SIBU: There was a mad rush by residents of Song district to buy daily necessities before the movement control order comes into effect on Tuesday (Feb 2).
Song OCPD Deputy Supt Rowney Michael Jalak said police had set up roadblocks at Jalan Temalat and Jalan Takan.
He said about 90% of the motorists they spoke on Jalan Takan said they were rushing to town to stock up daily necessities.
A number of Covid-19 positive cases were reported from longhouses on Jalan Takan over the last few days.
"We found that there was a greater number of vehicles going to town today (Feb 1) than yesterday.
