Covid-19: Malaysia records 3,120 new cases; daily deaths rise to two-month high of 23

KUALA LUMPUR (May 4): Malaysia reported 3,120 new Covid-19 infections today, pushing the number of active cases in the country to 31,516.
This is the third straight day that active cases have stayed above the 30,000 mark, and they include 338 patients in intensive care units, and 181 on ventilator support, the Ministry of Health said.
The ministry announced 23 deaths today, the highest in two months and raising the Covid-19 death toll to 1,574. The highest daily deaths recorded so far was 25, on Feb 18.
Six deaths each were reported in Kelantan and Selangor, four in Sarawak, two in Johor, two in Sabah and one each in Kedah, Perak and Melaka. All the deceased were Malaysians and they were aged between 37 and 85 years.
