Alberta Health Minister on NICU Expansion, COVID-19 Response – March 4, 2021
Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro holds a news conference at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary to announce a $143-million investment through his government’s latest budget that will fund five new, priority health capital projects. The investment includes $23 million, plus a significant contribution from the Calgary Health Foundation, to expand the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Foothills hospital. The minister is joined by Jason Copping (MLA for Calgary-Varsity); Prasad Panda (infrastructure minister); Dr. Ted Braun (vice-president and medical director of clinical operations, Alberta Health Services); Mike Meldrum (president and CEO, Calgary Health Foundation); and Molly and Patrick Wilding (parents to newborn Gianna).
