Alzheimers. I lost my father to alzheimers. So i understand. I understand the heartbreak of this disease. Many of you who follow my campaign for a while now i believe that the government is broken. Powerful, and at, corrupt. 75 of the American People agree with me. That does not mean there are not things we should be investing in. We should be investing in research around these critical diseases like we should be investing more in Mental Health or in treatment of drug addiction, something i also know is very close to my heart. Every time we say there is something important we need to invest more in the federal government says i need more money. You will need to secure the border . How long has that been insecure . 25 years. We need more money. You want us to invest in alzheimers research, we need more money. How can it be the federal government get more gets more money every year for 50 years and debts and deficits decrease for 50 years and yet the important things always cost more money. I will tell you how. We never look at how we are spending the money. We dont even know anymore how we are spending our money. The only thing that gets talked about is the rate of increase over last years budget. Its why every agency gets bigger and when you have a big, bloated bureaucracy they gets more money every year, there is no consequence for a failure to perform. A number of and no reward for quick performance . A quits performing. The federal government needs less money. We need to hold people accountable for their performance which means we have to go to some kind of pay for performance environment. We need some version of zerobased budgeting so we know where all our money is being spent. [applause] fiorina ultimately the federal government must invest in those things that are truly important Like Research for tears of basic diseases. Or the Strongest Military on the face of the planet. Or securing the border. The government has to invest in things that are important and quit spinning money on things that are not important or do not work or are not its job. [applause] fiorina yes, maam . [inaudible] the question was about Big Companies having too much influence, what is the plan to curb that . Ask yourself a basic question. If something is so complicated that you dont understand it, what do you suppose the chances are you getting taken advantage of . 100 . You are right, sir. If we want to stop the spread of crony capitalism, what we must do is not just reduce the size and power and weight of the federal government. We must simplify. A 73,000 page tax code. When i left hewlettpackard up to six years of leadership there we had turned it into almost a 90 billion firm. We lead in every product category. I didnt like a 72,008 73,000 page tax code i could hire lobbyist to take advantage of all that complexity. The nine have inperson Real Estate Firm cannot handle it. A Small Business cannot handle the weight, the complex of the. The complexity. The only way to even the Playing Field is a simple fight erratically. Every time the big get bigger. Look at. Frank. What is the result of dotfrank frank. Dr thousands of Community Banks are gone out of business. The happened to obamacare . Health Insurance Companies helped write the bill and the Health Insurance comedies are getting bigger. Drug companies are getting bigger. Small hospitals are going out of business. The only way to curb the power simplify. Is to if you have a three page tax code that anybody can read and anybody can fill out, you dont need a higher nouns of accountants and lobbyist to figure it out. [applause] fiorina yes, in the pink and white striped shirt . The question is how do i feel about the planned parenthood video. I am prolife. [cheers] science i believe that is proving is right every day but you do not have to be thelife to understand hideous nature of what is going on here. This is about the moral character of our nation. When you can have employees who target poor communities, who are pushing women into later term abortion so they can more successfully harvest body parts even though lateterm abortions are demonstrably bad for women, you can only be horrified when you see employees taking over a petri dish for body parts while they say, look, it is a baby. There is no excuse. Planned parenthood must be defunded. [cheers] anyone who buys the democrat argument, with all the respect, anyone who buys the argument that this is about Womens Health, you need to look at all of the other facilities that provide Womens Health services. You need to look at the facts of family mammograms they actually do. You need understand the foundation of planned parenthood, which from its inception targeted poor women, African American and hispanic women. There are more africanamerican lives aborted in new york city every year dinner born alive. That is not right. [applause] if congress does not have the courage to defund planned parenthood, when we get a zerobased budgeting i simply will not provide the money to fund land parenthood. Planned parenthood. Final question. Fiorina i have one final question and in the time i have left them be just leave you with this thought. This is the most extraordinary country on the face of the planet because our fenders my mother taught me. Everybody has godgiven gifts. I know no one is better than anyone of us. Everyone is gifted by god. Everyone has the capacity to live a life of dignity and purpose and meaning. Our founders created a country in which you have the right to find and use your godgiven gifts to fulfill your potential. Let me leave you with what this country must be. Think of lady liberty. She stands tall and strong as america must always be. She is cleareyed and resolute. She does not shield her eyes from the realities of the world. She looks out to the world and holds her towards high because she knows she is a beacon of hope in a troubled world. Lady justice, who holds a sword at her side because she is a fighter. She is a warrior for the values and principles that have made this nation great. She for the scale. She says all of us are equal in the eyes of god and so all of us must be equal in the eyes of the law and government, powerful and powerless alike. And she wears a blindfold. I believe she says it must be true that in this nation, and this century, and it can be true. It does not matter who you are. It does not matter what you look like. It does not matter your circumstances or how you start. Here in this nation every americans life must be filled with the possibility that comes from their godgiven gifts with liberty and justice for all. Thank you so much ladies and john. God bless you. Thank you so much. God bless you all. Thank you. [applause] [no audio] there you go. I was wondering when you thought about Donald Trumps immigration plan. Especially sending children back to their own countries. Fiorina i understand why people are frustrated with immigration. The logicians been talking for years and they never do anything. I agree we finally need to secure the border. I agree we need to support all those deport all the illegals that have committed crimes. But the truth is we keep talking about this in the never get it done. In thiss one candidate race who has a track record of taking words and turning them into results. We will actually secure the border, six immigration once and for all. We just keep talking about this stuff but never get it done. What you think about mexico building the wall . Fiorina i think that is complete the unrealistic. What are you going to do now . Fiorina i am going to eat some corn. Dont anybody fall down the steps. Please, dont fall down the steps. [indiscernible] fiorina we are all walking backwards at the iowa state fair. Am i trying to go down the stairs . We are doing a media bill here. Yes, of course you can shake my hand. I did not know which and it was. Do you believe the issue of birthrights should be changed for those who have children inside the United States . Rina we should [indiscernible] honestly, i think we should put all of our energy, all of our political will and to finally getting the border secure and fixing immigration. Does donald trump have it right . Fiorina those things have been broken for a long time. There is no question we should be reporting illegals. Deporting illegals. Winning something that actually works so we can make it mandatory. We need to secure the border on the fixed illegal immigration. Programs, different wheneverossing cards, check whether some but he goes home. Half of them came on it legal visas and overstayed. We have no way of checking. There are loads of ideas about how to get it fixed but it never gets done. When you talk about your experience, he has in your worldview is that possible . Fiorina i think it is the United States of americas job to secure its own border. A nation cannot protect itself and they cannot protect its border. It is our job to secure the border. Has failed us for 30 years. Fundraisingur changed since your performance in the first debate . Fiorina it is better. [laughter] can you talk about numbers . Fiorina i will talk about numbers but weve been doing very well on online smaller donations before the debate and doing even better now. Our large Donor Program is going very well. When i went into that debate, less than 40 of Republican Voters had ever heard my name. I am not a celebrity or professional politician. I was introduced in many real ways to the American People for the first time. When people see me, hear me, understand what i do and what i stand for, we tend to earn their support. Is their staying power in the movement of the outside candidate that you represent . Fiorina i think there is because if you look at polling 75 , what you will find is of the American People now think the federal government is corrupt. That is a huge number. 82 now think we have a professional Political Class that is more focused on protecting its own power and position in getting any work done. When you have huge majorities of people saying politicians are not serving us, whatever it your issue, whatever your cause, whatever festering problem the hope would be resolved by now, it is that class that fails he. And that fails you. We are going to go to some corn. Nobody falls down the steps. Talk can fiorina your mom and your and a river this is, i think someone wants a picture. Thank you. Fiorina how are you guys . Look at this sweetie five. Sweetie pie. What is your name . Nick. Fiorina are you guys enjoying the fair . Yes. We marched in the parade. Fiorina that sounds fun. Thank you. Thank you so much. Pen . U have a there you go. Take you, sir. Thank you, sir. Careful careful, i have a question about crony capitalism. [indiscernible] fiorina one of the things i the we need to have finest military on the face of tip ofnet, that is true. The spear, fighting men and women. Logistical support and technology. We need to invest more. [indiscernible] fiorina i have got to eat some corn. [indiscernible] you are amazing. Fiorina that is going to be a while. Corn. Going to go get the [indiscernible] welcome to iowa. [applause] [applause] [indiscernible] we are in a competition. Fiorina how are you . Another texas baby. Fiorina he is the one responsible for all of this, he is my produce how are you doing . Fiorina do you ship it in everyday . Its the most wonderful corn. Everyday he brings it in for us. Without john, i cannot do it. May through september, it is all about corn. Iowa. Ourmet of you have to wait all year long until the first of july, sometimes the first of august. July. Were picking corn in usually it is kneehigh by the fourth of july. But because of the rain. The rain. Yes, yes. Fiorina you are going to make it work for this. If i have a bike, you will not get a bite. Bit are going to make her talk with a mouthful of corn. All right. Good. A that is that would be you, right . Is this your first year doing this . This is first this is our first year at the corn stand. Fiorina what were you doing before . My dad started a Lemonade Stand 75 years ago out here. Last year was the first time we did corn in the cup which is what everyone is excited about. Years. wow, 75 is this your first time here . Fiorina you are the first candidate here. All week long i have seen candidates go by and you are the first one smart enough to stop by. Fiorina it seemed like the thing to do. We put it in a pot in steam it for about one minute. Fiorina you can talk to me. Whenever i shuck corn at home i have to stand outside. That brings all the sugar to the surface and we grow it for a minute in that caramelize is the sugar and make it really sweet. Then we cut it off the called cobb and put it in the cup. Fiorina you do all that steaming before you cut it off . You are doing the first process. When a patron gets it it is about a four minute process. That is how fresh our corn is. You are doing it perfect. You are hired. You will win, but if you dont, come see me. [laughter] fiorina what else would you like to see . It in the cup upfront. Fiorina what is the time of caramelization . When you put it in water it makes it hydrate. Then we put it on the grill and the grill it. Fiorina i am trying to remove or this. Were member this. Remember this. Then you cut it off the cabb cobb. [indiscernible] [laughter] there you go. I just wanted like the way you have it there. I dont want no meat. You want it like this . Nothing on it . [indiscernible] grabbed her a fork. Why no Tortilla Chips . Who is next . Definitely standing behind you. [indiscernible] fiorina thank you so much. [indiscernible] there are so many components. Thank you so much. Dont worry about that. [indiscernible] fiorina that was outstanding. Good job. Thank you so much. Alright guys, you have got to try this. It is yummy. [indiscernible] sour cream, lime. I hope they win the prize tomorrow. [indiscernible] we are finding about 80 different stands. There is more than just corn. Fiorina what a concept. , but i have to do this interview. First time at the fair . Fiorina it is. It is so much fun. In a such a great state fared. Fair. It is such a tradition. Robin says you are the smartest candidate because youre the only one that box 50 feet away cbc her so you could see her. Fiorina it seemed pretty obvious to me. We are in iowa and it is corn. What is your message to the voters here and what is on their minds when they speak with you . Fiorina 75 of americans now believe the federal government is corrupt. 82 of americans think we have a professional Political Class that cares more about its power than doing the peoples work. Most iowans agree. Was intended to be a land of opportunity. Sohave a government that is bloated and bureaucratic, and competent, and corrupt that we are crushing opportunities in this nation. Every president ial cycle we have politicians that talk about stuff, the same stuff by the way. Social security is never been performed, the tax code is now 73,000 pages. People are tired of politicians. They want a leader with a track record of problemsolving. That is what i do. Jobs, having about run a major corporation. You talked about the Small Businessmen and women here in iowa. What will you do for them . Fiorina i started out as a secretary in a nineperson Real Estate Firm. My husband started out driving a tow truck. I mention that because most americans get their start the way my husband and i did. Familyowned businesses or farms. They create two thirds of new jobs in the employ cap the people and we are crushing them. Jobs and we are crushing them. Them for theying first time in u. S. History and that is because of the crushing level of government complexity. Small businesses cannot handle it. You can hire all of the accountants and the lobbyists and lawyers in the world. If you are a Small Business owner, you are getting crushed
