The Premier again repeated her call for adults of all ages in Greater Sydney to receive a vaccine, in line with national vaccine advisory group ATAGI’s advice. The city will complete its fifth week of lockdown on Saturday, with measures extended until August 28.
“No matter what stage the case numbers are at, it’s the vaccine [that] will allow us to live freely,” she said.
While uptake among under-40s has increased, Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said she remained concerned by vaccination coverage in the elderly, urging people with elderly loved ones to talk to them about getting their vaccines and to help them book an appointment.
