COVID-19 highlights: Maharashtra reports 62,919 new cases, 828 deaths

Maharashtra on Friday reported 62,919 fresh
COVID-19 cases against 66,159 on Thursday and 828 deaths. The overall caseload has reached 46,02,472, while the death toll rose to 68,813. As many as 69,710 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day. Now, there are 6,62,640 active cases in the state.
Uddhav Thackeray lists out what the Maharashtra government is doing to manage the COVID-19 crisis, prepare for third wave
On the eve of Maharashtra Day, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday addressed the state and listed all the steps the government is taking in order to contain the second wave along with preparations for the third wave. Stating that the Bombay HC had asked the state government if a strict lockdown was needed, Thackery said, "I will ask you, but I don't think that situation will arise. Cases have now plateaued, but we are not over the phase. If we had not put these restrictions, there would have been 9-10 lakh active cases. The cases have now plateaued."
