The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District on Monday reported three deaths linked to COVID-19, 40 new cases and 100 recoveries.
Officials on the city's Facebook page initially reported five deaths and listed five individuals. The numbers later were corrected to three: a man in his 70s and two women in their 70s with preexisting conditions.
The total number of county deaths linked to the coronavirus is 266.
Of the 40 new cases, 10 are based on polymerase chain reaction tests and 30 via antigen tests.
Active cases total 2,618 (1,159 PCR cases and 1,459 antigen cases). A week ago on Jan. 18, active cases number 2,648.
COVID-19 inpatients at Abilene hospitals have declined, now below 100 to 96, with 27 being out-of-county residents. The average age of the inpatients is 69. The last time inpatients were fewer than 100 was Dec. 25, with 98 inpatients.
