COVID vaccine: Polk begins taking vaccination registration online

Polk County launched an online COVID-19 vaccination portal Thursday creating a second method for seniors to sign up.
The online vaccination portal at register.polk.health went live about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Senior citizens age 65 and older can register by providing their name, date of birth and contact information to receive an appointment when supplies become available.
“This is something we have been developing, but wanted to get right,” Polk Commissioner Rick Wilson said in a press statement. “Relying on the proven technology we used to register Polk’s residents for CARES Act funding, we worked with the Florida Department of Health to develop an efficient online system to register the public for the COVID-19 vaccine."
