Court rules Secretary of State must rewrite ballot question, siding with consumer-owned utility advocates

The Maine Supreme Judicial Court on Monday directed the Secretary of State to reword a ballot question for a campaign to replace Central Maine Power and Versant with a consumer-owned utility, taking issue with the term “quasi-governmental” to describe the proposed power company. Advocates with Our Power last year submitted the necessary number of signatures
