COVID-19 update: NSW records 38 local cases as three LGAs remain on high alert
Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the largest daily number of local COVID cases in her state this year, the day after she revealed Greater Sydney's lockdown would be extended for another week.

New South Wales has recorded 38 new coronavirus cases - the highest number of local infections in the state this year - after Premier Gladys Berejiklian warned figures would rise following community transmission in south-west Sydney.
Ms Berejiklian announced the spike in locally acquired infections on Thursday, the day after she revealed Sydney’s two-week lockdown would be extended for another week until 11.59pm on July 16.
