County dries out, mops up after storm [Santa Cruz Sentinel, Calif.]
Jan. 29—APTOS — Even as sunshine peeked from behind the clouds Friday, communities across Santa Cruz County were left mopping up after the week’s high-intensity rainstorms had charged through the region.
In the Aptos hills, a 41-year-old Pacific Gas & Electric Co. employee was recovering with minor injuries Friday morning after the vehicle he was riding in rolled down a Valencia School Road hillside, California Highway Patrol officer Sam Courtney said. The man, assessing storm damage to electric facilities, had been out driving the area around 12:30 a.m. when the road washed out from beneath him, according to PG&E spokeswoman Mayra Tostado.
