lawyer. They have been doing it. Governor walker i would consult attorneys on that. They said obama is killing them and they are not getting any intelligence. Governor walker the bottom line, we have to make sure we have capacity and that there are as many legal and constitutional tools as possible. As i mentioned at the onset, today, again we heard yet another judge point out that Hillary Clinton clearly, according to this judges comments, seems to have violated the regulations and standards the federal government when it comes to her email server. As i point out, this is one of the frustrating things. It is pretty clear that every time she was using that unprotected server, she was putting our National Security at risk. She was putting our children and our families at risk. To me it is either illegal or it is incompetent. It increasingly appears to be something of both. The subject of anchor babies has come up a lot over the past few days. Do you find that term offensive and you think it promotes or hinders the debate . Governor walker i will leave other candidates to talk about that. When i talk about immigration, i talk about how we need to have a policy that truly secures the border in this country. We go forward enforcing the laws of this country. There shouldnt be sanctuary cities and we need to make sure i dont believe in amnesty. We should have a Legal Immigration system that gives priority to working american families. In a way that improves the economy. As far as the comments, i will leave them to other candidates. Seemed committal and not so committal after the woman brought up the declassification of the 9 11 pages. Did you read them . Governor walker while i havent read the classified parts. I would have to make sure there werent issues that would put National Security at risk. To me, assuming that is not the case, i think having more information is a good thing. That is why i do not specifically commit to that because i would need to have some reason to believe that the information itself wasnt classified. You said tonight that many times on the trail you have defunded planned parenthood years ago in your state. Is that also title x money . Governor walker we had legislation in the state that would ultimately prohibit that from happening. So its not quite true that its defunded. Governor walker its 100 true from state funding. The difference is it was pointed out that there was federal money that came through and there is another way potentially for us to block it. You think its legal and constitutional not constitutional, legal. There has been a debate. Governor walker we are going to go forward in the way that we think will sustain a legal challenge. Thats why initially, we defunded state money. I think the best answer is for the federal government to step up and members of the house and the senate to send the bill to the president. Certainly, that is some thing i would support as president of the United States. We sent that money to other places where it was used for womens health, just not in the controversial ways of planned parenthood. This is a long campaign. Does it feel to you like this has been a low moment in the campaign as far as that goes . Governor walker it is pretty steady. In october 2007, last time there was an open race, it was even closer to the election that we then we are right now. Polls showed that Hillary Clinton was way ahead of barack obama and john edwards. Rudy giuliani and Fred Thompson were way ahead of john mccain. For us, we are committed to do townhall meetings, house parties, and other events like this in New Hampshire and similar events elsewhere around the country. We believe that when people hear about our story and that we did not just take over the unions and special Interest Groups in washington, we are willing to take on the establishment and our own party, we will do what it takes regardless of party to do whats right for america. Thank you. Jeb bush said today that he that he would seriously consider putting a woman on the ticket if hillary is the nominee. Have you given any thought to that . Governor walker i think decisions based on who you put on the ticket for Vice President should not be made for political purposes. They should be made first and foremost for who is competent to be the president of the United States. That is the number one responsibility of the Vice President. Morbid, if i were president and something were to happen to me, i would want somebody who is competent to be the president of the United States. That is the number one responsibility any credible person should think about when they pick a running mate. Secondly that is a funky flash. We are at a disco now. Governor walker glad i dont have vertigo. Along with it, the second most important criteria is that once you find out someone who is competent to be president of the United States, you should pick someone that shares your values and principles. To me, i am not going to pick people for a political purpose regardless of what the criteria is. If i am fortunate enough to be the nominee, i will pick the person who is prepared to be president of the United States and who shares the same principle that believes that i do. Thank you. But the half of the senate that read it, they said there was nothing in it that would threaten our National Security. Bob graham was in the senate at the time. Do you think it should be released for the victims to be able to go to court and protect themselves to keep this lawsuit . So people dont have to die in foreign lands with inaccurate information. Governor walker i certainly think having more information overall for the American People is important. But i have not read it myself and i would want to consult with someone who actually has read it. Will you call on those members of the house and senate right now to go and read those pages . Its a half hour of their lives and no one has bothered. Walker like i said, i would want to talk with someone who actually read it. There was a press conference in june of this year, a senate bill has been introduced to declassify, bipartisan. It was introduced by rand paul. They read it. [applause] thank you very and thank you for having me. I think this election is all about saving the American Dream and the idea of america. Every time president obama speaks, it is about redistribution, government spending, government dependence. That is not the American Dream that our parents taught us. I want to briefly tell you my story heavily what we have to do to save the American Dream. My parents have lived the American Dream. My dad is one of nine children. My parents they have lived the American Dream. My dad is one of nine children. First and the only one in the family to get past the fifth grade. Grew up in a house without electricity and running water. I know because we heard those stories every single day growing up. Here is the amazing thing almost 45 years ago, the first time my parents got on a plane almost 45 years ago the first time i parents got on a plane they came halfway across the world to baton rouge, louisiana. They had never visited. They didnt anybody who had been here and have gone back and could tell you what it is like. They left their families, their friends. My mom was pregnant with me. You couldnt google back then. They were coming to an idea as much as they were coming to a place. They were coming to the idea of freedom and opportunity. They were coming to the American Dream. When they got here, my mom went to school at lsu. My dad thats right. Go, tigers. My dad didnt compute to be didnt come here to be dependent on the government, he came here to get a job. Got his first job calling through the yellow pages. I was born with a preexisting condition. There is no obamacare, no local contracts. My dad went to the doctor, shook his hand, and promised to send him a check every month until he paid that bill in full area and that is exactly what he did. [applause] mr. Jindal thats what we used to do in this country. I asked my dad how does it work to pay for a baby on layaway. [laughter] mr. Jindal dal do they take the baby back . He said we would have sent you back. The reason i tell you that story, my parents came here to chase the American Dream. They lived the American Dream. I want my children and grandchildren to live that same dream. While im talking about my parents, i might as well say this, when my parents came to this country, they came to this country legally. [applause] folks, an immigration policy can either make a country stronger or weaker. A dumb immigration policy makes a country weaker and that is what we have today. We need to stop talking about it. We dont need it in a 1000 page bill, we need to secure the border once and for all. We could get it done in six months if we were serious. You have big business interests in d. C. , who doesnt want the border secure. They pay for protestors. They try to silence free speech. We are going to stand up to the big business interest. The big business interests can buy as many tshirts as they want. We are going to secure our border. We are a nation of laws. [applause] the Republican Party is not the party of big government, we should not become the party of big business either. It is time to put an end to sanctuary sittings. These other two arent any better, they just wont admit it. The idea of america is slipping away from us. 18 trillion of debt. Planned parenthood using our taxpayer dollars to tear apart babies and sell their organs, our government creating an Entitlement Program that we cant afford today. Our president who has made a war on trans fat and a truce and iran, the greatest sponsor of terrorism in the world. Our president is so politically correct he cannot even say radical islamic terrorism. How can he fight our enemies if he cant define our enemies . A president who time and time again had the epa regulating our water. We have a more expansive and more expensive and more intrusive federal government than ever before. The idea of america is slipping away. It is time to stand up and take it back. I dont know about you. Im not going to let the idea of america slip away as long as i have breath. I will do everything i can to get the idea of america back. The idea of america has generated more wealth than any civilization in the world. It has done more for freedom than any other civilization in the world. Its done more to fight for the defenseless than any other nation in the history of the world. We must not let it slip away. Shame on those fools in d. C. Who are giving it away. There are a lot of great speakers running for president. Im not the best looking candidate. My daddy wasnt president. I dont have a reality tv show. But i have the backbone, i have the bandwidth, i have the experience to get this job done. Ill be ready on the first day. The next commander will be across the table from a putin or an ayatollah. He better not need a teleprompter, talking points, or great staff. We need a president who can do this job on the first day. Mr. Jindal we have to have solar, we have to have ethanol, we have to have wind, oil, gas, clean coal, nuclear, we have to get it all, and get the epa out of the way. They want energy to be scarce and expensive. We are dependent on government. He bragged about increasing oil and gas production. It is like the rooster taking credit for the sun coming up. Production is going down on federal lands and production is up on private lands and waters. We can start by getting the epa out of the way. How will yo ugre you create more jobs . How do you define good jobs . Mr. Jindal good jobs are jobs that pay well. Where you create more jobs, we have the highest tax rate in the world. Secondly you have to shrink the government. Either grow the government economy or the american economy, they are mutually exclusive. Every governor talks about cutting government, im the only one who has done it. Theres not two, theres one. I cut my budget 26 , we have 30,000 fewer state bureaucrats since i took office. I have an Energy Independence plan. Not only do you bring exploration jobs but you bring manufacturing jobs back as well. We also need to repeal obama care, all the uncertainty and regulations getting in the way of hiring and expanding. Finally we have to rollback the regulatory state. Congress needs to do its job. It needs to vote on these regulations before these unelected bureaucrats strangle our economy. We can dominate this century, but we have to get government out of the way for you want good paying jobs. Yes, sir . [indiscernible] jindal a great question about the rising of china and russia, we have to stop hollowing out our military. This president thinks weakness is the key to peace. Weakness is provocative to evil. It never works. You have putin in eastern ukraine. You have china ascendant in asia. You have isis across the middle east. Reagan understood peace through strength actually works. I never want our military in a fair fight, i want our military to dominate any fight we send them into. And it is unfair to send them into a fight without the resources they need. How do we spread the republican message to our youth . Mr. Jindal the question is how do we send the republican message to the youth . Two things i would ask any voter, are you really better off than one president obama got elected . Your premiums did not go down 2500. All these things he said, he said the world would be safer. He says he cannot beat isis in a generation. The first question ask is are you better off. Second, who is smarter . Lifeyou or the government . Who knows better how to run your life . You or the government . The left thinks you are not smart enough to buy your own insurance. They dont think youre smart enough to have First Amendment religious liberty rights. They dont think youre smart enough to have Second Amendment gun rights, they dont think you are smart enough to decide how your kids should be educated. They dont think youre smart enough to know how many big gulps you should be drinking. I would ask who do you trust to live your lives . I will defend my children from popcorn, oreos, and deepfried candy bars if he does his job and defends us from radical islamic terrorists. Terrorists. [indiscernible] mr. Jindal i think i heard the question. Im not for discrimination against anybody. I dont think the government should be intruding on the matters. I worry about an allout assault against christian Business Owners. I think there are christian florists, musicians, and caterers that are being forced to choose between their content their conscience and their business. The real discrimination is against individuals who want to continue with marriage being between a man and a woman. I dont think court can redefine the definition of marriage. I found an executive order in louisiana saying we wont discriminate against Business Owners and individuals who have a traditional view of marriage. They were for religious freedom before they were against it. We are all created equal in gods eyes. I think the discrimination is against christian Business Owners and individuals who want to follow their conscience. The day the president announced, you said we should abolish the Supreme Court. How can you take the oath of office if you think we should abolish the Supreme Court . Mr. Jindal i was in iowa. They came out with a decision on marriage the same out the same week they came up with the decision on obama care, i was asked what we should do about the court. I said glibly i said if the court cant be bothered to read the constitution, according to scalia it has no meaning, they are going to become a Public Opinion poll instead of following the constitution, maybe we can save a couple of bucks and get rid of the court altogether. I know the left didnt like that. Hillary attacked that. Im willing to get rid of two thirds of the court and keep three of them. There are three that actually follow the constitution. Just once i would like them to fight for what they believe in. They rolled over on amnesty, they rolled over on obamacare in d. C. They better take a stand against funding planned parenthood. How in the world can our tax dollars go for these barbaric activities . I think there is right. I think the best thing i can tell you is i do what i say. I said im going to support the rule of law. I said i was going to cut my State Government without raising taxes. Clearly we have done it. Ive said i stand in support of religious liberty and in support traditional marriage. We have a woman who disagrees with that. I will tell you what i believe, i will do what i say. And im willing to give everything i got to fight to protect the idea of america. If you are looking for something somebody to manage the slow decline of this country, go for somebody else. If you want somebody who is going to fight to save the idea of america, to rescue the American Dream from becoming the european nightmare and take us off the path of socialism, believe again. Thank you for joining us. A weekend of renewed speculation. What is behind this . Guest there is still a lot of activity that we have seen from the Vice President and his advisers in the last few days. Not only the unusual weekend in which he met with Elizabeth Warren he left his house and came up just for a few hours to d. C. To meet with her at the naval observatory. We have seen him meeting with longtime political aides, people whove been with him for decades, reaching out to his longtime donors to see whether they would be supportive of a future run, and advisers to the Vice President tell us that he is seriously considering whether he wants to get into the race, and more specifically, what factors he needs to take into account to see if it is too late at this point to melt a viable mount a viable campaign. Host lets talk about the mechanics of entering the race. Many people forget that bill clinton did not enter the race until september 1991 before the 1992 elections. Setting up an organization, the money, everything, how does he do that . Guest its a good question. They are looking at that. One of these factors is the huge head start that someone like Hillary Clinton has. 45 million in the bank. Joe biden and his aides are looking at a much more meager number like 5 million of direct contributions to his campaign in the first two months just to start Opening Campaign offices, getting ads on television, and getting delegates together to qualify for the ballots. Of coun Campaign Continues to move forward with its own fundraising efforts. Any reaction from the Clinton Campaign . Guest reaction from the clinton staff has been very muted and careful. They have said that this is the sitting Vice President , he certainly has the right to run for his partys nomination, if he wants. It tried to avoid making it seem like they are pushing him out of the race. That being said, behindthescenes, we have seen actions from the Clinton Campaign that they are concerned about this and are trying to lock up support. Everybody knows that joe biden tends to do well in South Carolina and has strong support there. Top aidess sent her carolina to try to lock up endorsements, open up new offices, hold public events, and show that in places where biden is competitive, clinton has support locked up. Host when the Clinton Campaign announced her intention to run for president , hurt staff that this would be a different type of campaign. Have we seen that . Guest in some ways we have, in some ways we havent. Just a few weeks ago, the Clinton Campaign said they would start making her available for national interviews, and putting out more to take questions. As the email scandal has continued to the campaign, we have seen that not continue the campaign, we have seen that not play out. It seems like there are still some habits, in terms of secrecy and privacy, that they are adhering to the aderholt over his from her previous campaign. Y this morning from the New York Times pointing out that Hillary Clinton will be back on the campaign trail next week.
