Updated May 14, 2021;
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. -- Although the number of new cases of COVID-19 rose across the state and locally over the past week, there were no COVID-related deaths reported on the Mississippi coast for the first time in over a year.
And, although vaccinations continued to rise across the state, Mississippi rate of vaccination continues to be among the nation’s worst, with the state now ranking dead-last in percentage of population fully vaccinated and 50th, ahead of only Alabama, in percentage of available vaccine administered.
