An 84-year-old man accidentally drowned over the weekend in a pond on his Lancaster County property, authorities said.
William Clayton was found dead in a pond off Pennsy Road in Martic Township Saturday evening after he was reported missing. Authorities said they searched the pond and found Clayton after discovering an unattended boat in the water.
Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber said Clayton’s death was ruled an accidental fresh-water drowning.
Pennsylvania State Police did not have any further details available Tuesday morning. The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission assisted with the investigation.
