IN a bizarre turn of events, the police came a-calling at a house in Tanjung Minyak, Melaka, announcing that a woman living there had died – despite the fact that she was very much alive, Sin Chew Daily reported.
It took place on Saturday when the “victim” was announced by the police to have “died” in a car accident, which caused her mother to burst into tears.
In reality, 32-year-old Lin Shu Jin was very much alive and was a victim of identity theft.
Since losing her MyKad in 2004, her name and identity card number had been used by someone who had given birth at a private hospital, purchased a car, taken out a loan and even peddled drugs.
