Synopsis
This will be the first time recipients can choose their vaccine. So far, under the immunisation drive, the type of vaccine was not listed on CoWIN at the time of registering for an appointment at public or private vaccination centres.

Those who are 18 and above can start registering on CoWIN on April 28. Once private vaccination centres sign up to the platform—existing ones don’t have to re-register—they will gain access to beneficiary data as per registrations on CoWIN and Aarogya Setu.
Indians can choose their Covid vaccine when making an appointment at a private centre from May 1, when the next phase of the country’s public immunisation programme starts. The health ministry has directed that all private vaccination centres will have to declare which jab will be on offer, stocks available and the price they will charge on the CoWIN platform. Vaccinations will be opened up to all who are 18 and above starting next month.
