Council leader Cllr Russ Bowden
WARRINGTON Borough Council leader Cllr Russ Bowden has secured the backing required to continue in the role.
Councillors passed a recommendation to appoint Cllr Bowden as leader until May 2024 during the full council meeting at the Parr Hall on Monday.
It was the first in-person full council meeting in more than a year.
Cllr Bowden retained his Birchwood seat in the all-out elections earlier this month as Labour retained control of the council despite losing seven seats at the Town Hall.
Labour won 36 seats on the council, Tories 11, Liberal Democrats eight and independents three.
