On Sunday afternoon, workers could be seen putting up a fence at Queen’s Wharf ahead of the arrival tomorrow of the Viking Bay.
The ship’s return to New Zealand had been assessed as having a “very low health risk to the public”.
All 20 crew members would undergo a comprehensive health check, including testing, on arrival.
“Most of them will then be transported securely to a Managed Isolation and Quarantine facility to complete at least 14 days in managed isolation,” the statement said.
The ship was barred from berthing at Port Taranaki last week, and there were some talk of it heading to Auckland.
