Meanwhile, roughly 6,100 county residents received their first vaccine dose in the first three weeks of the month, putting it below the pace for roughly 9,600 from May and roughly 20,200 in April.
Statewide restrictions on masks and social distancing were lifted with few exceptions last month, when the state reached a plateau of 70% of all residents ages 18-and-over receiving at least one vaccine dose. However, Dutchess’ percentage of adult residents who have received at least one dose remained below that plateau at 69.3% as of Thursday, and its population in general having received at least one dose was under 60%.
Statewide, 62% of the total population has received at least one dose. Health officials have long said herd immunity would require an area reaching, at minimum, 70% of its total population, with many estimates putting that percentage over 80.
