During a performance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Cory Kahaney recalled being asked at a party what she did for a living.
"I said, 'I'm a comedian,' and they looked at me with shock and horror and they're like: 'Oh, that is the hardest job! I could never do that job.' ... And obviously, this person doesn't know I work an hour a night, including the commute," joked Kahaney of the length of a stand-up routine.
Obviously, comedy takes days and months and years to perfect. Kahaney, a past finalist on NBC's "Last Comic Standing," is one of the rare stand-up performers who makes a living at her craft.
