Corporal punishment to end in children’s homes, Campbell says

Following a recent incident at the Children’s Emergency Hostel, corporal punishment will cease in children’s homes at the recommendation of the National Child Protection Council, Minister of Social Services Frankie Campbell said yesterday.
“I met yesterday with the National Child Protection Council and they gave a further update on their findings with some recommendations,” he told reporters outside Cabinet.
“Among the recommendations, are that we cease any form of corporal punishment immediately until further discussion; and so we have agreed and accepted that recommendation.
