(pic) said of the new cases, 161 were from existing clusters while 54 were from the two new clusters, namely the Parit Pulai 55 cluster in Johor Baru and Bukit Tiga Setengah cluster in Batu Pahat.
He said 206 of the new cases were detected through close contact screening while the rest were from other screenings.
Johor Baru district recorded the most new cases with 707, followed by Kulai (142), Batu Pahat (30), Pontian (25), Kota Tinggi (21), Muar (18), Segamat and Kluang (eight each), Tangkak (four) and Mersing (one).
Vidyanathan said one death was recorded on Wednesday, a 76-year-old local patient with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems and stroke.
