Crammed cremation grounds, poor health infra, govt denial: Why UP is the next Covid hotspot in the making
Rising Covid-19 deaths, mass cremations, acute shortage of beds and medical oxygen, are all indicators that Uttar Pradesh is India's next Covid-19 hotspot in the making unless some drastic measures are taken.

Hindus do not cremate their dead at night. But the burning embers from funeral pyres long into the night across crematoriums in Uttar Pradesh, much like other states, present a different story.
"There is no time to wait for morning to arrive. The next pile of bodies is awaiting its turn," said Azad, who is in-charge of conducting last rites of Covid-19 patients at Baikunth Dham in Lucknow.
