Health Canada warns of counterfeit vaccines being sold online
Health Canada is warning of counterfeit COVID-19 vaccines being sold online and from other unauthorized sources.
In a notice posted to its website, the government agency said that COVID-19 vaccines sold online and from unauthorized sources are counterfeit, could pose “serious health risks” and are “ineffective at protecting an individual from the COVID-19 virus.”
Health Canada authorized the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in Canada on Dec. 9. It’s currently the only vaccine authorized in Canada and distribution of the vaccine is limited. In Alberta, the first batch of doses will be given to healthcare workers.
