Vaccine Advisory Group OKs AstraZeneca Vaccine For Adults 65 and Over
In a virtual news conference, federal health officials and representatives from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) discuss changes to recommendations concerning the administering of COVID-19 vaccines. NACI has expanded its age group for AstraZeneca vaccines to now include adults 65 years of age and older. Speaking with reporters are Dr. Caroline Quach-Thanh, chair of NACI; Dr. Matthew Tunis, executive secretary of NACI, and Dr. Marc Berthiaume, the director of the Bureau of Medical Science at Health Canada. The updated guideline comes as several European countries have suspended their use of the AstraZeneca vaccine over concerns of blood clots. (March 16, 2021)
