Critics say many Virginia hospitals offer little charity care

The New York Times has been reporting on how non-profit hospitals make big bucks at the expense of poor patients – using Richmond’s Bon Secours as an example. But the amount of charity care at other health systems in Virginia is also getting scrutiny.
