Results of a community survey covering a range of city topics are in, and Aldermen will get a look at them at a work session Monday night. The survey, which was conducted in the late summer, had the aim of analyzing the satisfaction and priority ratings for different city projects. It asked questions about city services, quality of life, public safety, and parks and recreation. Citizens were also asked about a future Galesburg Community Center, including how much taxpayers would be comfortable with its costs. Part of the goal was also to quantify current viewpoints to measure against later. There were parts of the City's Strategic Plan that were largely subjective, things like, "More citizens feel that Galesburg is a safe community." ETC was the company that administered the survey and they will present the aggregate results to Aldermen tonight. While not all residents filled out a survey, the results will reflect a scientific sample size that reflects Galesburg's various demographics and neighborhoods.
