The Kankakee County Board approved its 2020 tax levy of $23,645,463 at its monthly board meeting on Tuesday at the county administration building.
The finance committee initially approved the levy at its meeting Nov. 19, and discussions were held on the county budget at the Nov. 10 board meeting. The $23.6 million levy is an overall increase of 3.2 percent from the previous yearâs levy. Included in the levy is 11 funds that comprise the total amount.
The biggest increase was of 6.7 percent to the corporate fund of $5.85 million, and the IMRF fund of $5.09 million was a 2.8 percent increase. The insurance liability fund of $3.33 million was just a half percent increase. The bonds and interest fund of $2.02 million had a .7 percent increase.
