JONESBORO â After city engineers made revisions to reduce the cost, the Jonesboro City Council on Tuesday approved a change in a construction contract for the cityâs shooting sports complex.
Bill Campbell, the cityâs communications director, said the engineers eliminated an attached pavilion between the two restroom buildings, used a less expensive air cooling system and made other cost-cutting measures, to match the quality of similar buildings at Joe Mack Campbell Park.
Still, the restrooms mean a $498,312 increase to the value of the contract with Ramsonâs Inc. The current phase of the project will now cost $2,547,248.
Some candidates for council seats had questioned the need to spend that much money, but they were defeated in the election.
